Changes vs St Kilda

Pretty tough week at the selection table actually....good signs. I think Jamar has to play, but don't know whether anyone at Casey really dominated and forced their way into the team.

Maybe:

May I ask why you've dropped our best forward who had 1 bad game in which he still managed 2 goals and Bruce who played well on the weekend.

You've given us a ruckman and a backman and got rid of a midfielder and a forward, why?

Its because he has no idea at all Dez,

IN: Jamar, Cheney, Bell

OUT: Petterd, Bennel, Jones

Robertson for obvious reasons.

Bruce because he is long overdue for a run at Casey. Terrible user of the footy.

And I have us a ruckman, yes, but Stef Martin can now move to the forward line to replace Robbo.

And I have us a ruckman, yes, but Stef Martin can now move to the forward line to replace Robbo.

What obvious reasons? He had ONE I repeat ONE bad game and in that bad game he still managed 2.2. Anybody who wants him dropped is off their rocker.

Bruce is not a terrible user of the footy, yes at times he really butchers his kicks but by hand he is very reliable. Played pretty well on the weekend and didn't butcher anything that I saw. However if we are dropping players because according to you they are "terrible users of the footy" we wouldn't have a side.

So far you've given no reasons to support why Bruce and Robertson should be dropped.

Bruce's disposal effiecency before the game on the weekend was at 78% and he is one of our best senior midfielders and has leadership which we don't want to lose with a young side. And Robbo may not have done something brilliant but I only saw him make one mistake. And he is probably our best fwd if miller keeps dishing the ball off.

I wouldn't be dropping Bruce, as wasteful as he can be, he's a cool head and pretty vital in terms of his utility.

As for Robbo, 2 goals he may have had kicked, but Newton was dropped after that Adelaide game for missed opportunities (0.3 behinds, one week after kicking 2.4 after Richmond); most of us didn't bat an eyelid with Newton despite the big fella averaging 5 shots on goal a week.

Robbo is going at about 4 shots on goal a game, with similar stats re. disposals and marks. Notably with Robbo though, his forward pressure IMO isn't up to the standard I would hope for, 1.5 a game. Newton, for all his deficiencies, had 8 over his two games.

Now I don't necessarily think Newton deserves his spot back, but Robbo is by no means the only option we have and his spot shouldn't be safe.

His chest marking still shits me, he is so good with his hands but continually attempts to mark it on his chest, inviting good players like Morris and Brown to spoil it away. Come on Robbo, get the mits out.

While I'm here...

In: Jamar
Out: Petterd

Valenti also a chance to return for Jones IMO, I wouldn't agree with the move, but I can see it happening.

And this week it was 21 disposals with an efficiency rate of 90%.

Out: Possibly Jamie Bennell
In: Kyle Cheney (he was so unluck to be dropped after a quite brilliant game t be honest)

stop posting with your supercoach hat on... Cheney racks up a lot of the footy, and hence supercoach points, but has very little accountability for his man...

Bennell on the other hand doesn't get as much footy, but he generally uses it better, and he does a good job of stopping his opponent too... so no, Bennell won't be dropped for Cheney...

I never stated that Robbo can't be dropped or anything like that, my point was that Grandmaster B stated that Robbo should be dropped for obvious reasons. He's basing his argument that Robbo should be dropped because of one extremely stupid act not because of the game he played which in hindsight wasn't actually terrible by any stretch of the imagination. I agree with the chest marking and he has shown that he can take a grab overhead on the lead, there was actually one great mark that he took overhead on the lead on the weekend. I don't understand why he doesn't get the dukes out more often because he's capable of taking them, I guess it just comes down to he's more comfortable taking them on the chest.

I also agree your points regarding Newton and I reckon he can get back into the team but it is just the kicking that is letting him down. How come we don't get Neita down at the club helping out? Surely it'd be worth a try wouldn't it?

Yup, and the otherwise talented Danny Hughes appears to have a wayward radar also.

Daniel Hughes – 'Hughesy' was up-and-down a bit. He's a power player and he took some strong marks, but missed a few shots at goal and finished with 2.4.

Daniel Hughes – 'Hughesy' was really good early, but he kicked 1.3 in the first quarter.
Probably the reason he hasn't already been given a go this year, because otherwise he's getting promising reviews.

I would very, very much like to have Bartram in the team, but see no place for him.

B: Matthew Whelan - Matthew Warnock - Jared Rivers
HB: Jack Grimes - James Frawley - Aaron Davey
C: Cale Morton - Colin Sylvia - Cameron Bruce
HF: Brock McLean - Brad Miller - Matthew Bate
F: Brad Green - Stefan Martin - Russell Robertson
R: Paul Johnson - Brent Moloney - James McDonald
I/C: Mark Jamar - Nathan Jones - Addam Maric - Jamie Bennell

E: C Bartram - L Dunn - R Petterd

I've got to bring Jamar in so the big question is do we perservere with Martin as a forward, send him back to the backline or drop him due to no fault of his own. I'm favouring the first option.

IN: Jamar OUT: Petterd --- Jamar goes to the ruck, Martin to Petterd's spot up forward

I wanted to bring Bell in to tag Goddard, but I can't. That said Miller will be heavily on notice. I also hope Whelan (broken nose?) and Bate (corky?) are ready to go. If they're not then put Bell in. If Wheels is out it leaves a pretty tough job for Bruce, Bennell, Grimes and Morton (who would move to defence) as the small defenders.

FF: Martin Robbo Maric
HF: Davey Miller Sylvia
C: Green McLean Morton
HB: Bruce Warnock Grimes
FB: Whelan Rivers Frawley
FOLL: PJ Moloney McDonald
Int: Jamar Bennell Jones Bate

Thinking about the key matchups, maybe we need a Bartram or Dunn to go with Dal Santo/Montagna etc?

Reiwoldt = Frawley (is he big enough though? Would we consider letting Roo go up the wings basically unopposed but manning him up when he gets near the 50?)

Kosi = Warnock. Happy with that match-up.

Dal Santo = ??? Maybe Junior?

Goddard = No idea. He could tear us to shreds.

Montagna = Bartram if he comes in, if not then ???

Whelan - Milne.

Wouldn't mind seeing Bennell being given a negative tagging HF role on a Goddard or a Gilbert. Stop their run whilst chipping in with a couple of goals.
