What do you mean by this.
You are who you are and none of us are ex Test Cricketers commentating on the game, we all have some talent at doing something and these blokes have actually been out there in the middle playing at the highest level and they will know better than any of us what is required to play Test Cricket. Some commentators are better than others, but i find none of them irritating enough to switch them off. Avoid focusing on the commentary; instead, keep the focus on yourself and what you are viewing. At home we can all be our own commentators, after all the Channel 9 commentary team have the same view as us, they are viewing through a TV monitor. We can be a little more explicit at home when Kevin Pietersen tonks one out to long on when the match needs to be saved?

I agree.

I don't mind the Ch 9 guys at all, and a lot of the criticism on here is way over the top, but I suppose I can understand how the nicknaming and the jokey-blokey stuff isn't everyone's cup of tea.

I much prefer the current, relaxed, muck-around style to the more formal, stiff style from the days of yore. I reckon it stepped up when Kerry dropped off, coz they all relaxed and started being a bit more real.

While I'm ranting (and still have some coffee in my cup :D)......

I dunno how the notion that the ABC commentary is ten times better gets accepted as a truism. Sure, the ABC might be better, but they've got their duds. I quite like O'Keefe and Agnew, and Henry most of the time, but Alderman bores the **** off me, and only says something interesting about twice a day. MacDonald put me to sleep when he was there (I hope he never comes back). Jim Maxwell might be very slick and knowledgeable, but he's an old fart who moans about everything, especially any innovation to the game. Drew is ok, but he's just a 'white bread' ball-by-ball guy who could be replaced without anyone noticing.

I've been enjoying the commentary on 3aw/6PR, but it's probably partly coz they're a fresh sound. They include: Chappelli, Damien Fleming, Blewett, Moody, Gladstone Small, Mick Arthurs, and the ball-by-ball guys are Tim Lane, Blofeld, Bruce Eva and Karl Langdon. Karl turns on the contrived excitement up a bit much, I reckon

Zing! :D

Ha ha. I reckon he puts that on, coz it's his way of trying to build excitement, but it just sounds like he's busting for a shit and is gunna bolt to the dunny as soon as the over's over. :D

I'm pretty sure they're going to 6PR, but does anyone know if they're going to the other states?

flicked to AW today to hear eva practically screaming down the mic.

dont listen to the radio so watching the telly.... warne and chappell are my favorites by a fair way and hope bill lawry can join them soon. healy and slater are my least preferred, clowns both of them dont know how they get a gig... the rest i can take or leave.

Slater and his obsession with any NSW especially warner and clarke is sickening. Healy cops a bad rap. His knowledge is second to none. Warne is overrated. He fawns over Clarke nonstop and his facial reconstruction is rivalling Bruce Jenner. Chappelli is grumpy but mostly spot on. Mark Taylor is just too bland to notice. Mike Hussey is inciteful and is not a cheerleader like some of the rest. Nicholas adds a good perspective . also preferred the Fairfax radio call to either nine and abc radio

brayshaw is a deadset fangirl. he is a clueless twit and how he has a job on tv is beyond ridiculous

Nah I love him. He is commentary is great and so is his hosting skills. Genuinely seems excited by sport which is great for a bloke whose main job is broadcasting sport.

Also wouldn't say a first class average of 44 is clueless?? Would say he is pretty well equipped for this gig.

Tomorrow's headline: 'Hussey incites riot'

My ratings so far for the 3 Tests

Bumble 8
Character, always good value.
Vaughn 8
Quality comments, sense of humour.
Moody 8
Reasonable commentator.
Warne 7
Decent enough when not acting like a kid.
Brayshaw 7
Grown on us, gets points for saying "yes I KNOW that" to Chappell, when he wouldn't shut up about something.
Nicholas 6
A bit of a sycophant, but at least acts like an adult, pass.
Tubby 6
Can be a bit of a noddy but ok, Pass.
Hussey 6
Jockey voice but going alright for someone starting out.
Chappell 4
Usually ok or can put up with him but he's dribbling a lot this series.
Slats 3
Try to like the guy but he's such a dork with cringeworthy attempts at humour. Has a disturbing love affair with all things 'Davey' Warner. Jon Bon Jovi fan ffs.
Healy 0
The bloke is an absolute f**kwit.

QUESTION: Name the only word in the English Language that contains a silent 'L'??
ANSWER: According to Shane Warne it's AustraLia.

Warne maybe a legend of the game, but his inability to pronounce his country's name correctly is truly embarrassing. Surely he must feel a little humiliated every time he opens his mouth, and surely the big wigs at Channel 9 must feel equally humiliated. It is so frustrating listening to morons totally ****-up the language and doing it on National Television for everyone to hear.

Of course he isn't the only commentator to do it, Andrew Johns is unable to complete the simplest sentences without ****ing-up at least one word.

They should stop sporting personalities from becoming commentators unless they have gone through the same tests news readers are required to go through.

Some people can't pronounce a lot of words. The prime minister had an issue with the Sh sound. It's a hard country to pronounce properly, I can't think of much harder.

Just re: this, when he is commentating on MMM NRL, he is far better, easily more relaxed, and very amusing to listen to during the pre game stuff.

I don't actually understand who Healy is appealing to. Who is sitting at home going 'shit I could listen to Ian Healy all day'.

Healy appeals to people like myself who never kept wicket in my life and know very little about the esoterics of the craft. I'm a little different to some on this forum as I like listening to all of them because every now and then they will tell me something to think about.

These guys are paid to pass comments, and sometimes they will be repetitive or maybe say something a little silly, but their knowledge of cricket is what puts them behind the microphone, and they are worth listening to. If people just want to criticize, it's their prerogative.
