If Ken wants to back in his system, there's nothing I can do about it. I'm glad he's got rid of Ah Chee and dumped Toumpas and put in another high forward, because that means Boak can spend more time in the midfield.

The system is good. The players are wrong, but we can't play the right players yet, because they are either in the final stages of recovery from an ACL (Howard) or out injured (Monfries). So we make do with what we have.

I spend more time arguing with Janus than any other poster on this site but I still respect him as a poster. I'll respect anybody who actually makes an effort to justify their arguments, even if I don't agree with them.

I just don't follow your consistency. Sometimes your posts are good (as in I agree with them or find it deeper thinking to consider) but it's like the power from port sometimes, you decide that whatever Ken decided was right so you change your views to support or justify him. Something like that anyway. I just thought maybe 3 months ago you saw the light and accepted his tactics were made up as he went along, always reactive after the horse has bolted, and we're noting that he actually had no substance. It seems now you're back on the Ken wagon and well, there's no way to justify not playing Howard or selecting Neade, but your back on the hidden genius angle again.

a) Is he playing reduced minutes in the SANFL or being managed in some other way?

b) Why did Ken say it was because he needed to further prove himself as a KPF first after being played down back?

Is it possible that we can't play an Ately/Drew or any other 1st year medium/small AND SPP at the same time as none of them are fit enough at this stage of their careers to play decent game time in the AFL and it will kill our rotations? I think it could be a factor in the selections.

If this was the grand plan then why didn't Monfries come in when he was fit and firing?

When has Jake Neade ever had a problem performing at junior/state level? It's what saw him drafted in the first place and rack up 51 games over 5 years at AFL level. 20 tackles against the Panthers and West? Yawn.

Consistently performing and holding his place in the senior side is what his critics have an issue with. What makes this time different? What evidence is there that he won't have the same deficiencies at the highest level?

When our forward line already contains Impey, Sam Gray and a half-rat Robbie Gray as smalls?

It's just more of the same, like the bizarre Toumpas story of the past fortnight.

He's not up to it, but he'll perform ok against the worst team in the league, hold his spot and then go MIA at the MCG the week after.

Then we'll drop him for, I don't know, Monfries(?) and we'll all marvel at how much we missed the veteran's guile, smarts and clutch gene.

Neade has been good at SANFL level this year and it's clear from the coaches that his work has been rated well. I think this year he's shown a better ability to stay involved throughout a game, and contrary to popular belief here his ball use is ok.

The main argument against his inclusion, as you've said as well, seems to be based on the preconceived idea he's unable to improve, and not going to consistently perform at the top level. So we've got a host of preemptive wailing and complaining based on an outcome yet to occur, without giving him an opportunity to take his chance.

The way I look at it is this;
1)Does his selection help correct our deficiencies against Essendon and hence help improve our structure? Yes
2)Historically, Neade has the highest winning percentage of any of our players >50 games, so his positive impact on our forward line (when playing well) is not a stretch.
3) Has he shown good SANFL form and has improved his ability to stay involved.

Both also share the philosophy that if there are 17 coaches standing in one corner they will go stand in the other.

When eventually proven right they'll go down as geniuses!
