We are sitting top 4, fighting for possibly a top 2 finish, with a young team including a 2nd year rookie in Houston and carrying a lower game time first year player in SPP. We are blooding youth where appropriate whilst still trying to win a flag which is very realistic. Yet you want to bring in another tall forward to replace an injured small winger/hbf, because he is young?

i don get this, Matt White hasnt played a good game in 2 years, the biggest worry with collingwood is thier midfield who have the potential to rack up big numbers, if they are racking up big numbers and controlling the ball then we are in real trouble.

Man I hate this point in the season, which seems to happen every year under Hinkley. I call it the funk.

When the coach goes loco, the players seem burnt out and the only way out of it is a couple of terrible losses.

The last few years, the funk has killed our season. I'm praying it won't again.

The 2 games in the SANFL we have lost in the last month ie since the loss to WWT at Alberton on 20th May White has got 15 disposals against WWT ( he was average at best, I saw that game) and 6 against Sturt at Unley. One presumes the game at the MCG will be a lot tougher than those two games. He might luck out and get plenty of ball feed to him by Wines, Ebo and SPP. He struggles to burn off sanfl players.

Like how we probably need a guy on the wing who is fast enough to push across and cover through the midfield on a ground that is 10-15m wider than Adelaide Oval?

If Kardinia Park is corridor central, and you only need 3 and 1/2 players to maintain your shape through midfield, then it stands to reason that at the MCG you need 4 1/2 players. You can either get that 1/2 with a player that has elite endurance (Monfries) or a player with speed (White). If Amon wasn't injured, he'd be coming in. But he is, so we get White instead.

What it also does is allow us to play that pure counter attack slingshot style that Essendon used against us with great effect that we didn't have a counter for because we had no one with outside run to get over the top of their defensive wall on half back.

White has been in the top three best players for the past three weeks. He was second emergency two weeks ago, and has been first emergency last week and now this week. He can play in the forward line and on the wing. It's not that big a stretch that he gets a shot. You wouldn't bother with it on a smaller ground, but it's extremely easy to get trapped in the pockets at the MCG.

ermmm, I am not sure which particular stat you are using but, using DT points (I know is not highly accurate but a good approximation surely?)

v Sturt: 28 DT points (dead set worst for us, see below)
v West: 96 points (middle of the road)
v South: 91 points (7th for us in his best performance of the past 3 matches)

He was also `largely anonymous ' in the 3 games games I have attended at Alberton this season.

I wasn't even aware he was on the field against the chooks, but apparently he was.

if we get beaten on the inside Ken is gonna look really stupid, the obvious thing will be ken saying in the post game press conference 'you cant get beaten by that much in the contested possession and expect to be the winner' ....well duh stupid. I never though Matt White was worth risking your career over?

I suspect its Ken plan to get the ball into impey & white's hands on the wings with the instruction to just burn off the opposition and expose their defense with some Joe-the-gooses over the top, but i still dont like it
