Except ofcourse that china will more likely take action if the USa join back in and Europe go harder. The Chinese government have basically stated this in the last couple of days.

China will let everyone else pay more for power or production so they can sell at an advantage into their markets until nations start putting tariffs on imports from China - then they will pressure the opposition in your nation to talk about how terrible it is for your economy.

I think it's far more likely the solution to Chinese emissions will come in the form of cheap, easy fusion power being developed by the USA/EU/AUS and then the technology stolen by the Chinese, implemented in China and the emissions drop.

Or, we could all stop buying things from China.

It's an interesting quirk in that the person who they would want to change the rules to allow to be president when born outside the nation is most qualified for that position when they refuse to entertain the amendment of the constitution allowing them into power.

According to IPCC AR4, fossil fuels and land use contribute 29 Gigatons of the 750 Gigatons of CO2 cycling through the atmosphere. 40% of this additional CO2 is reabsorbed so that leaves 17.4 Gigatons of CO2 being added by humans each year.

According to the video the most promising method of industrial carbon capture costs between $94 and $232 per ton of CO2. So to offset the CO2 being added to the atmosphere by humans it would cost between $1,635,600,000,000 and $4,036,800,000,000. It's completely unviable but given these numbers there's no surprise that major investors are lining up to get into this market and also spruiking high carbon taxes that will subsidise it.

The population growth of the planet will primarily come from places like China, India, the African nations.

Check out what happens when a nation gets developed enough that it's women need to be educated and put to work. Baby making falls off a cliff.

That will happen there too.

For sure the population growth will be as you say. But I don't see women needing to be be educated and put to work as the driver of smaller families. There's enough males in the workforce to fill that need. It seems to be more about a subconscious recognition that, as living and health standards improve, ones children will survive to adulthood, so you don't need as many kisd to continue your progenity.

Why wait for catastrophe due to procrastination/inaction and lack of long range forethought ?

Australia has only 1 month supply of fuel reserves. If that stops suddenly, (eg Middle East war) how many walkers are going to mobilise and shoot enough critters in Sydney or Melbourne? No vehicles no supermarkets.

28% of Australia's arable agricultural land is now owned or 50% owned by Chinese interests.
60% of Australia's natural mineral reserves are controlled by overseas interests.

The price: Mere Aldi bags full of Chinese petty cash! Perhaps Swiss Bank accounts that dead men have so their children can get naked and go chasing Kangaroos in the bush!!!!!

I mentioned the education of women particularly because that is the factor that does it. That's the indication your birth rates are going down.

To get women in school we should have the jobs demanding them, then it's just smart business to put your daughters in school over marrying them to your neighbor.

You can walk down a rabbit and a kangaroo, definitely a snake and lizards.

Humans are the nightmare creature. If you were a rabbit or a roo you can get up to speed quickly, burst away and then recover - phew, you're safe. But you look over your shoulder and that human is still coming. We can walk 30km in a day. Your prey will sprint off, you'll catch up, it'll sprint off again and then it's done. They aren't endurance machines like humans are.

I could make a video of this, there's a mob of kangaroo near Lake Joondalup I could walk over to, put an arrow in one and then walk from there to near Edgewater (neighboring suburb) and catch it - but there is no way that won't be seen as cruelty to animals for the sake of a youtube video.

Humans are predators, our eyes face forward and we can move at walking pace all day. Prey creatures like rabbits or kangaroos are burst animals. Endurance always catches burst eventually and that's why point.

Humans will develop technology and methods to survive however the world presents the challenge.

The only people going extinct in the even of catastrophic climate change are vegans.

It's the billions of people living in developing conditions that will raise up to western standards that will destroy the world, but they should be allowed to, everyone should live like this.

We need a machine to make that work. Nuclear power will go a long way to that.
