Not thrilled with Eddy being left out. Of all the tall forwards he's the only one who knows how to play like a league forward.

I guess they were looking for extra run and pace on Adelaide Oval. Looking at the line up that's a lot of talls in the forward line so I get the logic.

I have to admit I'm not completely won over by Impey yet. Has some good highlight reel moments but I would like to see him have a consistently good game as either as a high half half forward or across the midfield.

Happy Impey is in after his performance last week. Was very good. Should have been for Sam Gray, not Eddy though.

He was certainly up n about for the time he spent on the field. I was too harsh on a previous post re his DE and
decision making. The Imp is one of my favourites I was as much angry about Sammy keeping his spot as Eddy
losing his. I look at Will Snelling tear it up in the Magpies and wonder if he (and others!) has a future with us
when selection continues to baffle. Is our AFL list full atm?

We didn't win or lose on the weekend because of our height. We won on the weekend because our midfield won the contested footy. That's not a structure thing, it's an effort and attitude thing.

Let's not get hung up on structure based on Eddy playing or not.

Whilst Eddy didn't get involved with many touches, his movement kept him involved, made the Sydney defenders accountable and for the first time in a long time we actually looked like we had a forward line that could play footy.
I feel this is a very poor decision by Ken. Let's see how our forward line functions, but I'm thinking bombs away....

I think we should all take a breath - Eddy will get his chance. The selectors obviously believe Imp will provide more ... this week.
Snelling will also get his turn if he continues his form and as for Sammy G - he isn't polished but is 100% committed every week.

Eddy was WOG with three touches last week, he's currently our fourth tall forward, and he's being replaced by a very talented young player who was a walk-up start in our 22 in the second half of last year and who we might need in the side to combat the Hill brothers and Pearce, Stephen Hill especially. I would've liked to have seen Eddy get another shot too, but it's hardly dropping Butcher as our 2nd KPF and replacing him with Kane Mitchell. No melts here.

Snelling is deffs on the right track in his development.

If he wasn't on the rookie list I reckon he'd be just behind Monfries and Austin as players outside our squad of 25.

FTR I think Impey is a more talented player than Eddy and if we weren't considering structure and the team's performance against Sydney I'd have Impey ahead of Eddy in the pecking order

I think the problem is Eddy got 3 JLT games where I think by memory he kicked 6 goals all up. He worked his way into the first 22, and due to wet weather, first game jitters etc whatever, he did not have a good game, despite being directly involved in 2 goals.

Then you have Impey who has never set the competition on fire, brought the club into disrepute with poor off-field choices in the off-season (yes a bit of leniency given the passing of his father), but didn't even need to work his way back into the team with solid football performances at SANFL level.

We're a club who over the past two years have horrible efficiency going inside 50 and it seemed whilst Eddy was in, the structure was vastly improved, and was looking like either Eddy or Dixon was going to have a good game due to the others presence. We looked good with Schulzy in 2014, and Eddy was a darn good replacement if you ask me, but just needed time to get used to the game at AFL level where a home game on Adelaide Oval against Freo was a bloody good game for him to do that, so he could come out absolutely firing against what is likely to be one of the hardest games of the year the week following.

Then there's the Westhoff should have been dropped for Impey argument.

Can't argue with this. But Ken has a contract to lock away doesn't he.

Utterly ridiculous he isn't playing.

Does some brilliant things.....occasionally.
His disposal is somewhat wayward at times as well.
He needs to be involved far more in the game and work on his consistency.
I honestly don't see how he is 'best 22'.

That's what neade and impey are.

They've hit their cieling by this age. Don't get better, just playing their best standard more regularly and consistently.

Sammy has beefed up and there's no Q over his commitment. My view is he could do with a double dose of self confidence.
For all of ^ I see him as a cusp player between sanfl and AFL and although it's not his fault he's been given plenty of opportunities.

- Jarman - can't kick!, lacks poise, much shorter than Brett Eddy. Was this just to make him feel better. He needed to earn his way back via the seconds!
- Charlie can't catch
- Jackson not a natural forward
- Ken lacking balls again, being far too defensive minded. Or playing his favourites, again!

I wonder how the rest of the players feel about that. Guy gives up his job to live his dream, not used by other players and when he is the ball goes over his head! He's more than a decoy - he's smart and at least he can catch and kick.

Pxxxxx off by this refusal to get the forward entry and structure right. Drop the ball on the forward's head and play chaos ball, still. How about some easy entries and goals via a natural leader.

Almost as bad as Koshy and the scarf!

Way off there... 2016 all australian and rebounding running defender Dane rampe played on eddy, last year rampe averaged nearly 20 touches a game. Last week rampe had 9 disposals and provided nothing running off the half back line, all this despite playing in conditions that should have suited him.
I'll guarantee you rampe gets 20 plus tonight v the dogs.
