The appointment of the former Brisbane Lions premiership defender will be officially announced tomorrow morning.

All articles in the paper today suggest an announcement will be out today because Cook and Costa are flying out to Ireland tomorrow.

Best thing about this will of course be the clean out by scott.

I'll be very interested to see the assistant coaches he has.
Maybe a small chance of Laidley?

Would be a good move in my opinion. Someone outside the Geelong system with new ideas. Would be a risk, but worth taking. Hopefully Sando would stay on though.

Chris Scott is highly rated by many, so it sounds like they potentially had a great process and selected the best applicant.

If this is true and Sando walks, so be it. Clean the ones out that don't want to be here and start again. Balmey said that if a non Geelong person was appointed that would probably mean a clean out and new game plan didn't he?

If true , its the tougher choice. Going past the internal boys for the outsider. Seems to indicate that some hard decisions will have to be made soon so not a job for mates rather than the quick refresh option for the one more hit out.

Again , if true guys like Ottens and Milburn may be getting the "talk".

Could Bomber's strong endorsement of Sanderson earlier in the year been a nail in his coffin? While I'm sure not the major factor can't help but suspect that since 2006 there has been some friction and resentment between Cook and Bomber which continued through to Bombers departure.

After Cook's comments earlier in the week it seemed like it would be between Sando and Hinkley so this is a bit of a surprise.

Chris Scott was always in the frame because he's regarded at Freo as having been a key to Freo's resurgence. And I knew he was highly regarded at Geelong, I think because of the knowledge he displayed during an Irish series. For what it's worth, my info is it's down to two with a final decision this afternoon followed by a recommendation to the Board tonight. Hinkley still a nose ahead.

Sando will most likely join his mate in 2012. I'd be surprised if he reneged on his contract with us next year.

I think assistant coaches applying for the senior coaching role isn't the same as senior coaches breaking their contracts, having secret meetings, and taking staff with them.

Look it up. I'm pretty sure about that.

Yeah the thing about the irish series was the way sando apparently spoke about how good it was to work with Scott.
So maybe they can / will work together.
