I think you might have something there....The problem is our current generation of commentators grew up listening to Billy Birmingham, and now they're trying to live up to the caricatures instead of the real thing.
Mark Nicholas is horrible, from his put on posh voice
Yeah, I reckon he puts it on to distinguish himself from the Australian commentators.
Maybe it's less noticeable and I'm exaggerating because I find him such a tool.
Do you think that could be because everybody in england has a pommy accentMaybe it's less noticeable and I'm exaggerating because I find him such a tool.
Yeah potentially.Do you think that could be because everybody in england has a pommy accent
Yeah potentially.
I get that he's the host, but there's something smug about him I think. He professional but not especially likeable. I don't think anyone on the commentary team at the moment could do a better job, but I'm sure someone out there could.

I reckon Brendon Julian does a pretty good job with the cricket on Fox Sports and have always wondered why Nine haven't offered him the big bucks (or maybe they have?) to make the switch?
Having said that, I don't really mind Mark Nicholas, but maybe it's just that the others around him are so bad.
