Did you watch him in JTL? He was less than useless.

I don't care if your view is "JLT doesn't matter", you're right, it doesn't in terms of results, but of ALL the players in the side, you'd think the man who barely played last year and couldn't get picked in an INJURY RIDDLED team for finals, an area he has vast experience in, should speak volumes about where he stands as a player.

He is extraordinarily slow, can't play second ruck and is just flat out not what he used to be.

Any area of the ground he plays in will be significantly weakened. I would have rather they debuted Max Lynch.
He wasn't picked for finals last year because Goldsack was ahead of him on fitness, yet still was first emergency for the side that played finals. And his reserves form has been good in the all the reserves games I've watched this year and ahead of Lynch who still has a bit to find if he wants to play in the senior team. Reid is an obvious replacement for Cox. If it was Goldsack who does the ruck work?

Oh No, just read that Boak will be playing his 250th game this week.

Don't like it when an opposition player is playing a milestone game, especially one as classy and means so much to his team.

Might have to revise my margin.
We have a history of playing awful in Milestone games...

Adelaide on the other hand grow another leg.

May you play well but fall agonisingly short in your efforts...

As for Travis himself, the man is in some impressive form.

Yes I saw him in the JLT. I’ve also taken notice of his performances in the VFL over the past month and he’s easily been our most consistent and best performer in an otherwise underperforming side. He’s moving well, making good leads, and is still very good overhead. Couple that with the fact that he won’t be in the same team as Cox, and we can afford to have a slower tall in an otherwise reasonably quick and agile forward line. Preferring a developing first ruck in Lynch over an experienced player like Reid in a primary key forward role is laughable, and based on your own emotions towards Reid rather than actual logic.

Reid in for Cox in his forward role is pretty logical. Who relieves Grundy in the ruck is an interesting question. In my opinion Moore is far and away our next best ruck option so how could we work this?
Could Goldsack come in to allow Moore to play as second ruck when needed? Goldy can play on tall and small players and be competitive and offers speed and tackling pressure and knows the system. I’d be happy with him playing the Greenwood / Aish role when Moore is down back.
I think this is the way I’d go.
Out: Cox
In: Reid
Out: Brown
In: Elliott
Out: Greenwood
In: Goldsack

I wouldn't be surprised if we get spanked or win easily....

But do hope Boak has a great day regardless, quality individual. Very much like your captain for us. Just a classy individual.

Time will tell how Reid goes Friday night. But, don't surprised folks if he "can't keep up with the game" so to speak. Was a great servant for us, but I'm afraid senior AFL has passed him. Prove me wrong Reid and please do because Port are going to be a tough challenge.

On Reid, what is a pass mark for Friday? 1 goal? 2 goals?

Could we suffer block buster fatigue? Treloar said Anzac was intense.
Also our record against away teams at Docklands is not great. And I worry about their ability to dominate the clearances early.

I just want him to make enough dangerous leads to open up our forward line. If he kicks a couple along the way, that'd be great. If his work allows Elliott, WHE, Stephenson, and JDG to kick more goals, then I'm also happy with that.

If any team is at risk of 'blockbuster fatigue', it would be us. But if any team should be equipped and experienced enough to deal with 'blockbuster fatigue', it would be us.

Honestly after flogging West Coast but also getting done by Richmond without their 4/5 best players i’m not surprise you have those thoughts.

I and many Port fans put both those losses (Brisbane) on selection, dropping Marshall killed our structure..... esp replacing him with a midget in Sam Gray,

Also kicked poorly for goal. We didn't have the big guy to create a contest and spill it to our quality smalls. Not to different to you guys with how important Cox was late last year as a focal point.

I'm adamant Richmond playing youth was the best thing for them, shook em up a bit and gave them motivation.

Interesting re-balancing act for the selectors - Reid and Elliott both forward who gets moved into Aish's role? . . . JT???

Let’s wait for Cox to return before we can decide if he can fit into the same forward line as Reid WHE and Mihocek. That’s a lot of talks to fit in before even considering what to do with Thomas DeGoey and Elliott.

Well Saintly Viewed i do use carrots as part of my Rissole recipe.
I hope that Bad Horse will not view this post of mine!

Ill be over for dinner shortly thanks. Have one dozen rissoles, heirloom carrot au gratin, and a large apple pie ready. I promise not to belch more than 40 or 50 times or so. Oh and sugarcubes. Lots of sugarcubes.

I hate going to Telstra-Etihad-Marvel-Stadium-Dome and it seems the team hate playing there.

Playing a bogie side at our least fave stadium.

JDG to kick straight, and Elliot to shine after a rest. Grundy has an opportunity to make a statement.

It’s Colonial-Telstra-Ethihad-Marvel stadium dome at the docklands in case people didn’t know where it was.

I think the one thing we can rely on is that Ben Reid will read the game well, put himself in dangerous positions, thus keeping his direct opponent honest and not have him sagging off too much. Anything else will be a bonus.

Reid might end up the preferred choice if he stays healthy and performs anything like he has in the VFL, as he can get up the ground further and be a link Travis Cloke style whereas Cox is usually parked inside 40, clogging up the space that JDG, Elliott, WHE and Stevo need to be effective. So from a team balance perspective, Cox may find himself on the outer... if Reid performs well. It will be a big call to play Cox in the reserves now but could happen.
I’m sorry but as much as some posters want it to happen Cox ain’t going nowhere.

I said before the season started that if Reid plays a game this year, it confirms we’re tanking and have written off our season.

Can’t go back on my word now.

Gonna put a sneaky 50 on Port I think. Great value at 3.50 with collingwood playing with 17 men.

We will win by 8 goals. Reid, Elliott, will and Degoey will kick 14 goals between them.

Have a good feeling about his one. We played pretty bad last week after half time. Expect us to come out and smash them.

I would have preferred to debut Lynch but have no negative emotions towards Reid.
