If we lose this man.. I swear I'm gonna be like the ottoman and say.. 'I only listen to acdc the zep and occasionally mix it up with Sinatra and a bit of Hendrix.' Giving everyone the impression im a hot shot tough guy and that re.. But then PM someone 'as he did me' have a convo about playlists and shit like that.. and how he has Carly Jepson's 'Call me maybe' Wilson Phillips The Corrs and shit like that on it and that re.. and to please not tell anyone on BF about it.

I have f had it man.. that's it for me.

I was too. When we were missing our best two first possession midfielders it made sense to tag one of their best mids, add more pressure at the stoppages and give greater freedom for the other on ballers to free wheel.

Where did Sidebottom play against Geelong? He had little impact and was often getting his disposals in defence, but I cant recall his starting position. Was he tagged? I reckon until Adams and Sier are back we go more defensive with Greenwood and spread more talent to the wings. Instead of Mayne and Phillips we can have Phillips and Sidebottom/Beams/Treloar.
He did have a shocker. Alternated between wing and centre. Picked up Kelly (not successfully) sometimes.

Like to hear your thoughts on Appleby, given that he has been one of our best in the VFL praccys, do you think he has a role in the current set up? And if so what?

No one in defence is at real risk of losing their spot this week in my view, and there's no point in dropping someone like Callum Brown or Josh Thomas to bring him in.

Otherwise he's probably first choice if Maynard goes down.

Lambert is their third best mid, just think about that for a moment

I thought about it for a moment, allowed myself a sly smile when I thought about Collingwood's midfield...then started thinking about our midfield last Friday, then started to feel a bit off.

Kelly really hurt us on the wing. I reckon Crisp would have been a good match up as a big bodied run with. Unfortunately we aren't blessed with offensive half backs and probably don't have the flexibility to swing it. Perhaps we could have recognised Sidebottom was having a dirty night and shifted him and Crisp. That may have helped. Having said that if we'd just managed to nail or scoring opportunities we would have won anyway.

Our midfield was extremely soft on Friday and it still almost broke even with probably the third best midfield in the league

Depends on your definition of 'almost broke even'. We lost at stoppages, which is on stat we almost always come out on the right side of. We struggled to extract the ball from congestion without almost immediately turning it over, and our ball movement on the outside --to put it very kindly-- lacked fluency.

I know we've got a good midfield, and I know that it has a lot of upside...but I also know that the furnace will be even more intense on Thursday night. It'll be interesting.

Lost the stoppages by 5 and won the center clearances by 1. Lost contested ball by 8 and won uncontested ball by 8. I would say that’s almost breaking even. Beaten but not by much. They actually had more turnovers than us on the night.
Our biggest issue besides the comedy show up forward was getting the footy out of the backline and preventing repeat entries.

I do prefer your outlook on last week's game. I think I'll adopt it, because I'm at a juncture where I really need to approach things with a more positive mindset. 'No JB, the apocalypse is not upon us, not yet'. Done, feeling better already.

I think it can also be agreed that our mids need to improve considerably from last week, otherwise Lambert will be putting us to the slaughter.

OUT: Phillips, Aish, slow stop start play.
IN: Greenwood, Sier, attacking football.

We have a plethora of forwards that can play outside mid roles like Stevenson, De Goey and Thomas to cover the absence of Phillips and Aish, we're lacking grunt and extractors in the absence of Adams.

If we lose this.. I swear man.. I will play the Anzacday politics card and say my '2018 poster of the yr award' was all fictional re when I outvoted the runner up in an unprecedented 2:1 re.. I'm unfbelievable re. F therio re.

I have f had it re.. that's it for me.
