Chapman gone

Says the nervous Hawthorn supporter.

Seriously, there was nothing in that. Very mild bump. Bloke got up and took his kick, no injury resulted. Would hate to see a player go for that.

Yes, but how is it different to Buddy's other than Chapman leaving the ground? Malceski wasn't injured either. After seeing the side-by-side shot confirming head high contact, looks like a certain suspension.

Nothing in it really- last nights and last weeks umpires should be suspended from umpiring geelong games- again verged on borderline cheating.
Again we see the AwFuL manipulating the result to get their de$ired match up.
Geleong and HAwks play under different rules than the rest of us.

Getting the excuses in early I see. Geelong didn't win last night because of the umpiring, they were just the better team. Bad decisions went both ways. I suppose the Hawks only won week 1 because the bad umpiring resulted in a 9 goal difference

Refer last week's MRP decisions. Different standards in finals.

Really a free kick is all it was worth. However the recidivist simulator in Gray throwing his head back made it look worse so the MRP will look at it.

Low impact and a bit negligent... early plea... no weeks... all good.

Chappy licking his lips to inflict some more pain on the Hawks this Friday night. :thumbsu:

Lol at this. Look at the still from a couple of pages back, clearly high contact and Gray got up straight away. If anything Gray's response will weigh in Chapman's favour

Umm ... pretty sure Malceski left the field mate. Gray just got up and went on with it. Chapman's really looked like the softest of bumps you could put on a bloke, whereas Buddy short stepped before leaping in. Personally I wouldn't want to see either of them go, but the post I was replying reckoned Chapman should go for 3 games, which as I said, is just a nervous Hawks supporter talking shit.

For the 4th time, you realise it was a piss take of the Franklin gone thread?

So it appears he has 0 carryover points, just expired. That could well save him.

Pics have shown some contact to the head, albeit slight, so it'll most likely be classed as 'high' contact.

Negligent or reckless? How the MRP view his leaving the ground could be crucial as, unlike Franklin, Chapman appears to do so while in the act of the bump. So going on that, reckless.

Level of impact? Gray got up almost straight away, so one would imagine 'low' impact. Kelly on Goddard looked to the naked eye to be of similar force, so low for me.

So to summarise: High Contact + Reckless + Low Impact = 5 activation points = 225 demerit points (2 games)

Early plea would reduce by 25% (56.25 points) to 168.75 points (1 game). Considering challenging it could mean missing a Grand Final, not to mention the club potentially being a bit gun-shy after the Kelly suspension earlier in the season, I'd think that this will be the most likely scenario.

That said, this is the MRP we are talking about, so who knows??

Succinct summation. I would venture this is exactly how events will pan out

Very similar to Buddy's and he should be free to play. If there is a difference it will be due to Gray and the PAFC playing fairly. The little pantomime from the Swans was embarrassing. Malceski continued to play so either he was fine or the Swans medicos are incompetent. They didn't ice the cheek so there was no swelling but rather than do an X-ray in case of fracture, they thought it necessary to do an MRI to look for a bruise for which the best cure is for mummy to kiss it better. It's an attempt to get an unfair advantage or to put it more simply, cheating.

High bumps just like tackles should be a free kick. If the bump caused injury (the player doesn't come back on) there may be a case for a report. If it was clearly malicious, fine, report and plenty of weeks. There have been so many ridiculous suspensions and it's about time fans and media put their agendas aside and were vocal about how we want our game played.

Bumps are fair game. But if he gets less than two games, it highlights the inconsistencies with the tribunal system. Every other bump with head high contact has resulted in at least 2 matches, correct me if I'm wrong.

Firstly, Sttew and Winty is plural, so do rather than does.

Secondly has the game come to this - you have to find one still image to support your case? If you watch the footage without reducing it to a still image at a time there is no discernible head contact. Robbie Gray acts it up throwing his head back. Gets the free and that's the end of the matter as far as he is concerned
don't think he should be reported, as every other bump I've seen, but. Under the system this year, this deserves a punishment.

This is one of the most illogical posts I've seen.

So two people could do the exact same action with the exact same force on two different players, but one could get suspended because the player he bumped had a higher propensity to get injured?

The actions should be judged on the act themselves, not on the resulting damage if there is to be any consistency.

And how the hell did Sydney cheat in this? Did they make Franklin bump Malceski high? Please.

Shouldn't be reportable and I don't want him rubbed out, but this is just deluded. If you watch it quick enough you can't see head contact? He hit the head, that isn't in doubt. If Gray had a glass jaw he'd be gone for a month.

I can however imagine Mark Fraser watching things he doesn't want to report in fast forward Benny Hill style and saying at the end 'didn't see much beside the woman police officer in underwear'.

There are obviously two questions when you start talking about the MRP.

What do I think he should get? Nothing. He gave away a free and Gray milked it by flinging his head back.

What do I think he will get? Probably a week, but it's the MRP so who knows.

Unfortunately he has connected with the head. The bump wasn't what I would call late but he did get off the ground.
If he just stayed on the ground he would have been fine. My guess is one week.

he is gone, at least one and should be 2 or 3. he jumped off the ground and copped the player high and late, only a fool would argue otherwise, its a pity for geelong and chappy, they will need him against hawks and he was close to bog last night and probably the difference in the end.
