Dougal's 8 goals weren't enough because it was against a poor team and he's raw.

Is Eddy's 6 goals against Sturt enough to get him in? It should be.
When he wasn't leading, marking & kicking goals what were his defensive pressure point tackling acts n' high forward ball retention endeavors like? & does he lead wide enough to the boundary to fit in the AFL side?

How did Howard play at Sturt? Did he play forward or back?

I'd rather we just picked Howard and honestly long term i'd rather we develop Howard over Eddy, but we're probably now in a situation where you'd have to pick Eddy if you were going to bring in a tall. Eddy's form has been excellent, as we knew it would be at SANFL level.

Howard had limited opportunities because Sturt killed us in the midfield but I thought he looked very good with what he did. He looks super sharp and fit.

Ken stated in his presser after the lions game re; polec that the boys playing in the magoos, who ever shows up will get a call up.
The only one that showed up was Eddy, again.
He brought in White start of the year with absolutely no show of form. Neade gets a gig who is borderline useless.
If he (Eddy) doesn't come in then it's the same old bullshit spin from this bloke regarding rewarding good form. The old drop a bloke who's been stinking it up for a week, then comes straight back in is getting ****ing old.

Is that a joke, he got destroyed and looked way off the pace. yes our midfield was destroyed because we persisted with an ordinary ruckman, but the lack of opportunities didn't stop our true key forward kicking 6.

No joke. He was always up against two defenders as far as I recall. Took 5 contested marks and looked ok IMO.
I was seeing the game from the wings ... where were you?

Agree 100%

This was the highlight of the night for me, it became glaringly obvious Trengove up forward isn't working and that we need a natural forward that can work and present on the lead and Paddy showed us what our forward line was desperately missing. So given we don't have 2 of Paddy, hopefully he will realise that using an actual forward in Eddy or Howard is the way forward.
Many of us have known this for ages, it's infuriating. It would be easier to climb Mt Everest than get Ken to implement a decent forward structure

Eddy was terrific. Feel for our young mids. We got thrashed in the middle because Lobbe rucked for 3 quarters. In the second half he took EVERY centre bounce, not one chopout. Worst coaching performance and quite frankly ridiculous.

Dixon plays his best footy upfield in the old CHF spot and Eddy is a genuine lead from the square FF who can double back on empty space behind him.

They should work really well together, like Scott and Darren or Tim and Dave ;).

I think he was back at times

Funny, I thought Lobbe did ok in the ruck but the mids around him failed to take advantage.

Comments on the game day thread seemed to be that Lobbe was pretty good but the mids stuffed the advantage he was giving them.

I agree

agreed. he looked good sat night taking marks outside 50 and leading hard up the ground

Hammer as a wing ???

Phil Harrison just chocked on his weet bix.
Or better still Westhoff on the wing. Losing my mind. These players are NOT quick enough to play wing. Find some genuine wingers. Experiment with young players not players that have been tried and failed. Be brave Ken, the rewards are greater.

Pocket, left of the radio dial...

He was good on the air but I thought he looked a bit off it yesterday.

IN
Pittard
Palmer
Eddy (would have liked Howard but didn't do enough last week, and one great game against Westies isn't enough, needs repeat good games up forward.

OUT
Polec(inj)
Young
Neade

On thin ice
Hartlett (not a defender, time to play as center square specialist with short bursts through the midfield and plays as a high half forward)

Impey - goes missing to often, but with polec out his outside run could be handy in the midfed, last chance !

Sam Gray - not quiet up it, but don't want to make too many changes, especially with a shortage of guys putting their hands up (half forwards that is) with Monfries injured. Sure Atley and Drew look good but both are Mids not half forwards.

Play Hammer as a high forward if we absolutely have to have him in that side. Surely he could play Neade's role better than Neade or Young's role just as well as Young.

Can take a mark and had a lethal leg.... he should be more forward, easily kicks goals from outside 50, remember Dew.....

I'm sure Westhoff lined up at CHF for the first bounce. Ball came out to him and he gave off the quick handball to player running past. I thought, finally this could work. Next bounce Westhoff on the wing, SGray at CHF. *Sigh*
