Stewart, Blivcas, MOC (if fit)/Bews
Kolo Taylor Henry
Clark Danger Selwood
Menegola Hawkins Yablett
Dal Sav Narkle
Stanley Kelly Duncan
Int: 2e, Guthrie, Constable, Scooter/Parfitt (if fit)
Atkins and miers to be rested

Allright for the meat:
Out: Sav: yeah your important and fair enough you can't kick the most basic of set shots but to be too good to chase? F**k right off. Seeya.
Scooter: salt of the earth, getting the ball but then what? No clean clearances either.
Smith: Nothing much to say.
2E: Not best 22 anymore.
Bews: Tried and failed.
Henderson: If not on a shorter opponent and can't push him under the ball he offers nothing. Will drop those marks under lights in finals anyway.
In: Taylor, O'Connor, Dahlhouse, Stanley, Fort, Constable
Narkle & Cockatoo to put Atkins, Menegola and Guthrie under pressure in coming weeks.

Wowee, did Sav do something yesterday or is that an ongoing thing you've noticed?

The team is about to feel the media pressure for the first time all year.

Fox Footy labelled us pretenders. Mark Robinson a large section of his Monday column The Tackle to us highlighting the players who have dropped in form since the bye- based on SC points the biggest falls have been Rohan, Dahlhaus, Hawkins and Parfitt.

I suspect we’ll get a decent run on the TV shows tonight.

If there’s one thing I love, it’s seeing how a team responds after being under the pump all week. I’ve got many an upset tip right over the years this way.

Already looking forward to Saturday night and our response.

Atkins played his best game since first 4-5 weeks but hopefully Parfitt and Lukey D are back. I think we will give another chance to Menegola, so don’t see room for Atkins.

In: Stanley, Taylor, o’Connor, Constable Parfitt and Luke D
Out: Henderson, smith, Scott Selwood, Bews, Rohan and Atkins

I was going to post the exact same thought & I've wondered why it's taken so long for the media to give the cat's a serving for such poor form for a while now.

Let's hope this give's the boys fire in the belly & we're able to go back to the form we had before the bye & keep it going right through the finals.

I've defended Tuohy but i must admit i was concerned by a couple of things I saw on the weekend, he was almost a liability with his positioning defensively inside the Freo forward 50 and too often trailed his opponents in which allowed them first bite at the cherry.

He could almost do with pushing up on a wing, let him back himself in foot skill wise and be a deliverer inside 50... Also would rebalance the back 50 as I don't feel it's been right since Bews came back in

If Sen mornings is anything to go by, over the recent weeks where we lost games it was "Yeah it's just a minor slip up, nothing wrong there."
This is all starting to change now and there are serious concerns for Geelong now.

It's this preseason training load rumour actually true?

As is always the case the truth would be muddied with rumour and speculation.

I'm sure that to some extent player management was focused off of H&A and onto finals. Considering our preseason hard training approach it probably was a significantly harder load than opposition teams have been faced with. We've also been resting players which would only compound our vulnerabilities.

At the same time I don't think they were ever expecting or intending for things to get this bad. Both Joel and Scotty were as pissed as I can remember seeing them in the post match, which I think says it all. Suddenly the question is no longer when we return to our best, but if we even can. And if they were still overtraining with the confidence that it wouldn't hurt our H&A then they would have rocks in their heads.

After watching Scotts presser Saturday night,i felt he actually looked and sounded rattled.

There have been a few people speak about it in the media - J. Brown, I think Ling etc.

Also FWIW I just saw this post on the main board from a Carlton supporter:

"Good friends with someone involved with the club who told me a few weeks ago that Geelong have been using the luxury of games clear to put their players through a “mini” pre season to amp up for finals."

So there's evidence of the HTL if you want to believe it, but I remain unconvinced that we can just flick the switch when we need to.

I'd be more worried if he wasn't ...

This could explain why they looked decidedly tired v Freo

I don't think the club can mess around with resting players now, or else there's a chance we could finish 5th if we lose the last 3 games. I sincerely hope the club gets a lambasting on all the footy shows tonight, they deserve it. Maybe it'll give them the sting they need to play with heart, like they did in the first half of the season. Not this soft crap they've dished out since the bye. A lot of reputations are on the line this season at the club, and another finals failure will not bode well for the coaching group.

I've reached that point like every season since 2011 where I just don't really care anymore because I know what's going to happen. God it'd be nice to head into a September campaign with wind in our sails. :( Please turn it around this time, Cats.

Does anyone else recall during the pre season that the sports scientists were going to be given less of an input into training matters? It looks to me that the science has been overruling common sense over the last two months. It must be hard to chase tail in the second half of games when you've been destroyed on the training track during the week.
