Saw the first 3 quarters of this game and not a whole heap to get excited about. We kicked the first 3 goals and looked the goods but by qrt time Casey had clawed back. The second qrt was a scrappy period and we were goal-less for the qrt. In the third the Burgers looked a lot better as the rain had ceased and they were kicking with the wind. It was a 6 goal to 2 term. At 3/4 time we were 4 points in front.

Not sure what happened in the last.

Points from the day: Vickery, Polak, Connors, Alroy played in the two's.

Thompson did some good things early.

McMahon had plenty of the ball but early on still couldnt hit a target. He doesnt seem to un derstand that when he passes to a runnning teammate he must put the ball in front of him.

Tim Clarke gave a lot of run.

Patto was ineffective.

Hughes tried hard.

Oakley Nicholls looked ok, especially running off half back but was then moved forward and whilst he tried didnt seem to suit.

Silvester was very good at full back.

Good to see Cogs back in the game and he looked promising.

At 1/4 time Rawlings got stuck into the backline saying they were'nt manning up and sorting themselves out (match-up wise). He was (obviously) much happier at the 3/4 time break praising Caruso, Gourdis.

Gourdis is a trier but his inability to make the distance from 30m was a worry! Not sure if he has the height for a kpp but he has the backside to bump out an opponent!

All in all it was pretty disappointing, the skill level was down and whilst you can blame the wet weather a lot of it was due to us having poor skills. The amount of handballs that went to their intended recipients feet, or behind them as well as kicks that went over the head ( or well in front of) was a worry and similar to watching Richmond proper.

Was reported Cogs had 40 touches and looked good then backed up by a couple of people so hopefully next week - OUT: Edwards IN: Coughlan

Anyone who went down gonna do a report? Someone off OER reports Cogs had 40 touches but can't be too sure if that's true. Thanks in advance.
if thats true should we bring him in this game? or wait till he is 100% fit?

He has played in 2 VFL matches now so you would think he could run out a match and it's not like we need him on the ground as much as Foley, Tuck, Lids, etc. I would bring him in to replace Edwards in a heartbeat.

I'd hope the only change this week would be Edwards out, Thomson in. Against the Doggies we'll need hard taggers/strong contested ball winners and the obvious choice would be Titch out and Thommo in.

Not sure about Patto, he lacks aggression. I thought Graham was alright, he looked big did a few useful things. Hislop didn't get too much ball but I got excited with the way he put his body into contests, did some smart things, glad he played. Rance looked good - needs to stay in - which we prevent Thursfield getting back in most likely.

Lets hope the boys take some pride and confidence from skilled and serve it up to the Doggies next weekend!

Yeah going off all the reports you would think Thomson in for Edwards. Schulz may get another crack as there's no one else to come in due to Hughes and Gourdis not playing too well at the moment. Maybe Collins in for Nahas, who knows. Surely King can't retain his spot after turning the ball over too much and giving away stupid free kicks. Who is going to play the small defender position? Not a fan of Jake 'VFL' King at all.

I'm surprised that Shulz is even being mentioned around here for getting dropped this week.

I for one thought he played alrite against the cats. Did some clever things, like the tap on to riewoldt, but mainly put alot of defensive pressure on.
