For all those suggesting Ottens play in the VFL, the VFL are actually playing a state of origin game against the SANFL next week, therefore everyone has the week off.

Ottens in for West. Will spend time forward and 2nd ruck.
Chapman in for Gamble.
Rooke in for Mackie. Needs to find some G+D in the Vfl.
Lonergan in for Taylor who looked badly concussed.
Prismall in for either Ling or Johnson if injured.

Three definites for sure Ottens, Rooke & Chappy...When you look at last night, whilst not in panic mode the pies exposed those that we had out.
We cant go hard on HT & Gamble cos they need time and will be rested/omitted in due course but SJ, Hunt & Mackie have been very indifferent especially the latter two....And a couple of the others do need a rest as they look like they are playing injured or soar.
Basically we were flat & the woods beat us at our own game, when you play a run on high risk tempo game like we do you expect to come un stuck when a turnover is on.
Carlton should be interesting. A-game,back on track !!!

You are ####ing kidding yourself there is no chance either of those two will come out.

I thought Gamble worked very hard last night with his tackling and chasing. The delivery into our forward line was abysmal so not much more could have been expected of him. It'd be very harsh to drop him.

I'd like to see the following changes:

- Ottens (if fit) for West
- Chapman (if fit) for S Johnson (inj)
- Rooke for Ling (inj)
- D Johnson for Hunt (inj)
- Prismall for Varcoe.

There were two guys last night who had over 50 touches between them, yet i don't remember either laying a single tackle.

They won't be dropped, but i hope they get a good kick up the arse.

Enright and Mackie. You might think that 2 of our backline players could be expected to lay at least 1 tackle per match.

You can guarantee Rooke will always tackle

rooke should be in for ling, ling is playing injured
johnson should be given a few weeks off, hips are like his grans at the moment

I thought exactly the same last night. With respect fellas, neither of these guys could run out of sight on a dark night last night. Both appeared to be really hampered with leg injuries.

The other one might be Josh Hunt - appeared to get injured during the game, and really looked proppy after that.

Anyone else think that maybe lonergon should get a run next week? maybe give harry a break or maybe in for mackie?

Yep...wheel out Lonergan. He was good in the seniors before he got injured. Plays with a lot of guts.

Both Hunt and Taylor had a mid-air collision. Talyor was taken off (and looked a little concussed on the sidelines), so he might be in doubt perhaps.

I'd love for Ottens to play 2nd string ruckman to Blake until he is match fit ... because that means he'd be in the forward line. We need a shakeup down there and Otto is perfect. Size, talent, experience and he'd be just a bit toey to get in some action. It would probably make Mooney more confident and Hawkins feel less pressure. That would also be an excuse to bring Rooke into the side for Gamble or Hawkins. But i won't be convinced Ottens is playing till he actually plays ... definitely this week! if not this week definitely next week! but definitely the week after that!

A less than 100% Ling is still going to shut down a guy like Nick Stevens, no resting him.

I like it, we cant afford to play sore or injured players...barring Otto !? the changes show that we need our grunt back that we've lacked this year so far.
Just slip these changes under Bombers door...:thumbsu::cool:

Taylor out this week... Hasn't been bad until Collingwood game, but did look out of his depth, copped a big knock too. Won't hurt to have a few weeks in the VFL to get his confidence back. (Thats a minimum two out then..)

I really like having Harley and Milburn play on the other talls anyway. We played pretty well last september with this set up. Perhaps Mackie could benefit from a 'job' on a tall soon to get his mind back on the job. This setup also allows more run and composure out of the backline, apart form the wojak, something we were lacking.

And just on SJ having a rest?? Play him closer to goal if you want him to have a rest!
The man could kick goals with one leg, so keep him in the F50.

Chappy, Rooke, Ottens all pick themselves if fit this week.
West, Varcoe, Taylor out.

I think both Taylor and Hawkins are the 2 young players we need to take into every game this year if they're fit...

Development is important and I don't think they are that big a risk compared to anyone else on the list whilst their upside is very exciting.

No. No. No. No. No. No. No.

Did anyone watch where Ottens played the 2007 season? In the ruck. He's not a forward, we tried him at times for 2 years and it failed. We tried him in the ruck for 1 year and we won a premiership. Notice that?

He is not a forward, and he won't be coming in to rest there. He comes back and does his job - as a ruckman.

It's May. Max Rooke doesn't live for May. He lives for Spetember. He also doesn't live for free-flowing uncontested games at the Dome. He lives for hard crash-bang games at the MCG or SS. There's no point bringing him in for the Carlton match. Save him for the week after for the Kangaroos match. Pick and choose the matches he plays up until the finals. But that said, Ling is not right and must be rested. For the good of the team and our flag chances. So Rooke in for him.

Ins : Ottens, Chapman (Prismall), Rooke.
Outs : West, S.Johnson, Ling.

Sorry, but no way. This is AFL football. You don't get to pick and choose when you play. We go in with that attitude and we just might start losing games we shouldn't. You don't tamper with form (not that we have any), and you don't tamper with selection unnecessarily. We need Rooke's aggression, hardness and importantly experience. Especially against a young team like Carlton. We have to place them under maximum pressure physically. Varcoe and Gamble can't do it - but Rooke can.

I put the same changes elsewhere, but here goes.

INs: Ottens, Chapman, Rooke.
OUTs: West, Varcoe, Gamble.
