I think Trengove is more No 2 ruck than a forward. Dont agree with resting him in defense, simply because of fatigue. Something like that could cost three or four goals. I would much rather our Eddy replace Jake Neade. Not exactly like for like, but if he is involved in goals, Its a winner. The whole point in even turning up, is goals.

If I were Neade I'd be studying Eddie Betts game day in and day out - that is, how to play like a proper small forward ie crumb and get the ball over the top.

But instead Neade tries playing like hes a key forward - tries to win a 1 on 1 marking contest with a defender twice his size, goes for the same marking contest as Ryder instead of waiting for the fall etc

Sturt are a decent side though much more competitive than the West outfit we pummeled last week so we probably went in a little complacent.

Was just funny to see Battersby & Muffins get 60 possesions & 20 marks between them. Sam in particular you'd think we'd know enough about how hard a runner he is to not allow him so much link up play.

Just too slow, if you're slow then you need to kick goals.

It's sad watching him try to chase defenders doing a rebound. It's like he's not even there.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that Trengove rests in defence, more that he plays there full time like he did for several years, winning a B&F and being a part of our best defensive unit since Wakelin retired.

Generally, that sort of pressure has not been handled well by our team.

Surely Eddy comes in, we need forward targets and players that can kick goals.
Trengove was our best defender, its his best position, must get back into the defensive 6, right now we need him in there
I think either Drew or Atley deserve a chance in Impey's spot

Out: Polec, In: Pittard. It's not exactly inspiring, but given that nobody put their hand up and said 'pick me' this week, Pittard's the best available player so he makes sense to be the one to come back in. Any one of him, Broadbent or Hartlett should be capable of playing an outside midfield role.

Out: Young, In: Eddy. There's zero reason to be playing Young instead of Eddy in the role we're currently playing Young. If we wanted to use his flexibility to run him through the middle, sure, but we're not doing that. We're playing him as a pure marking target inside 50. In that role, give me Brett Eddy over Aaron Young every day of the week. Collingwood play a similar shorter backline to us with a focus on 'team defence', so we need somebody who's going to be able to keep a Tom Langdon or Jeremy Howe type occupied which will take some heat off of Dixon. There's nobody in Collingwood's side who'll be able to match Dixon one-on-one.

Despite Neade being my personal whipping boy, he may as well stay in for team balance reasons this week. Neade, Gray and Impey's defensive pressure stays in the side to balance out Eddy and Trengove's lack thereof, but at least with Eddy instead of Young we'll look more capable of kicking goals. Plus Neade has only played one shit game as opposed to Young's seven or eight shit games.
