Well do

Well done, you took a couple of sentences and inferred all you want out of it. I'm not saying we're perfect or that we're in the right direction, just that i'm tired of huge overreactions and revisionist history. I get things need fixing, but people being overdramatic to a ridiculous degree.

Nah. People have had enough. We're hot garbage and have been for ages.

Palmer for butcher says it all...dont you get it

Who said it's Palmer for Butcher. Didn't ken say he needed an extra ruck? Last week Butcher spent time in ruck and was diabolical. Trengove needs help and Butcher can't provide it so straight swap for lobbe is a no brainer

This is the wrong thread but, well, that's depressing :( To think that when Ken joined our club he and KT said that our Premiership window was around 2016, 2017 yet now we look so far far far off it's not funny:( :( Perhaps we need to go back to scratch and build a list properly, a list that is taught the skills and attitude and mental fortitude correctly from the moment they join the club. Yes injuries and suspensions have hurt massively but we look an absolute shambles. The selections make no obvious sense, the game plan looks crap. It's a sad shame but I agree that work harder just isn't cutting it any more. A year is a long time and our fortunes could change next year but has too much damage been done? And as for Butch, well :( :( :(.

I am not sure about Butch and I like Palmer coming in.

Re the coaching standard / selections/ tactics etc
I have been consistent in arguing that it is more coaching letting down players than players not working hard enough FFS
I can't believe that with a midfield that has Gray ,Boak , Wines and Wingard in it we aren't a clearance machine
What I'm really trying to day is surely these players and others have gone backwards Under this coaching regime
Or is it some resigned lack of belief in the coaching / gameplan etc that is permeating through our players
at the moment ?
I would of thought we would have seen more Pittards ie natural upwards improvement in most young players of same age

I think before we judge some ( not all ) of the players that we look at the possibility of a directionless confusing coaching instruction over the last few years

Have you considered that a big part of the reason we didn't go forward was that one of the players playing KPP had no idea what to do and just stood stagnant all game? Or when he does make a half hearted lead he points that he wants the ball kicked to one spot and runs in a completely different direction?

Lucky Chad had the smarts to burn him in the 2nd qtr and go to Gray instead or we might have gone scoreless for the game.

I may have considered that if I didn't watch the game, but I did, from the ground, so I know exactly why we didn't go forward.

Seriously this is one of the more ridiculous points i've ever heard. We had 36 inside 50s, our lowest for 4 years. It wouldn't have mattered if Warren in his prime was in the forward 50. We got annihilated in the clearances and couldn't move the ball through their press at all. And it was bucketing down.

Butcher kicked a quarter of our goals for the entire game. The other 3 goalkickers were smalls. Even Buddy only managed 2 for the day despite their dominance because it was bucketing down and not a day for KPFs.

You've made a very idiotic point.

So in your blinkered view of the world, we had 36 inside 50s...yet our forwards failed to provide enough pressure to keep the ball locked inside and ensure repeat entries. In a game where it was bucketing down and it should have been easier to do so.

It's nothing to do with goal scoring at the point, or the weather, and everything to do with the poor defensive pressure that carrying two talls creates if they are going to spud it up because they can't hit the scoreboard. There's more to being a forward than just scoring goals at AFL level - which I'm pretty sure I said and you assured me that Butcher would bring said defensive effort. Franklin had 3 tackles to go with his 2 goals, which meant that he was getting involved even though it wasn't a day for talls.

Modern football that generates repeat forward 50 entries based on forward pressure - the press that Sydney put on us that we couldn't get out of - is the lifeblood of scoring in the today's game. Most scores are created from turnover and quick counter attack. But that only comes if you've got a forward line that is willing to work defensively.

I went to the game and watched it.

Our lack of entries wasn't to do with keeping it in. I havent seen a time in forward half stat but that would illustrate my point perfectly.
