B: Brown, Butts, Doedee
HB: Kelly, McAsey/Murray, Smith
C: Seedsman, Laird, Sholl
HF: Schoenberg, Walker, Murphy
F: McAdam, Himmelberg, Thilthorpe
R: ROB, Keays, Hately
I/C: Worrell, Berry, Newchurch, McHenry

My preferred 22 next week. ROC for Berry if he isn't fit. Lines up well against GWS too, they have three talls in Riccardi/Finlayson/Himmelberg, so playing Butts/Worrell/one of McAsey or Murray should work against them. Doedee as loose man, Kelly to Greene, Brown to Daniels or Hill

Typed up a huge spiel but my phone went ******ed and I can’t be stuffed writing it again.

Following players should be under pressure:

Rowe: Liability as soon as opponents have possession. Footy smarts will get you a fair way but his lack of size and athleticism is really going to prohibit him.

McAdam: Less time flying for MOTY and more time actually trying to do the team thing. Major disappointment.

McHenry: Was cleaner today but another 4FA, pathetically clumsy.

Murphy: Tries, always, I’ll give him that, but 0 tackles, 0 goals. Nope, not going to cut it.

McPherson: Really liked what he was bringing last year, now he is scarily reminiscent of Chris Schmidt. Ball use is horrific, and has no speed. Don’t think he’s a long term option.

Jeez McHenry has 3 Frees for and 14 against this year.

I like Ned, but yeah he really needs to clean that up. Less niggling, more production
He does some things that no one else on our list could do. Clean up the FA and get a bit more of the ball and he could be quite valuable. You can niggle without giving FA

Out

Hamill - absolutely rotten luck this kid. Looks nasty. Might be fit enough for the sub though.

Rowe - Honeymoon is over and he's doing what I feared he would. Not much on defence.

McPherson - Reeeeeeeally bad. Needs a spell in the 2s

McAdam - Just not enough.

Lynch - Don't you EVER put your hand up again. As selfish as Roo in 2007 against the very same team

IN

Berry - If he's right to go he comes back in.

Worrell - Yeah I don't think he's a 2nd KPD but let's give him a run and find out.

Newchurch - Couldn't be worse than Jimmy on defence and provides A LOT of pace forward.

Pedlar - We saw today and to a lesser extent with Berry that you play talent.

Mackay - Sub.

i thought he was stiff with FA today.

couple of great aggressive tackles penalized (eg dangerous tackle). They weren’t stupid acts, just aggression that you can argue was either unlucky to be paid a free or you accept because the intent was right

Rowe 0 goals. 0 points, 0 goal assists, 0 score involvements. nada.
He's probably a poor man's Ian Callinan.

Has some good moments when you can get the ball to him, but literally has no other weapons.

Very poor athleticism and endurance and zero pressure. It's probably why we need to play both Murphy and McHendry so that we can make up for Rowe defensively.

Look, this won’t happen, but I’d be making 5 changes to the squad this week.

Out of the 23: Hamill (inj), Lynch (inj), Rowe (omitted), McPherson (omitted), Fogarty (omitted)

Into the 23: Worrell, Berry, Newchurch, Pedlar, Mackay

Hamill and Lynch are clearly injured, and the other 3 are liabilities. Fog is a victim of other players taking his spot, while the other two are just well down on form. McPherson looks shot mentally. Rowe is clearly a limited player and, while we clearly need a small forward with great goal sense in the side, Newchurch deserves a crack at being that player now.

B: Brown - Butts - Doedee
HB: Smith - Worrell - Kelly
C: Sholl - Keays - Seedsman
HF: Thilthorpe - Walker - McHenry
F: Newchurch - Himmelberg - McAdam
R: O’Brien - Laird - Berry
Int: Murphy, Berry, Pedlar, Hately

Emg: Mackay, McAsey, Fogarty, O’Connor
Sub: Mackay

He didn't give any away from niggling. By memory, it's 1x holding the ball, 1x illegal disposal (and got crucified by the umps here, seeing it was the one where he had dived on a loose ball and got done for a throw), 1x holding the man (bit of a shit situation, got stuck with a 2 v 1 on a hawks overlap, lost sight of the ball during a tackle and committed to it) and 1x dangerous tackle (ran down two players, and just put a bit too much force into the 2nd tackle).

Certainly wasn't anything as silly as the North game.

yeah. On a day where we got absolutely reamed as well. Grain of salt. Ned needs to get the ball more, but what he does do when he is involved was good today and has been. He has also corrected himself a bit and pulled himself back from over the line. Which is a feat in itself. Keep playing him.

I like the changes but Pedlar is the concern. Can he run out a whole game? Unlikely. He wasn't overly impressive yesterday and looks unfit. O'Connor could be the go until Pedlar reaches full fitness or Sloane is fit. O'Connor can run both ways. As much as I dislike the idea of Mackay I think we have no other option if Hamill and Moose are out. Your right they are unlikely to make these changes but they should. If Berry is still injured they will probably keep Fogarty in. I wasn't overly impressed with Hately as well. Berry and O'Connor in for Hately and Fogarty is another option.

Pedlar can't yet, and if we are going to play Berry and Newchurch, who will also need managed minutes.... Its a monster risk.

I actually think Berry has become quite important to us with his ferocious tackling pressure through the middle.

Second half O'Meara and the Afro kid (Jiaf?) ran around like unregistered dogs. Berry would've had none of that.
Getting him back in the side, and soon enough Pedlar too, changes the dynamic. If Sloane comes back in the sort of form he was in too.... Our team looks a hell.of a lot more "brutal"
