Hafey coached at least 13 players who later went on to become senior VFL/AFL coaches. God knows how many assistants. Of course, some of them (Stewart, Sproule, Erwin, Malthouse) all also played inder other coaches.

Not really talking about the players that go on to coach other sides, more the assistants that are brought in.

It seems a lot of other clubs bring in coaches who don't have senior coaching aspirations, where Hawthorn target assistants with senior coaching aspirations and do what they can to get them there.

Terry Wallace played at Footscray under Malthouse. Nearly man for every second coaching job for a while there Brian Royal also did.

That’s 9 of the last 12 Premierships all have direct links to the legend.
