Josh Carr is a terrible commentator on Port games. When we were at our lowest ebb a few years back he'd continually back in the 22 and call for no changes.

I think White will come in and push Boak to the wing.

Would like to see a change re Trengove going back and Howard/Eddy coming in as well but not sure we will see that. We looked best when Paddy was up forward providing a leading option so we need a forward who can do fhat in the side

It might also be time to try Palmer over Young

Boak is allready playing wing and this is a huge issue.

As a wingman you need to hit targets.

Chad and Impey need to play wind this week or Pittard.

If we then play Westhoff he should play wing but not as a forward.

Take a punt with Hartlett up forward because he is becoming the next Lobbe very quickly.

We need a extra quality inside mid so time to play Atley.

If Doggle scores well this week we need to play him .

I know this wo t happen but Palmer is a better option than neede and probably Young.

We need to make these sort of changes if we truly believe we are wanting to be a consistent top 4 team.

I don't think our pace is as important as some people are making out. We need to fix our workrate and skills before anything else. Speed of ball movement and accuracy > leg speed. This is what makes Polec a great player, not his ability to run fast.

Perhaps one of these guys can play outside too. Not convinced we have the team balance right yet. I'm not gonna get carried away with 'like for like' replacements while there's so many being played in odd positions.

Speed of ball movement can only compensate for leg speed when you are attacking.

When teams are steaming off half back with pace leg speed is required to pressure them.

I know this will be an unpopular opinion as he is such a good guy.
But I don't see the point in Trengove. He is not a ruck and not a forward. Possibly the slowest player in the afl. We have good developing rucks and forwards in the maggies waiting to go. Is the heroics from last year holding back development this year.

This is how I saw it too.

The second half, with Dixon playing centre half, Ryder deep full forward, Trengove rucking and Westhoff and Impey in defence, was Ken replicating a setup that has Dixon centre half, Howard deep full forward, Ryder rucking and Trengove in defence. Impey had to drop out of the forward line to make room.

It was also Ken conceding that Trengove isn't working up forward - maybe Ken and Lade were arguing about that?

All signs point to Howard for Collingwood.

Young for White (it's not like Young is fast and White is a better forward), Polec for Howard. Put Impey on the wing (I believe he played his best game last year against Collingwood on the MCG in that position).

I think you probably have the team we should go in with. It is just as likely Impey was moved back because he was getting a cold in the forward line. As to the other reasoning, who knows. it certainly looked like Trengove got a longer run in the ruck. Why is the question. Now it is up to Howard to be played forward and kick a few. Feel bad for Eddy though.

The chasm in performance between Young and Neade in the SANFL last week vs AFL this week is concerning, both games against bottom ranked opponents. Apart from Houston, who seems a cut above, none of the others who have been brought in this year have performed at the level required.
Let's hope all this excitement about Atley, Howard and others isn't over rated too but I guess if we don't play them, we'll never know.

Doogy showed enough last year.
Atley showed in preseason games he will go well at this level.

after doing nothing in the AFL side and being dropped twice he had then one week of running around in the seconds against the worst side in the SANFL in a position he doesn't play in the AFL side…. how could we not have picked him ?
