People forget the Brown experiment up forward a few years back. He just doesnt have it up there.
Actually early in his career was very good in the forward line. Can remember Carey giving him bouquets, but think after that was tried in defence before doing his first knee. With all his injuries over his career has unfortunately affected his form and potential. Both he and his twin brother are very injury prone so must be genetics.

Why do you love the idea of playing out of form players for in-form players ? Regardless of whether it was " just Essendon" or 'just one game' .

And I would be very very surprised if Sheed doesn't get at least two . Maybe three weeks in the WAFL

My sense is we need to get our best 22 out playing as a collective unit ...everyone knowing their role

But I know over a five or six game stretch ginners isn't going to play that well and will he be in the side when the whips are cracking as they say

Agree sheed will take maybe another week ....it depends on his natural fitness base also ..Some guys can do it

Nelson is an interesting one and I'm sure he will play next week ......but early this season when he played everyone was saying he was the butcher from bakersville just hacking kicks when any pressure came near him

He tagged well and fed of his apponemt well v bombers. I'm not convinced he will play like against better opposition. He will in the future. I just don't believe now. But hey if he does I'm super rapt to be wrong.

What we have seen with east Perth is players struggle to play well in that team ...and often players better when they are actually elevated

I'm not getting carried away with nelsons one good game against average oppo. I'd rather get Duggan back into the team but happy of Nelson plays.

In Simpsons last press conference he mentioned Giles was better as a No1 ruckman and not a backup. So me it will down to Brown/Mcinnes as that extra forward target/ruck or we add an extra mid and have Lycett ruck with Gov helping out. If we go with option 1 Brown i feel competes better around the ground better than Mcinnes. If it rains on the weekend i say we should add Redden/Duggan depending who has the better game.

Fraser McInnes ...no

His overall skill set is not up to AFL STANDARD ......I. HAPPY WITH Lycett ..brown and gov backing up

Then third man up at some boundary throw ins by Elliot Yeo and anyone over 6 foot 2

That's enough

I am a Duggan fan but I would like to see him to back to EP and earn a recall. He is coming back from a serious knee injury and like McEnzie, he has been a little off AFL standard. Time for him to get some momentum and fluency back into his game. I want to see some non negotiable accountability at the club.

From the WAFL today you would think Redden will come back in getting 28 disposals and 3 goals. Duggan would be a good chance too. Hill should back in. The question is who comes out for these guys realistically?

Hill was at the East Perth game today showing no real ill effects of his bout of tonsillitis

Duggan and redden showed they are ready to come back in. As did Ellis

Sheed was very solid in his first game back at EP but I think he needs another WAFL game to build match fitness. Bringing him back against north would be a mistake

Some hard decisions at match committee this week because I have no idea who comes out

McInnes was injured and giles didn't do enough to displace brown

Mckenzie didn't do enough to shift Schofield or barass

I think you are remembering his first few games.... Yes he performed well in those but that was a long, long time ago in a very good team. He then went to the back line. As the poster that you responded to stated, he was trialed in the forward line again. I believe he went in the media stating he "wanted to Kennedy and himself to become two pillars in the competition" - that ended in tears of course. He just isn't an AFL quality forward. Hopefully Simpson realises this sooner, rather than later.

Brown is a trade target. He is not a required player. The emergence of Barrass has all but stamped Brown's de-list papers.

With hindsight possibly should have traded him to St Kilda when the offer was made, prior to him doing his second knee?

They couldn't trade him - WCE were going for a premiership and had McKenzie gone down with a knee, Brown would have been required and it would have de-railed the whole season. They made the right choice. The emergence of Barrass is just a huge positive.

Out: Cripps, Brown, Jetta
In: Hill, McKenzie, Redden

McGinnity can play Cripps role as the manic, tackling, goal sneak forward, and also has the versatility of being chucked in the midfield. Cripps has been too inconsistent.

McKenzie comes back in to help combat Norths tall forward line. Brown just didn't impress me.

Redden comes in for his impressive WAFL game. Jetta just hasn't done enough.

Mate - did you even go to the game? Do yourself a favour and retract your post. I have taken down your name and let it be known on the board that you know sweet flock all about football. And don't bother coming back and saying it was a joke. You are the joke.

I could go on but your head is so far up your freckle that I could not be bothered.
Keyboard Bullying at its finest . Funny , not

I wouldn't be disappointed with this. Although Lecras for Cripps could just as easily happen

Was the trade not on the table well before Mackenzie did his knee ? Considering it was done in a pre season game the trade period was well over and done with. So Mackenzies knee injury had nothing to do with keeping Brown.

Players in the mix for selection

Xavier Ellis , Redden , Duggan pushing for a recall . Hill possibility to come back in .

Jetta , McGinnity , Nelson will be the ones that may be dropped tho McGinnity and Nelson dont deserve to be dropped .

Brown likely to stay in the side with the Talls North have in their attack . EMac would be an emergency based on this . Giles may be considered to help ruck but with the run Eagles had in the last 1/4 against Essondon probably not

This time of year illness playing a part

If they're keen to play Nelson as a tagger he can chop out with Hutch if it gets too hard. Frees Hutch up to (hopefully) be a bull and maybe snag some goals like he tends to. One of those weeks where I think I'll be happy for any changes that are made, there's a lot of ways to go with more fit players than normal.

NM have big mids, they might want Redden in to tackle/block and add some grunt, which is hat he's meant to be doing.

You've misunderstood what i've posted. I agree with what you have written - I didn't say McKenzie going down with a knee had anything to do with a trade. WCE needed back-up and had to keep Brown in the case of any defender going down. McKenzie going down just highlights and reinforces how important it was to keep Brown in that period.

I don't know that it reinforces it at all. We had our best season in years without either player. No body could have guessed Gov would be as good as he is tho.
