Apparently he has hurt his knee in pretty serious fashion at Williamstown today.

We'll hope for the best, but the reports do not look good. Hopefully he'll be ready to go for the start of 2008.

This will either make him or break him.

I dont hope its true.

But if it is, then in 2 years time, we will know if Egan is going to be a star for the CFC or a bad draft pick.

not a good thing obviously but there are definite positives to be taken from it. I think the time away will make him hungry and less complacent, i think it will make him into a better footballer.
He has some definite soul searching to do

p.s any match reports?

SEN report that he may only miss 4-6 weeks and not an ACL. Take it with a grain of salt though.

Reports are it's a medial. Breathe a sigh of relief.

I think Collingwood should delist you as a "supporter". Next time you hop in bass strait make sure there's plenty of burley in the water.

I don't have to justify my opinion about these two players. But for you I will back up my statement.

They have had their opportunities to perform, but they are consistantly failing on the big stage. To win GF you don't need any chokers. If you are happy to just make it then keep them. With the list we are building we don't need players that can't compete when needed. Reality in football.

For too long and I mean 50 years to long we have held onto players who ultimately fail on the big big stage. As a passionate supporter I am sick and tired of being let down by various players who let themselves and everyone around them down.

I think your "opinion" speaks for itself. Do you honestly believe we should delist both Egan and Lonie and effectively get nothing in return. The next time the local theatre company puts on 'The Wizard of Oz' I suggest you head on down and try out for the role of Scarecrow, you'd be perfect.

How can you do a knee by being flashy? If that's what he said it's a stupid comment.

Were you there? IMO, Joffa was partially right. Chris beat his opponent and had a chance to dispose of the ball. Could have easily been avoided had he not have done too much, but you can't blame him for something which was accidental and may have never happened on another day.

Chris was on fire! He really did mean business in the early piece.

name them. i just watched the 2002 grand final on fox and lonie was one of our best players

Just a small snippet on the Egan injury out of the Age

http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/zebras-in-zone-cats-crash/2007/05/19/1179497343178.html

Collingwood's Chris Egan received a suspected medial ligament injury to his right knee in the first quarter and looks set for an extended lay-off. He was brilliantly tackled twice within five seconds by Melbourne youngster Michael Newton, the second tackle not only injuring the young Magpie, but also rewarding Newton with a free kick that resulted in a goal from the advantage paid.

This is what I mean. I guess I'm reading too much into Joffa's comments, it may have just been a throw away line, but knee injuries are accidents.

mayb the game has passed lonie????

i rkn egan is a keeper unless we can get a good young ruck.

lonie is trade bait, but again id keep him on my list for depth also.

Today was a graphic example of why Egan and Lonie are valuable to our side, BOTH are line breakers which is something there was precious little of in the second half.

Both are skillful outside players. I'd be hoping for some inside players with equal doses of skill to come along - Clarke and Wellingham come to mind but may still be a fair way off...

Not so sure on Lonie anymore but I still think there's a place for Egan. Just needs to apply himself more.

Why all this talk about Lonie? He's played 1 game and now has the dreaded OP.

What we are lacking is accurate kicking for goal. Outside of Dids and probably Medders, Lonie may be our next most accurate kick.

Opinions are fine but lets at least wait until we've seem a full season before we start delisting/trading players.

And to think we gave up Jordan Lewis for Chris Egan...

Wrong. We traded Nixon and pick 7 for a 3rd round pick (we traded that for Morrison) and pick 10. With pick 7 Hawthorn picked Lewis. Pick 10 we picked Egan. We may or may not have picked Lewis. People are quick to point this out as a recruiting blunder and saying we could've had Lewis. But if the recruiters are as bad as these people say they are, then there was every chance we would'nt of picked him up with #7.

Especially where Lonie can play back and play defensively. Having Lonie on Cooney would let the Shaw boys off the hook a bit. Or even having him play on an Eagleton rather than him moving to Davis and shutting him out of the game after half time after Toovey did a good job on him in the first half.
