u mad?

If and its a BIG if he went into the PSD, he would have al;ready come to terms with another team on $ and length.

No other team would pick him up, especially as it would be a large figure for at least the first year of his contract.

Pies may actually struggle to keep him due to their salary cap issues.....

Will be interesting to see how this one plays out!

I actually think he is more than expendable from Collingwood's point of view.

they rely on their "team spread" to get the job done, not individuals.

had minimal impact in the two GF's... kicked under 40 goals for the year, easily replaced IMO.

I'm sure they'll want to keep him, but it's certainly not panic stations if he ****s off...

Tarrant to return to the Pies forward line perhaps?

:p

What salary cap issues are they? There is plenty of room in Collingwood's salary cap after a few highly paid players have now retired or moved on (Medhurst, Lockyer, O'Bree and Fraser). Travis Cloke is currently overseas and happy to stay at Collingwood as he has said many times. His father, Damir Cloke is trying to push it, but would never recommend that his son enter either the National or Pre-Season Drafts of course.

Of course there won't be any young Collingwood players looking for salary increases over the next few years. The salary cap's a cakewalk.

Salary cap issues is BS. If we had salary cap issues we wouldnt have just traded for Tarrant - who will be getting 500+ next year and may not even be in our best 22!
Granted, the year after he will be getting half of that, but you get what I'm saying.

Cloke is just being greedy. We would have traded him for some seriously good picks if the pies HQ didn't think they could retain him.

Pretty easy there, Tarrant will get a backloaded 2 year deal because in the 2nd year he is eligible for the veterans list.

Of course there will be upward pressure on salaries at Collingwood but you have to remember where we're starting from. Collingwood still has one of the youngest lists going around and as the press keeps reminding us (when it suits them) there are no stars in our lineup. As such, and with the retirement of more senior players there is at least enough room to move. Geelong of all teams would understand that otherwise they wouldn't have got to where they did.

Gold Coast don't want him.
He's just asking the pies for more money than he is worth.

Gold Coast would love him. They would be very keen for a big bodied forward. They can easily front load big contracts because most of their team is skinny 18 year olds.

Either pies or coast for Trav. Maybe that rumor of last week (Travis to GC) might come true.

Tarrant goes on the veteran's list in 2012 and Luke Ball's contract is front loaded. Regardless, there is plenty of room in Collingwood's salary cap now, and there is no doubt that Travis wants to stay at the club he has always barracked for and has played in a premiership with. His father Damir would shit bricks if Gold Coast selected him in the National Draft and he had to move interstate from the family, so of course it won't happen.

You sure about that? Recent events would indicate that playing in a premiership and growing up supporting a club (even having a father play for said club) means didly squat when $ are involved.

So why would David be pimping Travis around town? Collingwood have dumped 2 of his sons, why would David feel any inclination to do the right thing by the Magpies? He has indicated a desire to play hardball on his contract, why should we not believe him?

Look, I don't think Travis is going to leave. But you are kidding yourself if you don't think that the Magpies are going to feel a salary cap squeeze in coming years. It is the nature of the system when you have a group of players who mature at the same time.

eddies employer (and eddie was boss once) might just have some idea of what the next rights deal is gonna be worth, therefore what the AFLPA will be chasing as a salary cap, therefore anything paid post 2011 will be accounted for.

no salary cap problems - everyone gets a rise after next year. how much depends on what you are worth.

WORTH CLOKE, WORTH.

You couldn't be serious that Tazz would be getting $500 K plus a year....the Pies must be borrowing some brown bags from out Princess Park way !!! :D

Eagles should have a lot of money in the cap (Cousins and Judd on big contracts) and they can front load his contract so that in a couple of years when their younger players come on they will pay them more. Also number 1 pick in PSD so if Cloke doesn't care where he plays just wants big money WC should get him.

Well if Tarrant is getting $500,000+ next year then its no bloody wonder that Cloke wont settle for the deal Collingwood is offering, he should be on $1,000,000 a year if thats the case!
