Coach on TFS tonight

Did he give all the panellists a hug and reassure them that they will get it right one day?
Not many coaches bother going onto TFS these days so if one goes on they bow and scrape

Spewing I missed it. I would have loved to see him sqerm and quiver in his seat. Can only imagine that JB asked him to come on after the shocking loss from last week.

If you were expecting "squirming" and "quivering" you'd have been very disappointed. He was calm, succinct and measured, and, on the Rockliff approach post game, backed by Sammy Newman who said he'd have done the same.

Sam always would have done the same stupid thing. Brad is no more than a spin doctor to me, says one thing and does another.

The Rockliff incident is just immaterial. Absolutely nothing wrong with what Brad did.

I really would like to know the thoughts of the club regarding certain players. It's difficult to get a gauge on the standard required to stay in the team. I think we all just want information. Surely the can give information without being too personal regarding players or giving away team topics.

Waste of time. Thought Gary Lyon was going to give him a hand job - how many fawning thank you's can you give?

Gary Lion had to thank him because he gave him the whack on FC on Monday night, prolly well before anyone realised he was coming on TFS, and then sat there red faced and doing that seat shuffle he does when uncomfortable mumbling that BS did the wrong thing.

So the thankyous had to roll out.

Ruthless

Spartan approach

I don't want to hear it, I want to see it.

THe team has the ability. show unrelenting desire.
A return to the crap facilities?

Get a couple of old transportables, put them in the middle of oval at Arden st
Tell the players and coaches that is your new offices, gym etc

I'm concerned at how united this board has been in its displeasure of Brad Scott this week. Normally there are apologists aplenty (and LT Smash and Only Forward are often among them) but this week there has been barely a peep out of them. Pretty damning.

He does have time though, for some reason...

I have been a fan of Scott since he started at the club, he was the right man to bring in at the time we needed someone with a plan of success. His player management skills are excellent (this can be judged by our players continuously re-signing). I stuck fat last year as I believe he had us heading in the right direction despite all of our close losses. I put them down to mental lapses by our players that the coach can't do much about on game day.

But....this year has been different. The brilliant wins on the road against top 4 teams in the early rounds showed me what this team is capable of. Since then we have been served up a bucket load of crap. I can't find anymore excuses for it other than this team appears comfortable with where it is at and are not being held accountable for it.

They need a rocket from the coach, but the coach seems unable or unwilling to give it.

I'm still excited about what lies ahead in the next 3-4 years, but my excitement has waned a lot over the past couple of months.

No great issue with Brad's appearance on TFS. They're not there to satisfy our curiosity or perform detailed post-match analysis. Brad conducted himself well as he always done. As always, he's quite a likeable fella.

The only 'what?' point that's already been pointed out was his emotive dismissal of stats. Very, very odd from a man who would try to salvage credit after beltings by pointing out all the statistical categories we excelled in.

Same for me. I am a lot closer to the DarwinRoo end of the spectrum than the Jack Reacher end, as far as defending North people against criticism goes, but the Adelaide game and Brisbane game in the same month, with a lacklustre win against Melbourne in between, has me scratching my head about what is going on. This season, they haven't gone hard enough against teams that they should beat, so they have wound up with unconvincing wins (even the Brisbane game wasn't half what it should have been) and disappointing losses. A team that can beat Sydney and Freo and even West Coast away shouldn't do that.

I don't expect them to win every week, I allow for injuries and form drops and upsets, and I won't stop coming along and cheering them. It was crap when we watched them be reliable against lower teams and get smacked by the top teams. But the reverse isn't better. And along the way we have also lost the flair and excitement that had everyone wanting to watch and was very hard for oppositions to stop. I haven't enjoyed this season and I so want to have fun at the football again.

To an extent I agree with him. Take the MFC for example. Under Roos they rack up the numbers but still don't win. But the reality is that it depends what stats you look at. Number of inside 50's and scoring effectiveness once in there is a good one, as is the defensive comparison at the other end. They indicate game style. We concede a heap of inside defensive 50's but defend well, and achieve low inside attacking 50's, but score well. What they tell us is that we are being beaten in the midfield and the contested ball numbers show that, and as a consequence we get very little opportunity to spread and generate quick, clean entry inside 50.

But anyway, the stats aren't telling us stuff we don't already know. Our ball usage when we do win it is generally poor, especially out of stoppages, our slingshot is gone to the dogs, we continue to shut off mentally defensively for periods and our forwards are being starved of clean opportunity to influence games, and when they do get it they are out of form.

I'll be going to the game tonight for the first time in years with very little excitement and very little to look forward to. And that blows.

I reckon most of our real flat spots this season have been fathomable.
Round 1 - new game plan, Essendon up and about. C'est la vie.
We were always going to struggle against the Pies coming back from a big win in Sydney.
Adelaide are always hard to beat in Adelaide.
The Gold Coast game was very disappointing, but they do have some premium talent and they were on song that day.
Cats are always hard to bear down there, got a rocket in the leadup, and some of their ageing stars wound back the clock.
To me, none of those losses were wrist slashingly bad.

However, last week was unfathomable. Brisbane are a very poor side, coming back from a heavy ground in the West. It appeared almost unlosable and the first quarter was further evidence of that.
I still livid about it, because it stands out as the most disappointing loss of the year, by a country mile.

I can tell ya swiper, that GC game was at times, bloody abhorrent. The ease at which they transitioned the ball from defensive contest to scoring opportunity was horrible and was more down to our lack of defensive presence at the stoppages than their talent. Parts of that game were up with what we saw last week, which was, as you say, wrist slashingly bad. Sad thing is, I wasn't surprised after last weeks game. Not at all.

But yeah, losses I can understand, but even so periods of those games we were just flat footed and poor. Consistency is where its at and we aint where its at right now.

That bloody first quarter was the worst slop we've seen from a North side in a long time. Witches hats..........witches hats everywhere!

I was gobsmacked at the shit that I was witnessing. Amateur hour stuff.

He is an excellent media performer. It's just a pity for him that we on BF think we are onto his ''schtick''.

Speaking of which, Sam Gibson was on SEN on Wednesday morning and I nearly ran off the road when he said something like ''we were excellent for 3 quarters against Brisbane and lost the game because of one bad quarter.'' ''Excellent'' he said. WTF!!

This is Brad-speak. Sadly, it's become team culture.

I agree with the overrating of stats. The point of emphasis was that he was directly contradicting himself from past seasons.

Well to be honest they scored only 25 points in 3qtrs so l agree with Gibson on that point.

Frankly l can take the losses & inconsistency because we don't really have the good calibre of players people think we have just look at the ins this week. As far as Scotts justification for approaching Rockliff what a load of dribble. What did he think he was defusing? It was all done & dusted, it was more a look at me moment than anything, he really lost me with that.

I've left every game I've attended this year disappointed, even in our wins. Richmond victory was good but the second quarter had me annoyed and concerned, the Melbourne win was scrappy and we should've won by a bit more, same with Brisbane, Bulldogs game was just terrible, Collingwood performance was lazy as ****, Essendon was just downright deflating, and don't get me started on the Gold Coast. Sadly I missed our best game of the year in Round 3.
