Listening to JL sounds more likely young will come back through the wafl. Everyone was convinced “you don’t run group 1 thorough breds in the country”.
Guess we ll see but Might need to remember this is Jlo not RTB

Also lol at people tipping /convinced Fyfe should/would be an in.

Love the guy but he’s long past the stage of being picked (even for sub) unless he’s 110% fit and after good run of games.

I’m sure we are the only club that would put a guy like Young in the 2s.

Really pisses me off, if he’s fit enough to play he should be playing AFL.

You can guarantee Bont won’t be playing VFL when he comes back in a few weeks.

Unfortunately I’m not sure anyone on our list bar Sharp can play fat side wing. NOD probably can but we’d prefer him on the skinny side.

So Aish is competing with Johnno, JOM and NOD for a wing/midfield position. And he ain’t playing in front of any of them.

I like Aish. He’s dependable and gives all he’s got. But it’s not some grand conspiracy that he’s not playing.
So you are super happy with Worner, Sharp and Banfield all playing ahead of Aish?

I really dunno what to say to that, just a trash decision by selection committee to ignore Aish like a rash.

It is the same selective, exclusionary favourites policy that kept rewarding JOM despite terrible form in 2023 and 2024, and favoured the likes of Henry ahead of Aish.

I don't mind Young on managed minutes in the WAFL.
Gees people he's blue chip and they want to be able to get him running and kicking but be able to manage his minutes and drag him at the slightest hint of tightness. Can't do that in the big time.

Provided Dudley plays I don't mind how it shakes out.

Kind of weird to name Sharp on extended. If he's not fit, don't play him, if he's out of form drop him.
I thought Banfield and Worner were both ok last week so don't mind them but feel for Aish.

Fyfe not playing any footy this week. I rather suspect he might be done although he would be pretty handy to use as an impact player when it gets tighter later in the year.

Sturt I reckon is gone. Poor bastard could never get a decent run at it and he showed he can play the level when he got brief periods of continuity.

I don't think there's anything going on with Aish, I think the club just prefer to go with guys like Worner and Wagner at this point.

But as uninspiring as Worner is, he's played about what, 10 games in 2-3 years? He's definitely not the best choice but I reckon we're being harsh on the bloke. We've had worse get more consistent game time. He's still 22.

Young has had a very interrupted pre season. People forget he has that broken leg and was out until December.
The hamstring has been done twice after that.
He hasn’t played a game of any sort in that time.
Very much agree, need to remember too Youngy has a history of injuries already.
A week or two of WAFL won't be too bad if it helps him avoid further injury the rest of the year.

Conversely the decision to select both Worner and Brodie in the squad ahead of Aish is just batshit cray.

It’s looking ominous for jimmy now.

Lol.

JOM and Wagner in the 22. Banfield the sub. Worner and Aish outside the 23. This was the team for the derby before JOM and Wagner were late withdrawals, and a 95% chance that's what it will be this week barring any more late withdrawals (e.g. Sharp).
I also think this will be the final 23 but it limits the option of Banners playing a negating role on Dale.

I wouldn’t mind seeing JOM as the sub. He’s not high impact but he can cover across the three lines in case of injury.

I think you’re right apart from Chappy. He was 7th in the 2km time trial in his draft year (NOD was 8th). The best thing about Chappy is he would be a much better aerially threat than Sharp when he dropped back to help out the defence.

Historically the main concern with running your star players through the reserves was that some Saturday plodder would try and manufacture a pathetic life story for himself - do you guys remember the time I king hit Hayden Young behind play? I am tougher than an AFL player.
It just doesn't seem to happen any more. That sort of raw thuggery has diminished so much at all levels, even ammos.
It makes sense to me to ease a guy coming off two hammies in quick succession back via the reserves. It's a long year

The fact that it is gloomy and overcast on any given day in Albany is not going to give you much clue to what's happing in rest of the state north of a line drawn more or less between the Mt Barker Golf Club and Halls Rock.

Once you drive past Narrikup, it’s a different planet.
