WTF????????

Have you ever seen this guy play? He is a mile away from AFL standard.

Perhaps we could bring in Peter Daicos's sons. Bit young perhaps, but great surname!!!!!!

That'll work.

Yes l have seen him play, quite a few times as well. He is progressing rapidly, and is really impressing the coaching staff. He stands at 202cm, and has a real presence about him when he plays. Something that we are not getting from many of the current big men. I would be more than happy to see him given a go at senoir level. How would you know what he would be like at senior level if he's never given a chance.

Davis is an out for me, just isn't doing enough and Medhurst is a better small forward and Dick has to play again on todays game

As long as the outs include Fraser and Caff, I'll be content.

Really thought that the Caff could play but today he lost me.

I don't really know about the in's & out's for Sydney but the "brains trust" have serious problems they need to address urgently. It was left up to a bloke playing his first game of the season to kick 4 of our 9 goals and between Beams, Cloke, Medhurst and Davis the return was just 2 goals!!.
We missed Didak badly today and Ball at the stoppages and I believe Dawes at least gives you a contest and a bit of spunk. Can someone please tell me who was accountable for Moloney today. He almost murdered us on his own. As far as I am concerned Davis, Fraser & L Brown are all on borrowed time and please don't get me started on Wood (The dumbest footballer to ever play the game) and O'Bree (Well words just fail me on him).

Calls for Tooves out are lunacy he was good today and would have been in our best 10.

Out: Fraser, Barham, Medhurst, Maxwell (inj)

In: Dawes, Johnson, Ball, Goldsack

That would be it for mine. Obviously if Maxy is fit he plays. Tempted to find another out to give Antony a run but for now that is it.

Where's your Didak?

In: Didak, Ball, Johnson, Anthony, Goldsack
Out: Fraser, Barham, Maxwell (inj), Macaffer, Medhurst

Medhurst needs to find form badly, Dick overtook him with that performance. Also I want to see Jack ahead of Dawes. From all reports Jack played well in the two's and took 6 contested marks. On todays performance, that is exactly what we need, a player to help Trav and take a contested grab.

Goldy for Maxwell is self explanatory and L.Brown should move into the second ruck role.

OUT: Fraser, Barham, Medhurst, Wellingham, Maxwell*
IN: Dawes, Johnson, Ball, Didak, Goldsack*

L Brown -> 2nd ruck (ie. Fraser's position)
Dawes -> CHF (ie. Brown's position)
Ball -> midfield. (ie. Wellingham's position)
Didak -> HFF (ie. Meds' position)
Johnson -> HBF (ie. Barham's position)

*if required due to injury.

In: Didak, Johnson*/Goldsack, Dawes, Wood

Out: Maxwell (cert), Barham (bye bye), MaCaffer (won't happen, but I can hope), Fraser (won't happen but I can hope).

Didak, Goldy and Dawes have to play, Medhurst and Fraser are "concerns" in regards to fitness, although Meds looked better then Josh late in the game.

My "mail" is Maxwell is out with a strained calf (although scans tomorrow will confirm the severity), 2-3 weeks, so that's only 1-2 matches with break, which isn't so bad.

Ball might be rested also, on another "suspect" surface at the Olympic Stadium.

If BJ is fit, Goldy missed out again IMO, but he is close to selection.

I'm in no hurry to rush Ben Johnson back.

I didn't see the game today, but it sounds like Heath Shaw was nullified again, think this needs to be rectified. We shouldn't be content with him being dragged out of the play, we lose too much drive.
Bring in Rounds and get him playing in a back pocket, push Heater up into the high back flank/wing spot that is vacated by BJ.
I realise Roundsy has been playing forward lately, but he played the majority of his first year and a lot of his juniors on the back flank and in defensive midfield roles. Good little tackler and he is pretty tenacious, solid disposal as well which is the main reason you'd be happy with him down there as opposed to, say, Barham.
Goldy will come in though, needs to grab the chance.

Fraser back to the twos, play Leigh Brown as a backup ruckman, he'd have no problems against the Maple Leaf. Bring in Dawes or Jack instead.

Didak for Barham.

Not willing to stuff Rounds' development around by bringing him into AFL level playing a position he hasn't played in probably 10 months. Potential for shattering his confidence = high.

If he comes in, it should be to play Medhurst's role or allow Davis to play midfield.

OUT: Fraser, Macaffer, Barham, Maxwell(inj)

IN: Dawes, Didak, Ball (if available), Johnson.

If Ball isn't ready it'd be a good chance to give OB a game so he can get to 300 then there is no obligation to play him again.

He'd be right, he is a big boy after all.

Like I said, the move forward this year (2nd half of last yr) was more of a move away from his norm than playing down back in the AFL would be. With Dick back up and about, we have more than enough smalls rotating through the forward line (esp. with Sidey + Beams), gotta take your opportunities however you can get 'em.

I reckon there is a spot for a small/mid defender down back, gotta grab your chance when it arises, regardless of whether it truly suits you or not.
JA and Macaffer are both prime examples.

Dawes for Fraser
Buckley for Macaffer
Johnson (if fit) for Barham
Didak (if fit) for Medhurst
Goldsack for Maxwell (if injured)

Ball to take an extra week off; L.Brown to support Jolly in ruck.

Bring Jack Anthony back and put him in the forward square simple

if we do that then it wont be another 22 behinds game

The only reason it was 22 behinds is because off where we are kicking them from. If we had a Daicos in the team it would be ok.

In: Didak, Ball, Goldsack, Dawes

Out: Fraser, Barham, Maxwell, Medhurst

Didak & Ball if fit only, obviously question marks there especially Ball. If neither fit then Johnson & O'Bree come into the picture. Against a side like Sydney Ball & O'Bree are good players to have.

Goldsack for Max is a no brainer.

Dawes must come in, should never have been out. He gives the forward line some structure and is actually a forward! I understood the idea of playing tall against Melb but why play L Brown & Fraser/Jolly forward instead of a specialist forward!!???! He needs to play every game from now on, we are not going to win finals with L Brown as our second tall forward option.

Barham does not seem up to the standard. I was hoping he could show he could tag, but didn't make an impression.

Fraser is on the brink we all know that. His main weapon was his big tank & ability to move around the ground. He has lost that. Let him go back to the 2s & until he is 100% fit he is of now use. Going forward we can use L Brown to help Jolly in the ruck as well as Dawes/Cloke when its forward. This cannot be a long term arrangement. The reality is we need a second ruckman to step up & it for our future it needs to be Wood. like Dawes we need him in our team come September.

Medhurst must go he has to also regain fitness & confidence. He jsut isn't a threat & would prefer Macaffer to Medhurst up forward at the moment. Medhurst has also dropped his defensive side which is unforgiveable & is why Leon is so valueable even though he isn't kicking goals. Medhurst is still an x-factor that I hope is available to call on come September, but at the moment he is being carried & we can't have passengers.

I think our injury list might be a tad overplayed. Thinking Ball and Dids would have been ok if it were a final. Maxy looks set to miss.

In ;
Dawes - Fraser is giving us nothing. We need to move to a system such as Geelongs (Hawkins), Swans (White), Lions (Clark), Freo (johnson) etc where they have a dedicated ruck but the backup is someone who can play different positions. Dawes has shown he can compete well in the ruck and also it gets him into the game.

Didak
Goldsack
Ball - would be very surprised if he aint back.
Johnson - we need his ball carry.

Out;

Fraser. Been his biggest fan but he just aint trying and / or thinking. He had a great opportunity this year and just hasnt taken it.
Maxwell
Wellingham - needs a kick up the bumb bc he has stopped running backwards or spreading with the same vigour. Problem is he was ok vs bullies and if he had slotted his 2 goals then would have finished with 3 so maybe a hard call.
Barham
MacAffer - I think he needs a rest. Was ok on the weekend but just needs a break

Yeah, I'd go for that. Thought Wellingham has been extremely lairy and lazy. That attempt for goal inside the 50 with a couple of better options wasn't impressive.

Whats the latest on Ball's injury? I thought he was out for a couple more weeks but most of you have him in your in's?

Most of us assume that he was just rested after pulling up a little sore after playing on the Gabba and Etihad surfaces (worst 2 in the AFL) 2 weeks in a row.

Same for Ben Johnson basically too.

These are just assumptions based on what MM has said and what we as supporters have heard around the club.

He may be rested or have an actual recurrence of his groin injury, but it's doubtful.

He will most likely play on Saturday week.:thumbsu:

IN: Ball, Didak, Johnson, Dawes

OUT: Barham, L.Brown, Fraser, Maxwell(inj)

may as well let jolly ruck solo seeing wood and fraser are so useless

sydney dont have a very big forward line and there mid fielders kick most of there goals so no need to bring in another defender for maxwell imo

dawes, cloke, medhurst looked like much more of a potent foward line against carlton essendon and north melbourne before medhurst got injured so therefore drop leigh brown for dawes and have dawes leading from the goal sqaure
