Some people are just happy with the status quo of players being okay. Westhoffs dropping is not just because of last weeks game. It is because of 10 years of being Westhoff, and not having the mental strength to deliver when it is required. He will be okay against Hawthorn, probably, kick a miraculous goal, but put him 25 out straight in front in a final and the whole world knows what will happen.

As for Young, will probably snag 2 over the top goals this week, and when it counts have an 11 touches and 0 tackle game again, meanwhile a guy who actually looked good last season late, and has played well in the 2s, Palmer, will need to look for pastures less paved with golden tickets.

Now we have 5 or 6 under performing players. We all know who these players are and we have players at the Magpies playing better footy and can't get a game. o_O

I know it's a short break for the Magpie boys but wow, these are professional athletes with one of the best fitness guys in the business.

Young, Westhoff, Amon, Impey, Hartlett. All under performing and you could almost make a case for S Gray, Jones, Ah Chee.
Meanwhile we have in form Monfries, Eddy, Toumpas, Howard, Houston. beats me.

We need to lose this game like we needed to lose to GWS in 2012.
No we don't, we need to win big AND make the neccesary changes. Losing this will kill our season regardless.

This season isn't recoverable anyway. We have blind men at the helm.

I dont hate Sam Gray by any stretch, but some of his ****ups at crucial times has cost us games. Don't think he's best 22.

I see Sam Gray a bit like I used to see Poulton in that he's almost always next in line if someone is injured. Given there are usually a few on the injury list he probably ends up playing more than he misses. But he isn't "best 22" and when we have a full list to choose from he should drop out. He is a very handy depth option in my view.

he is a good solid player, but he isn't better than some not playing.

I sort of understand what your saying. I would never want us to lose any game but if we win and we should it will justify our poor selections for another week. This continues till we hit a in form side and get rock and rolled. Then the poor performing players will have had enough brownie points to get selected again. Groundhog day ha ha ha.

Yep Westhoff was never in any danger at selection. He was good last week, he just didn't convert.

We need to fix that up, that's what the focus should be. Had he kicked all his shots he was probably close to BOG, following the GC game where I think I gave him 5 votes as BOG.

This issue is that he didn't want to take the shot. A 30 year old senior player passed it back 25-30 metres because he couldn't handle the pressure. Give the opportunity to someone who wants it.

Everyone is prone to **** ups. The issue with him is that he's just this little guy who doesn't do anything particularly well but doesn't do anything particularly terribly either, running around all over the place, but mainly up forward, and not really providing anything we need. It's obvious he's been pushed out of the midfield, so why play him forward when there's better available options? Either pick Monfries, or play Howard as a tall foil for Dixon. Even Marshall.

I'm not surprised in the slightest we're going in unchanged. Ken must have been handed the Choco gold pass handbook to peruse in his spare time

I guess that Ken has one very redeeming aspect to his life: he is very loyal to the team he coaches. Yes, there are underperforming players in our current 22, and yes, there seems to be better performing and deserving players running around in the 2's and yes we only just got beaten by the Cats at there dung heap.
If we win I guess the only change over the next few weeks will be the dropping of one player to make way for Chad. If we lose BigFooty will go off the air!!
That being said, I felt that we should have at least made 2 changes. Who? I just don't know!!
Anyway GO THE POWER!

Aaron Young gets another go after a season of underperforming and 11 touches and 0 tackles (yes 0) last week to boot.

At what stage does Gus give him a sneaky knee to the hammy at training? I can't believe he's still not playing.

5 day break. There was never going to be a change unless forced.

Can't believe it after 4 years of the same coaching? Come on mate.

Trengove had a bad game. But I think he's been quite useful up forward over the year.
He's had patches of value, no doubt, however he's not a reliable kick for goal and is a better KPD by a fair margin. I certainly wouldn't pick him for a kick after the siren to win the game.
