Maxy is back, who goes out?

Buckley hasnt really been bad enough to be dropped but he is a back. Is it a matter of last one in, first one out?

Leigh brown, questionable start but jolly needs support.

Thoughts?

Re: Round three changes

Buckley pretty clearly. It's not really about playing well enough to hold your spot for him, he had to leapfrog someone, and he hasn't come close over the 2 rounds.

The only other option is if they want to get Macaffer's fitness up they could pull him to the 2's, but I thought he was moving reasonably well yesterday.

Re: Round three changes

Simple really.

In: Maxwell (if ready to go)
Out: Buckley

Tough call on Simon, but Maxy is our captain, and we need to replace "like for like" here.

Leon or Dick may also be a chance if they "burn" today in the VFL, but I can't see more then 1 change happening next week, we are going too well to change the side up too much.

Re: Round three changes

They often pull surprises, and Mick is very much comittted to 'horses for courses' as well as getting games into blokes during the year as a contingency, and rotating some players through regardless of form.

I don't actually have any ideas what they will do, but Ithink it won't all be form related.

Re: Round three changes

Given Carlton are stronger forward than back, we may drop Caff and retain Buckley, assuming Maxy comes back.

May give more options to cover players like their smaller forwards, with a bit of shuffling.

Wonder if Buckley might be considered to play a defensive role on Yarran and see how that goes.

Re: Round 3 vs Carlton changes

Maxy in for Buckley. I don't expect any other changes. I think in round 4 players with some VFL form might start pushing for selection but suspect we will keep it settled against Carlton.

Re: Round 3 vs Carlton changes

Maxy for Bucks.

More interesting will be the sub. MM said Krak wont be the sub again this week.

I think Sidey. Very tough choice.

Re: Round 3 vs Carlton changes

Buckley earnt himself another week IMO, I'd personally go Maxy for Macaffer. Macaffer is way off the pace at the moment, needs some time in the goos to get back up to scratch.

Re: Round 3 vs Carlton changes

I'm thinking Caff out for Maxy and Buckley shifted to sub.

Still not convinced on Buckley but I think we have plenty of firepower up forward so we should focus on closing them down.

Maxwell may find it tough to run out the game, so let him lead the boys down back until we are on top of the match. Around 3qtr time, sub him off for Buckley.....

Buckley isn't in our best 'fit' 22, so obviously he gets dropped. I just wish we could get some gametime into Keefe, I just have a feeling he could do so much given the chance.

Obvious one is Maxy in for Buckley. Stiff for him to be dropped as he hasn't really put a foot out of line but that's the competition we have for spots, not to mention the fact that our captain is available for selection.

Davis would be under consideration too as he normally plays quite well against the Blues over the last couple of times.

Re: Nick

Maxy in for Buckley is the obvious choice, whilst Leon performed today so the Caff could make way for him.
Geez I'm getting pumped for this!

Against Carltank I would be trying out Leon Davis. He can play both parts of the ground. I would start him in the back line then if needed put him in the forward line.

Agree??

In: Davis, Dick
Out: Tarrant, Didak

Didak will be rested, he's had a couple of easy games to get back into it but will be rested now to make sure his shoulder gets some down time.
Brad Dick to come in for him.

Tarrant will be rested as part of his aged player program. Davis to come in, and Leroy will go down back.

Wellingham will get the sub role this week.

No chance that Didak will be rested against the Scum... no chance in hell.

He's fit... if he wasn't fit he wouldn't have played the NAB cup Final or the first two rounds.

Tarrant won't be rested either.

Bring in some of the kids I reckon, will make it more a harder close game.

Personally I don't think 80+ wins each week can be healthy in the long run. Complacency kills. But what am I a coach? I think not lol.

anyone here concerned with sidebottom's start to the year? by his own words he says he's struggling at the moment.

and whilst maxwell for buckley seems to be the obvious decision, the way malthouse spoke about buckley in the post-match presser, i'm not 100% convinced it will happen.

He's playing more or less as he did for most of last year. The grand finals inflated a lot of people's expectations to an unreasonable level (maybe even his own?), but I don't think there's anything to worry about.

Sidey just had 27 touches and 2 goals, i thought he was poor versus port but saturday he was fairly solid

I think Buckley will hold his place this week. Personally I thought he had an OK game but was poor in his defensive efforts against the Roos, he just always seemed to be 5 metres behind Thomas at too many contests. He'd be the player I'd drop but with the Blues having quite a few smallish types I think MM will pick him. Also he might be an OK match up for Walker as physically you probably couldn't find 2 more similar players. Just hopeful he isn't picked to play on Garlett if that kid get's an inch he'll tear you to shreds and Buckley plays loose.

So to the changes:

In: Maxwell
Out: Macaffer

Maxwell, if fit, comes in this week no matter what and as I stated earlier I think MM will tend to not change up the small defensive players too much. It would have been nice to have found a spot for Davis as well because I think he could be great off half back against the scum but just can't see it happening. IMO I think we can lose Macaffer from our forward structure and still be more than capable of kicking a winning score. However even that change I'm not 100% certain on because I think Macaffer might be an option for a shutdown role on Yarran. Will be interesting to see who eventually makes way for Maxwell.
