Lever will play you'd expect.
I’m not sure if they will bring Lever in just yet.

He did zero main training on Friday and was on limited minutes in the VFL.

Given the team won against Brisbane and Sydney’s scoring threats are a bunch of medium forwards I would expect Lever to have another run with Casey. No rush.

Yeah i think they said they really wanted to have a run of VFL games first as part of his plan, along with what Lampers said

But honestly despite all that said, i could see our selection committee rushing things (But at least probably for this week he won't be in the team)

Rivers May Bowey

Lindsay McDonald McVee

Langdon Viney Langford

Fritsch Johnson Pickett

Chandler Petty Melksham

Gawn Petracca Oliver

Salem Lever Sparrow Windsor Sharp

Bring in Kbrown.
Let him tackle tackle tackle all day long

You need to tackle relentlessly, Kynan. Again, and again, and again.

For six minutes.

Disco has been in good form down back as the interceptor, I'd definitely give Lever another week or two
We've insisted on giving half of our list a crack at playing KPF this year, why not give Lever a go lol. Can take a grab at least

This goal kicking issue is really reaching crisis mode now. kozzie, petracca, sharp, Fritsch, Gawn, Spargo, AJ, Petty all missing pretty elementary shots the last couple of weeks.

It costs us almost every week now. Certainly against the hawks we lost the game due to it.

And a slight pet peeve, last night when Petracca was lining up for goal, he should've chipped that backwards or sideways. There was a 10% chance he was going to kick that goal and a 90% chance of giving the ball back to Brisbane with 1 minute left. Take your 30 seconds, and then find an easy target or even just stand there until the umpire calls play on and the Brisbane players run at you. The clock is our friend. Just have some darn footy game sense. So frustrating. As professional athletes they should know this. I don't think any dees fan expected him to kick the goal except for Petracca himself so he should've been smarter in that scenario.

The lack of footy sense cost us the game against GWS too.

Anyway, changes :) I'm not bringing in Lever unless there's an injury.

In: Kynan Brown
Out: Sharp.

I don't really mind Sharp. For a team that lacks speed, it's nice to know we have a proper athlete in the team. And I thought Spargo has been having a crack defensively. but it'd be nice if he hit the scoreboard every now and then.

We used to teach juniors the following and it works. (hope this is the right place to post this)
Who is responsible for training set shots at Melbourne?
If our players did nothing more, other than the first instruction, it would be a massive improvement.

Set shots

1. Align your body with the goals. This is what most players get wrong. The ball usually goes where you are pointing. Point your body straight at the goals.
2. Hold the ball straight, straight over the foot you are kicking with.
3. Now, eyes only on the ball as you drop the ball straight and swing your leg straight st the target.
4. Watch the ball onto your foot. Your fine motor muscles will instinctively keep things straight.
5. Practice this kicking ball 2 metres when that's good practice at 5 then 10 then 30 then 40 then 50 metres.
6. The above are all practiced off 1 step. Now practice with a slow jog straight towards the target.

Finally when practicing make sure you can repeatedly kick the ball straight at short distances before practicing longer distances.

"Petracca shouldn't have taken that set shot in the last as he is such a poor kick. Instead he should have kicked backwards towards Brisbane's goal as there is no way that could have backfired."

At the end of the day , its the players having the shots on goal. , maybe they need to take responsibility themselves .

Really hope Lever has another run in the 2s to get match fitness. We so often rush blokes back and it doesn't go well.

If Viney is fit, he comes in for Sharp.

Kynan Brown in for Spargo.

Fritch stays sub.

Watch Viney come back in and **** everything up. Some day we will learn that we can only play one of him or Oliver.
Yeah I sort of mentioned it in Oliver thread that would be interesting to see how it goes this week with Viney taking the tagging role. This is my fear Viney was a write off imo until he did the tagging role. Oliver is better being defensive but with Viney coming in my fear is we'll see unaccountable lazy Oliver again.

lol come on mate. Petracca may not be a good kick but I'm confident he can hit a 20m pass. Bartel just said exactly the same thing on Footy furnace.

Maybe. Or Brisbane have the option covered and turn it over. He should have just kicked the goal.
