I'm in the drop Rayner camp just because I don't think it's fair on him to keep playing him when he's out of form.

I can see a situation where we pick him again and he has a good game though. Will back the coaches in either way and then selectively complain about the decision if we lose.

Has had a few good games for sure. One game he had 15 disposals / 14 pressure acts but for some reason that rarely rates a mention.
They started him on a wing in that game and he actually started well ,had a good first 15 minutes where he was involved ,and ran out of gas . In the end he was only ordinary in that game.

Sometimes I think people have watched different games to me .I've supported him being there till about 3 games ago ,enough's enough. He needs to relearn how to take marks again ,a confidence thing ,how to chase , how to wait for the crumbs when you've already got a team mate bigger than you going up , and how to get in the way of the opposition when you can't get a kick yourself. All of these things he will do well given the opportunity to get back to basics and be involved in the game.

I just think we're doing him a massive disservice.

I would prefer it if Rayner at the Lions was not mentioned in the same conversations as other pick ones ruined by their poor development in a side (remember when we would feel sorry for player X for being drafted to Melb or Carlton etc). I figure some blokes need to pressure of the ones to develop, some get a taste then go back knowing what they need to work on, and some just grow nicely in the twos and merge seamlessly when they are first promoted. Which one Cam is I haven't the foggiest but I sincerley hope Fages and Co do (and would prefer that over the blind spot or just playing favourites options mentioned).

Btw is anyone playing the role he plays in the twos and if so who is it?

I think the role thing is overplayed . Unlike last year the reason he plays where he does is because it's the only position he can currently play without exposing his endurance.

I agree ,let's not have a Watts thing ,let him earn his place on merit like anyone else . It'll make it a lot easier on him over time.

As to whether anyone else can do better where he's currently playing well that's still conjectural I guess. What we want are lees clangers/more contest.

Bring in 6 blokes who have been dropped because their form in the seniors wasn't good enough to hold their spot?
Walker was ‘team balance’ wasn’t he?

Perhaps he’ll get another 3 possessions against the Saints and we can again praise his amazing performance.

I hate the word 'amazing'. People use it all the time. Most of the time 'slightly perturbed' would fit better.

Rayner getting very few possession, meh. I would be rather perturbed if he got say twenty, got his one touch footy back, and was named in the best players. I want him to have a few easy high possession games in the Twos to get some confidence back.

I am firmly of the belief that playing him when his form trajectory is downwards is not the right thing to do if we want Rayner back playing well as soon as possible. I don't really care that much who they bring in to replace him.

I wouldn't have thought so given he's missed the last 2 games (against tall forward lines) after playing terribly against the Crows and Freo.

It's a bit of team balance given that Andrews is playing his role, much better. If he was any good defensively or able to play on more mobile key forwards he would've played the last couple of games.

You are contradicting Fagan. He stated team balance as the reason Walker was dropped. You are not claiming to know more than the Coach are you ! 😉

It might have been the first time (when you are referring to). Not sure it was the second time (Fagan has said nothing since).

Actually, he said it was both form and balance a few weeks ago.

Is Fagan contradicting himself now?

You'll probably just ignore it and stick to your own narrative but I'm pretty certain he was directly asked after Walker was dropped the second time for a reason why and he didn't give an answer.

Also pretty certain he never stated that Walker was dropped for team balance but this has just been assumed.

From memory he was asked if Walker was dropped for balance or due to form. Fagan said both but he wasn't going to discuss what he speaks to the players about or something along those lines.

I think people referred to that as ‘embarrassed silence.’ He got that wrong. Watch Walker walk back into the team this week.

As I thought. Put it in your little box and try and make yourself feel better by bringing others down.

Hardly. But while we are on the topic, I honestly think the ‘meanest’ thing I ever said about you was that you should go back to supporting the Broncos. You on the other hand ...

Let’s see what Fagan gives us to talk about this Thursday night.

... and stop stalking me jackess. I can’t post without you jumping all over me. I’m beginning to think you like me.
