Yeah hendo and selwood were totally a part of our poor form against hawthorn, footscray and port. Oh wait no they weren't they didnt play. Selwood and hendo weren't even in the bottom 6 players last week. Players like Atkins and kolo are sh** all the time and keep surviving.

Oh cool, so we’re back to critiquing Kolo now after 1 poor game.... 🤦🏻‍♂️

The last elite young gun ruck we invested in was often injured, and now getting many games at GWS. And not talking Mummy here.
St. Kilda's Marshall is a beauty in the making.
But they are so hit and miss.

You aren’t going to hit if you don’t try draft one at all. I agree they aren’t easy to identify.

Stanley must come in for Smith. We can only lament not having an A grade ruck, and stick with the best option we have available.

Tell Stanley he is playing for the rest of the season, and get him to fire up.
certainly got that one wrong.

I like the ins, but surprised at Smith staying, and surprised that Scooter is out, particularly given the weather this game will be played in.

You can play 3 big defenders if you dont have so many medium defenders.

We have often played 3 tall defenders.

Scarlett, Harley, egan

Scarlett, Taylor, lonergan

Lonergan; Taylor, rivers.

The reason we dont currently play 3 is we also have 3 medium slow defenders in kolo, Henry and Stewart. I'm not averse to dropping both Henry and kolo to fit in Henderson. Hendo is currently a better player then both when fit.

Foot speed isn't the be all and end all for defenders though. Cyril and Buddy would be able to burn off Boris and Lonners respectively, yet Boris and Lonners regularly took the Hawks duo to the cleaners whenever we played the Hawks during "the Kennett curse" years.

I think seeds is more talking about speed off the mark and agility

our backline is shit because its extremely limited offensively (very poor kicking skills, no run and carry)

Speed off the mark doesn't really matter though if you can read the play quicker than your opponent and beat him to the ball that way.

Question: Are the Cats a tad too tall in defence considering the predicted conditions? It's noted that North did drop a defensive tall for a smaller player.

Tags: Ablett - Atley upfield, Williams deep forward. Thompson to Danger when he goes forward.

My only wish for the game is that the maggots don't influence the outcome.

Yes he can run 100 metres and is a good jumper. Plenty of great 100 metres runners have never been all that mobile on a football field. Rhys stanley won a grand final sprint. Not exactly capable of being a great zippy forward pocket roving a scrum now is he. Clearly we need a different word to describe speed on a football field as far too many of you are confusing it with speed in a footrace run over 100 plus metres in a straight line.

To my eyes Henry is not slow. I rarely see him get caught with the ball.

We will have to agree to disagree.

our backline is s**t
are we talking about the backline that hasn't had 100 points kicked against it this

the issue isn't the backline, which is far from sh#t. The issue is what has changed from the first half of the season to what has happened in the second half.

That not only includes the structure of the team, and the game plan, but also how opposition are planning to confront that first half game style.

Biggest issue I can see is the pressure further up the field has dried up in recent weeks for whatever reason, which is allowing the opposition to waltz the ball out of our forwardline with monotonous regularity. Would love to see the time in front half differential stat before the bye compared to after the bye, as there'd be a massive decline over the last 6 weeks.

They have learned how to nullify the F50 defence which formed the core of our first half season gameplan.

As a result, their counter-attacks penetrate faster and deeper, and our whole game, both in defence and attack, has moved further up the ground; they push deeper into their F50, and we have to start our attacks from further back in our D50. Which means building more carefully to get past the opposition defenders who are now stationed further away from our goals, because a turnover when we're attacking is now more dangerous.

If that is so, and I am remain unconvinced that it is our problem or at least the major problem with our current form, then why don't we make some changes. And I am not even talking about a Plan B, just a different game plan.

I doubt you will need much more of a game plan on Saturday night other than win the centre clearance, bang it forward, drop an extra in to defence and lock it in the forward line. Geelongs edge in the centre square, and their ability to close up space on their ground, combined with the predicted weather conditions, is the reason I am expecting Geelong to grind out a win.

With the way we've set up at times over the last month, the bolded might be a challenge, especially if Goldstein gets on top of Smith, which is more than likely.

You must have forgotten all about the absolute bath Kelly gave us last time. He WAS the difference in that match.

From my perspective, I'm hoping the heavier conditions can slow him down enough for our grunts to go to work.

We were in form back then though, unlike now.

Rumor has it Charlie Constable will face the Geelong Magistrate court this morning on a number of charges including keying the car of one Chris Scott and slashing the tyres of several other selectors vehicles.

He’s an emergency so hoping he is a late in for guthrie (broken fingernail).

My only wish is you would fk off our page and stop pretending you don’t absolutely loath us you 2 faced rat. People haven’t forgotten how much you slagged us off last game.

I have many shortcoming's, but being two faced or snitching aren't among them, and for the record, Geelong wouldn't make the top 10 clubs that I supposedly "loathe".

I did rip in after the last match and I stand by that. I also stand by the 94 prelim, are you going to hold a grudge about that, or do you wanna have a sensible discussion about saturday nights match?

Interesting you would mention the umpires. Free kick tallies in the last half dozen games between the sides:

Round 4, 2015 - North 28 Geelong 12
Round 15, 2015 - North 26 Geelong 13
Round 12 2016 - North 19 Geelong 18
Round 2 2017 - North 25 Geelong 20
Round 12 2018 - North 32 Geelong 18
Round 8 2019 - North 21 Geelong 13
