Changes vs Collingwood @ MCG

White has averaged around 19 touches and a goal a game over the last month. Hes not been getting 6 touches every week

And the same people complaining about White's last game would have been stoked for Howard to come in ignoring his last game! Form is a body of work over a month or so people!

We are top 4 and genuinely fighting for top 4, so the experienced White over Drew makes sense, given they have had similar form and we have no other wingers.

i really don't care this much about selection dude, i just care about winning, and going by my watch the game hasn't even started.
Sorry, you commented on selections. Don't care noted.

IMO it was the wrong decision to select White for the GWS game not just because he was wrong type of player to bring in, but also because he was underdone.

He should at the very least offer more this weekend than what he offered against GWS.

Considering how low that bar is and the relative strength of the opposition he most definitely should.

He had 11 touches 0.0 against GWS. He didn't have much influence that game and there's really nothing to suggest that tomorrow will prove any different.

He shouldn't have been picked for that game as he was severely underdone. This is much different, especially on a large ground that suits his type.

Yeh definitely doesn't have anything to do with Howard being nine years younger...

OK, Whitey is an 'in'...........please don't have another case of hamstring 'tightness' or any other injuries. Will just wish him all the best and trust he has a cracking game - along with the rest of the team.

When the bar is so low it is easy to exceed expectations :D

Nah, this is ******.
Anyone who saw the Maggies play knows White was ******* anonymous.

Smells of Redden against Sydney in 2015.

No, the first time White was selected smelt of Redden in Sydney. This time it smells more of Simon Phillips getting promoted after four SANFL touches.

The negativity can be a bit much on here sometimes

The shit selections have been a bit much all year too. Fix them and the negativity will stop.

White has been in the top three best players for the past three weeks. He was second emergency two weeks ago, and has been first emergency last week and now this week. He can play in the forward line and on the wing. It's not that big a stretch that he gets a shot. You wouldn't bother with it on a smaller ground, but it's extremely easy to get trapped in the pockets at the MCG....

Bullshit Janus, you are trying to make up facts to fit your thesis. I don't know where you got that from, but there is a work experience type journo who writes the SANFL review pages on the Port website and I wouldn't trust those BP's. grimlock - a swans supporter, puts up the stats in every sanfl game day thread, so maybe he can explain where he gets the best players from, but White hasn't been in the top 3 players for Port for the past 3 games in a row.

The last 3 SANFL game stats.

Okay so as an established AFL player he's been performing at an average level in sanfl. And last week had 6 touches as acting captain. This warrants a call up?

I hope he goes well and I don't think he's the difference between winning and losing. But his selection ahead of the young kids Hinkley claims he is not afraid to pick is nonsensical. Even if he plays well it doesn't gloss over that fact that this is an opportunity missed to give a young player a game.

The discussion was about form being longer than one week and people complaining that 6 touches and a goal wasn't enough, when Howard had 7 touches and no goals. Age is irrelevant. But while we are at it...

We are sitting top 4, fighting for possibly a top 2 finish, with a young team including a 2nd year rookie in Houston and carrying a lower game time first year player in SPP. We are blooding youth where appropriate whilst still trying to win a flag which is very realistic. Yet you want to bring in another tall forward to replace an injured small winger/hbf, because he is young?

Talk about structure if you want but age.. lol.

He kicked goal of the year in 2014
Ah well that's when he last had a influence. Since he tore hit tit hes been trudging a long doing not much. These selections are really quite laughable? No wonder butch said he and some other blokes were confused and scratching their heads with selections last year..

Butcher was performing at SANFL level consistently last year having his best year statistically and that never came into consideration..

It's obvious though they want to play White because they don't want to look like they ****ed up another contract extension last year.

2014 - Good
2015 - Average
2016 - Injured
2017 - Awful.

Reads like the summary of a player who's unfortunately fallen off the footballers cliff.

So it is Matt White's turn to get roasted this week about his selection before he even gets the chance to pull his boots on.

Would've been nice to see a debut of Atley and Drew or Palmer back in to the side but the 2 out for the 2 in is reasonably balanced. Why would've the club kept Matt White on the list if they weren't prepared to give him a run.

I prefer to give players a chance before losing the plot. If he plays like shit and we lose, that is when i'll melt.

Matt White, Aaron Young, Jake Neade, Sam Gray. This is Hinkley's revolving door of players he'll bring in on a whim. If you are outside of this select group you'd better smash the door off the hinges to get a run and put your position completely beyond doubt once inside.

The thing is we know all we're ever going to know about this privileged group. They have nothing more to show us. Under normal circumstances we'd be moving on and trying other options, but Hinkley is in contract survival mode so will continue going back to this particular well, to the detriment of us all.
