Prediction Changes vs. Brisbane

They're my fave threads, lol...

The three weeks after we pump Brisbane are telling.
Collingwood, Richmond, West Coast.
We could just as easy be 10-5 or 7-8 on current form.
Actually got a pretty favourable run home.
But...

after getting R*PED by Essendon we really need to win all three of those and prove that was simply a one off not a worrying trend from the last two years of being inconsistent and simply not turning up.

Thursday night ... Best night of the week! The game on Saturday is just a sideshow!

Well Ken is at least consistent, you can't fault that! Love seeing Houston back in, that is the only "real" change made. The other two are just the regular fringe shuffle.

While I am cranky with Ken for missing a great opportunity, I am not going to add my voice to the chorus of abuse. When Neade and Young run out on Saturday I hope they play blinders!

Port home games have been really boring this year. The vibe in the crowd has been "off".

Hasn't been much chanting either, probably because we haven't had any of those genuine kick four goals in 6 minutes bursts that used to be a hallmark and instead have just ground teams with a steady flow.

I don't know if it's just me, but it has felt like people just haven't been feeling it. Likely also to do with the opposition, the margins and the fact we haven't knocked a team off at home that everyone would consider a good win.

After the Hawthorn win my circle was of the opinion we should be 10-4 after the next month of games.

I opined we'd lose one or two of Essendon-Brisbane-Collingwood-Richmond because it's who we are.

Getting smashed by 70 didn't figure in my calculations, admittedly.

Neade wouldn't even start for Brisbane.

Jake Barrett is miles better than Neade both offensively and defensively and they picked him up as a GWS discard in the rookie draft.

Outs are fine, ins are fairly boring.Replace Neade with Atley and that's a pass. Then replace Young with Howard and it's probably a good week.

Sort of the changes that I don't feel hugely excited about nor greatly disappointed in.
I'm with this. The fact that Jake does not have that "uncanny goal sense" is a problem for me. Small full forward line players have to kick f***ing goals. Having defensive skills is a bonus, but its all about goals. Young and Houston is good. Dont know enough about Dougles situation to be critical.

Flat.

I feel like this guy -

Emma Watson with a beard??

**** even Toumpas had more tackles than him and he got dropped.

I mean ****, what does he have to do to actually get punished?

Every coach has a player he loves, but nobody understands why. In Brazilian soccer, we call this kind of player "bruxo do técnico" ("coach's wizard").

It looks like Atley will play less than ten games this year so will be rising star eligible next year
What's good i guess

There was a very defensive-minded coach in Grêmio, and people started to joke that he invented a new position: defensive forward. Your post reminded me of those days...

I also can't get how anyone can watch last weeks match and think

You know what Port do need more small forwards

If I understood the reviews and comments, we lost the game in the midfield.

He might push for an early return to Melbourne to play with his brother

I've said 9-5, but we lost the first one already...

Yes - Hartlett. His average stats per game for 2017 - 17.4 disposals, 4.3 marks, 2.1 tackles. If he keeps this up this will be he his worst year since 2010, his second year on our list.
By comparison Pittard's average stats per game for 2017 - 21.4 disposals, 5.4 marks, 2.2 tackles. Stats wise this is his second best season after 2016.
I know stats don't mean everything, but I think some one must have some photos hidden away.

Also factor in that Pittard has an opponent and Hartlett is the +1.

Hamish should be averaging 25+ disposals per game.

I have gone into bat for Pittard plenty of times but last week's game was worthy of being dropped. Either he was injured and is being rested or was gutless and refused to chase, either way he was a clear out. It is a fair point that Hartlett was just as bad in the work rate department. I didn't expect 6 changes, but I think those 2 had to go out to show Hinkley was serious. Alot of other coaches took a while to admit they were wrong, but got there eventually, i.e Buckey Re: Mayne, Clarkson with Vickery, etc. I don't know what it will take for him to drop Hartlett. I don't think either he or Westhoff have been dropped in Hinkley's entire tenure which I find staggering.

Funny how we lost the game in the midfield yet we bring in a hit up lead forward in young who is expected to plsy midfield, neade who can pressure well but if anyone has seen a second of his sanfl disposal you would no its atrocious; loopy/ kicks falling short, handballs to the ground or overheads oh boy were in for a game by neade on saturday

Houston for pittard is ok i guess. Just annoying we dont blood a drew or atley even a palmer or howard against the lowest side in the comp.

Watching Drew or Atley debut would have given me a reason to go this Saturday twilight. But watching Neade play his 52nd? Nah.

Carn there wouldnt be one person here that knew exactly what would happen tonight

Its always been shuffling the fringe player deckchairs with Ken. I dont buy that Jasper has been dropped. He is "sore" or "injured"

In my opinion its one of the reason our players are so soft. There is no fear of being dropped if you are one of the "core group"
They can play shit week after week after week and they know they are safe

Nothing will change while Ken is in charge.

Neade in was always going to happen. Young in was always gonna happen. Same With Toumpas and Ah Chee. Its those same deckchairs over and over again.
This was a perfect opportunity to make a real statement. Atley should have been in. Howard should have been in. Hartlett and S Gray should have been out.. Hell perhaps even R Gray. Put this soft as butter group on notice.

I wish Ken had some Luke Beveridge sized balls

Haha, please, only reason the board want Howard and Atley in is they haven't yet played enough games for ya'll to moan about.

Butcher is luckily he didn't get to play many games in a row.

I was looking forward to another random Jarred Redden/Matthew White appearance after a decade out of the game.

Could we not have promoted Dom off the Rookie List?
