I'm not sure I see the like for like. X can also run through the middle and go forward and has uncanny reading of a game ...

Ones a very very good footballer hindering from being elite only by his frail body.

That was definitely part of it. Wanted to move McGovern forward and needed a 7th defender. Preferred Wilson to Brennan, and Carter hasn't played for a couple of weeks.

Ins - we are running out of soldiers so whoever the MC feel is up to it. Possibly Smith (gets helmet on), Colledge or McGuiness.

Ellis obviously out, Frenchy in. Leave the team to develop and grow as they are. Torn about Coxy but would be ok with him out and Colledge in. Id love to see Cox go out on a high after the Pies game but also understand he may be quite inspirational for us in his last few games..if hes in then hopefully he can play well but that does worry me in a big game like this.

We need run, a lot if it, against Essendon. If we go too tall we will get torn apart on the spread and rebound. They move the ball better than us.

So it's a tough call keeping in Cox or going for an extra small. Unless we play Naitanui more as a rover around the packs - which I noticed when Lycett was rucking.

Hopefully Lecras gets up - he's been in great form pre-calf.
