I don't see any WAFL ....I have a real life to live lol

McInnes v Barras ...who's the better player ...talent v athletic ability v natural footballer ...

I don't see any WAFL
Barrass has been best on or close seemingly every week, always gets praise from the various reports and from the game (yes, just the one) I've seen televised he was in control of the backline at WAFL level. Has been an emergency for us at least once this year, can see him slotting straight in. Has McInnes covered, now let's see how he goes on Buddy ;)

IN: McInnes/ Barrass ~ Butler ~Hutchings starting 21?
OUT: McGovern (injured) ~ Selwood (omitted)

Barrass is the more like for like replacement for McGovern but McInnes is in good form at WAFL level and considering he has a bigger body size (keeping in mind we will be against Franklin, Goodes and maybe Tippett/ Reid) I'd be inclined to play Fraser and use him down back.

Butler if he is fit needs to play IMO and although it probably won't happen I'd rather see a statement made by giving Selwood a run with Royals than Hutchings

Yeo seems to play different roles depending on the context of the game anyway. Id hope we back in Barrass and not take Yeo out of the middle. With the way our season has gone, lets roll the dice and not be conservative. Who knows Barrass could be an instant star too..

Butler in, drop Selwood, move Ellis into the midfield. Don't mind Hutchings playing a full game either if it comes to that.

Our defense needs quick bodies and smarts, size we have seen is not quite as important. Barrass for Gov.

Ellis rotates up onto the wing for a link or contest, but he's been a general down back with Hurn and Schofield. He's a defender and will stay that way for us, it's enough that he's back playing footy and we shouldn't be flirting too much with his game.

Out Mcgovern, Selwood
In Barrass, Mcinness
Play Mcinness at CHF with the option to push him back. It may help Darling if we have another key forward.

Yep. Plus Butler has actually played through the midfield a bit this year, and done OK for that matter - certainly better than Selwood has. I'll take composure over speed any day.

We can also give Hutchings a full game IMO. Selwood out or sub again, his only decent performances have been as sub when his pace plus the other players being tired combines to give him a little more time than he gets when he plays from Q1.

Who comes out for butler?

Selwood obviously. If simmo doesn't have the grapefruits to drop him after what has been a horrid 5 weeks of football for him, they'll do this...

OUT - McGovern (Hamstring), Selwood (Knee)
IN - Barass, Butler

The old fake the knee injury trick to save face. Mark it down.

Barrass must come in. The Gov will be out for a couple of weeks at least and this isn't a great time of the year to do a hammie with finals in another 8 weeks.

Barra has earned a call up, is in good form and we now need him. We don't want him debuting close to or in a final situation.

The Weagles web will help any young inexperienced back man especially a KP back.

Play Schofield in the McGovern role zoning off and put Barra on the second tall forward, Tippett or maybe Goodes if Tippett is out.

Play Sheppard on Franklin and let Schofield and Hurn zone off in front of any leads.

Team defense has worked so far and FFS can we just kick straight this week.

Barrass is a fair bit like McGovern, in that he backs himself and likes to go for the marks, rather than spoiling. Seems to have a natural footy brain and natural flair. Exactly the type of player I normally don't like :D, but I like him and McGovern a lot. :)

Have a snickers and stop shouting mate ^_^

Get barrass in and get him used to the speed of afl . We may need him come finals and I would rather him have 4 games + under his belt . I would be tempted to keep him in for a few more once gov is back too .

Yep. We are a bee's dick away from needing to play him in finals so these big games will give him a sense for the occasion. Better get used to it now rather than in September.
