What has Impey or Krak done to demand a recall?

Unchanged.
Impey (Along with Monfries) was good vs Sturt. Krak hasn't played for 2 weeks, so he's no chance.

Houston has killed Krakouers role in defence. We tried to make Krak a forward but then he's up against Gray, Wingard, Young and Monfries.

He's in a spot of bother now.

Its hard to see Monfries back unfortunately. One of Gray and Wingard would spend time in the midfield I'd say so there's a spot for either Impey or Krakouer. Impey has the age on his side but Krak is the better kick so I wouldn't give up on him just yet.

Out: Premier Li (cant have him wearing a Swans scarfe)

In: Lady from the Markets who cooks my Dim Sims

I doubt we will make a change unless someone is injured, however if I were coaching I would make 1 change.

Really liked Sam Grays workrate, kept giving us an option as a link up when we were coming out of defence. Sadly his decision making and execution were below average. If Monfries is as fit as they say he is, I wouldn’t mind seeing him come in and play that same role, should be able to give us the same option but hopefully better decisions and execution. Also Freo look to be back to their sniping ways, Gus bigger body, and the fact he loves to dish it out might also be better suited to this game. But it all depends on whether Gus can give the same workrate as Sammy.

Ideally Amon could get more than 9 possessions but the fact he is one of the few who consistently hits a target means he has to stay in, we need him to get the ball and have more than 4 kicks a match tho. Don’t see the point in playing Eddy in just 1 match, he needs a month of consistent football at the highest level and then we can assess. Other than that, our poorest players were the ones with runs on the board (although Hoff wouldn’t want a second poor performance in a row).

No idea, worry about it when it happens, Houston is all composed, all class. Which has been lacking from that position the last 5 years.

Harsh, I was a critic of Pittard, but his disposal is quite good now.

It's amazing what a few new players do to these kind of threads.

SPP and Houston come in and now all of a sudden we're questioning the likes of Krak, Impey, SGray and Hartlett.

Depth does wonders for a list and will only make things better going forward

I’d replace S. Gray with Impey. Impey provides a point of difference both in the forward lines, and in short bursts in the midfield. Also, I know it’s fraught with danger to look a week ahead, but I see him as our best option to play as a defensive forward on Laird.

Impey in the best for the maggies last week?

PORTADELAIDEFC.COM.AU'S best
Ladhams, Snelling, Drew, Bonner, Reynolds, Ah Chee, Impey
So Ah Chee and Bonner are definite ins then ;)

I'm not against change but it's laughable that people on here are suggesting we drop S.Gray due to poor disposal and follow it up with suggesting Impey to replace him. Impey is not much better by foot.

Impey did nothing during JLT to make think we'd miss him in round one. He has to earn his spot. Could actually learn a thing or 2 about work rate from S Gray.

As i said I'm not against making changes but those changes need to be earned. Impey hasn't done that. Hopefully he does asap

This is true in a sense, but in the back half of last year our smaller backline started to show that poise and was far better than the tall backline we'd played previously.

On Dan he just doesn't test the opposition like Pittard does. He isn't as explosive or line breaking as Pittard. Dan is looking the goods as a solid defender, but Pittard is looking like a likely AA. I know who I'm picking first.

Im happy to go in unchanged but ideally would like Impey and Jasper to eventually replace SGray and Amon in a couple of rounds. I dont think Krak makes our 22 if Houston keeps developing and ideally would rather him play. Eddy should get a few more games to show what he can do, before we consider bringing in a smaller forward like monfries or palmer.
Westy is on notice for mine. Has been average most of preseason. Hoping its an aberration or he may find himself out of the team by round5 if he cant pick up.

Apart from that one howler resulting in a turnover, what was the knock on Sam Gray's game? Was very impressed with his pressure and attack on the ball all day. He seemed to be involved in the play quite often. As far as forward pressure goes, he's a mile ahead of Neade.

The only player I would consider this week is Krak.

We need for him round 3 against Betts and as we have no one else who can go with him. It would be good to give Krak a hit out at the top level before the Showdown.

Sam Gray would be the unlucky one to drop out in that scenario.

Impey can also play that role on Betts.

Not entirely true, he has improved but still had an clanger average of 1 for every 6.8 touches last year. 1 for every 6.6 touches in 2015, 1 for ever 7.25 touches in 14, 1 for every 5.88 in 13, 1 for every 5.68 touches in 11.
Last year in the showdown 7 clangers in 19 touches, 15 uncontested...after a 9 clanger match in the 40 point loss to Melbourne and a 8 clanger match in the hoax effort against Sydney last year.

Cant afford that in the role he plays down back for us if we are going to improve.

I think with that you need to remember he has been give a licence to take more risks than anyone else bar chad and Robbie. With that inherit risk/reward he will bugger it up and the stats will seem worse than it is.
