Out Morton In Fevola

...

On a serious note though:

Out:
Morton...tell him to go back for a month sort himself out and come back fresh
Strauss...50/50...tough decision as I prefer him to Bartram but he is not having enough impact but I feel if he was to be omitted it would really stunt his development

In:
Davey...i know pre injury he was staring down the barrel but he is too good not to be in the team...he will be freshened up and ready to go with a new lease of life

One of dunn/bartram/jetta...depends on how we want to match up...

Thoughts? :thumbsu:

In: Davey, Bartram
Out: Morton, Strauss

I also want to squeeze Macdonald in, but Tapscott has his spot currently and I like Nicholson's dash.

In: Davey/Macdonald

Out: Morton

Would love to see Macdonald come back into the side, he was playing brilliant footy. Davey needs a run at Casey to get some match fitness back IMO. Macdonald back also allows for Tapscott to move to the midfield (fapfapfap)

Strauss has been excellent defensively all year actually, those saying otherwise are uninformed.

The game against Port was the only time where his opponent got the better of him, and as it was his first game in those trying conditions... it is understandable.

A bit of interesting info, apparently a gastro bug went through some of the team the week before the game. Watts in particular was the rumor.

Makes the win look even better if true.

Agree completely with BC here. Ive loved JMac's year but hard to put him in ahead of Tappy and Nicho.

Bartram has to come back in if Rioli is back for the Hawks. Rioli murdered us early in the match in round 2. Bartram did a very commendable job on him once he was assigned to him in the second half.

While Davey has been utter shit this year he has to come back, i would like to see him used up forward from now on though. Keep his squibbish behaviour away from the backline.

In: Davey, Macdonald, Evans (injury pending)
Out: Morton, Strauss, Scully (injury pending)

If Macdonald isn't fit then bring in Bartram.

Comedy gold right there! Woeful footballer, I'd rather have Newton in the team.

In: MacDonald

Out: Strauss

No change if MacDonald doesn't get up, Davey needs a week in the VFL.

Hm, you must be uninformed.

Apart from the Darwin game his has not been 'beaten' by his defensive assignment.

Need some harder bodies in the side this week plus maybe a few changes after a energy sapping game up in Darwin

Ins:MacDonald Dunn & Evans

Outs:Scully (if injured) Morton & Strauss

Sub this week Gysberts

I'm not sure what Strauss' defensive effort was like. Maybe he wasn't tight enough, but maybe that was Nicholson or Taspcott. I'm happy to keep Strauss in though. Let's give Strauss, Tapscott and Nicholson some freedom to rotate through a wing.

OUT: Morton
IN: Macdonald

OUT: "Spud" Morton Strauss

IN : Davey Dunne

I reckon the "Spud" Morton has been nominated to get dropped for the past month, yet he has survived.

I reckon this spud's luck has finally run out. FFS drop him!

If he doesn't get dropped after his shocker against Port....he must have some pretty good incriminating photos of someone on the selection commitee.

IN: Macdonald.
OUT: Morton.

Morton's been playing what looks like a defensive role... and hes playing rubbish so bring someone in who has played good footy this year.

I'm uncertain about bartram... i would prefer that he had a week in the ressies but if rioli were to go forward who would take him? Frawley and nicho could be almost par pace wise but a nicholson/rioli match-up is not good for us.

Tough one this week. We got smashed against the Hawks las time because we couldn't hit targets through the zone. So it's essential we have players who can hit targets in the back half(Tappscott, Strauss, Davey, Frawley, Garland). Normally, I wouldn't hesitate to bring in Bartram to play on Cyril. But unfortunately, Bartram can't kick. So he remains at Casey for mine. Frawley should probably go to Cyril if he plays forward, unless Buddy is getting a hold of Garland.

Don't understand people wanting Strauss dropped. Has hardly been beaten since coming into the team. The only thing he needs to work on is finding the football more and using that deadly kick of his as a weapon. Like Suckling has been used at Hawthorn. I suspect Bailey wants Strauss to concentrate on his defensive game atm, and as he starts to cement his spot, then unleash the atatcking part of his game, which he does have! He is a must keep this week as we need players from defense to hit targets past Hawks zone.

IN

Davey(Assuming he is fit and raring to go)
Evans(Only if Scully doesn't play)

OUT

Morton(no need for explanation)
Scully(I think we will be cautious with his knee)

IN: Macdonald
OUT: Morton

B: Nicholson; Frawley; Garland
HB: Macdonald; Rivers; Strauss
C: Scully; McKenzie; Tapscott
HF: Sylvia; Watts; Green
F: Maric; Jamar; Petterd
R: Martin; Moloney; Trengove
I/C: Jones; Jurrah; Howe; [Gysberts]

What's the go with Bail? I want him back!

MELBOURNE

INJURED:
Rohan Bail (knee) 2-3 weeks
Aaron Davey (knee) 1-2 weeks
Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) 1-2 weeks
Jack Grimes (foot) season
Neville Jetta (hand) 1 week
Michael Newton (foot) 3 weeks
Jake Spencer (knee) season
Tom Scully (knee) test

Herald Sun saying here Davey is still a little bit away, but IIRC Fitzpatrick played on the weekend so might be unreliable

Changes are tough this week. I can't understand the Strauss hate either, he's been good and will start to find more of the ball with confidence and experience. Until then, he's been good defensively - which is why people didn't want him in the team to start with. Funny how it goes.

In: Davey, Macdonald
Out: Scully (possible inj) or Gysberts, Morton.

Potential for Joel Mac to play a defensive role on Hodge?

In: MacDonald, Evans
Out: Morton, (Gysberts or Scully)

Dunno why Howe was played as a sub, but it didn't work. Gysberts has looked tired for a few weeks now, either sub or rest him with "general soreness" if Scully gets up. Regardless, Evans in for another run with the seniors for mine. Let Davey play himself into some form at Casey, thank you very much, we've rushed too many back too quickly this season.
