Hope Sellwood and Jaques have good games against Coburg. Wouldn’t mind both in against Saints.

Bramble and Cleary need a spell.

Hopefully Darcy is back for this one, missing him more than ever.

McNeil lucky to survive but not many options for his position. He can go sub and let Dolan have the whole game.

In - Sellwood, Jaques, Darcy
Out - Bramble, Cleary, Gardner

Sub - McNeil

If JJ is back he’ll come straight in.

Ngl a significant part of my interest in this season died last night. The harsh reality is we simply aren’t good enough.

The results speak for themselves - 1-6 vs top 8 teams. I fully expect to beat up on the saints next week which will only paper over all the cracks once again. We’ll no doubt get on a run at some point given our fixture but, as usual, we’re going to leave too much work to be done in the back half of the year, finish 5-8 and get rolled in a QF/semi. Bookmark it.

Out : a mentally weak side In: I’m the Psychologist and Counsellor from the Year of the Dogs 1996. I’ve been brought in to implement a wellbeing plan aimed at making this side mentally stronger.

If any player doubts the mental strength of this team, we will replay the 2024 Hawthorn vs Bulldogs Elimination Final — and watch Jack Ginnivan from the Hawks this week show the football to the Bulldogs side and laugh at them on their home ground, in a match that was the Bulldogs to win.

Agreed.

Next 4 against Saints, Tigers, Swans and North should leave us 10-6. If one of those is a loss than the mood around the club will be bleak.

10-6 heading into the Crows & Lions game would give us a chance to redeem against 2 of the best teams.

Yes i agree Bramle needs to go in the 2's i don't about Sellwood or Jaques but there are some platers should not be in the team at the moment i wouldn't mind JUH back in the side

I thought Cleary was OK.
Hopefully some half backs dominant VFL so we can rejuvenate the back half.
Need to go back to the 2 Kpp defence for Saints so Darcy for Gardner an easy choice. JJ will be right to return aswell so Bramble can make way.
Dolan deserves a start aswell , with Treloar to Sub the obvious choice for me.

IN: Darcy, JJ, best performed VFL flanker
OUT: Gardner, Bramble, McNeil

Hopefully Jaques or even Sellwood have good games this weekend would put some pressure on Bramble spot in the team.

We need one of Bramble or JJ in the side as we just can't move the ball out of the D50 without one of them.
We all hoped Gags would become that guy this year but he just hasn't.

McNeill, I've been a supporter of his last night but he can't play next week in any capacity after that. Dolan in the main squad is the obvious change there

VFL results to determine other changes.

So what was with Treloar last night? He came off early and looked visibly hampered and slow during the game. He still attended CBA so they clearly weren’t too concerned so maybe just short a gallop first up?
Looked like he was sore, but also didn't trust his body to get into a full sprint in case his calf shredded again

The hardest he ran all night was to beat a teammate to take the out on the full kick

McNeil, Bramble & Gardner, you’d think are on the chopping block. There could be others but I doubt we’d drop many more.

Darcy & JJ, hopefully are both right to go.

Outs
Gardner - Backup only if injuries
McNeil - hard position to play yet struggles a lot
Treloar - Club should not have played him, never saw him run more the 60%. Looks gone to be honest. Pull him for another month and test him hard. I hope he can come back yet if he can't sprint at full pace needs to retire. Happens to all of us.
Clearly/Bramble - Maybe 1 to go out.

Ins - I'll wait too I watch the twos. Cupboard is bare though.

I would through Naughton behind the ball at CHB to get his confidence back. He is not even leading or demanding the ball at the moment.

Would hold fire on Ads. He looked very good against Port. Suspect he copped a knock/corky early on last night which really hampered him for the rest of the game.

Gardner out, Lobb to FB, Naughton to CHB.

Poor coaching then, should have been subbed, at the ground struggled to run.

He looks like someone who is scared to run at full pace as he knows a calf or hammie will go.

Bit like me running at the little athletics end of year Dad's race. The head said go harder, the body said take that cope a hammie old man ha ha

It’s a big call to sub someone out so early in the game for just a knock. They would’ve hoped he could run through it.
What if someone else goes down with concussion or a soft tissue injury? You’re then down a rotation.
I’d take a Treloar @ 70% than a fit McNeil any day of the week.

He’s always had a unique gait with a shorter stride. Like I said let’s just wait to see how he’s moving next week before casting judgement.

Up to last night we have shown up every week in defeat but unfortunately reality is we are long way off the best teams. I am unsure if the hawks are one of those. They sure know how to beat us and keep our stars in check. We are 5 to 8 team at best.

I just hope we do not take the saints lightly they are capable on their day and proved it against the cats.

Changes unsure but for a start Gardiner how he got a game I will never know and F...Up McNeil. His whole career he has missed clutch goals or does something stupid like last night. He should take a leaf from VDM book who has been much better this season.
