Presti had lost a bit of athleticism by the end, but then again he was about 40 or so. Tends to happen with most, come into the game and they're quicker and jump higher than the oldies; by the end everyone is quicker and jumps higher. Happens to most, I'm guessing the above only saw old Presti.
I don't think many will agree. Presti was always in the clubs quickest for sprints and was drafted as a forward. Age didn't make him faster, just smarter. I can't really remember him jumping high in his final years either.

Dawes

What would u guys think a fair and reasonable trade for this guy... Say we offer a contract that squeezes him out of ur salary cap...

Our first round pick and one of bate or Morton?

Re: Dawes

He has already rejected Melbourne once when he wasn't best 22 why niw he's starting 18 would he change his mind?

Also lol bate, and rofl Morton. How is either of those two fair and reasonable for anyhing above a late(!!!!!!!!) second rounder?

True regarding Morton and bate...

However a second attempt at Dawes would be a much bigger offer and the list now compared to then has a lot more to offer.... who knows though..

Re: Dawes

dawes + 2nd rounder for lucas cook petterd and 1st rounder may be viable for both clubs if collingwood has no salary cap room for dawes and melbourne really want him. Big raps on cook for the future, petterd could become very good in a better team and we upgrade our 2nd roudner to a 1st, a trade like this may be needed to keep daisy and reid

Some players value premierships over money.

No interest in Bate or Morton. We can do better than trade for depth players.

Watts for Dawes

Only trade I'd do with Melb for Dawes. Trading him would mean disaster and leave us with only one AFL level key position forward - which hugely takes down our premiership chances.

Wouldn't do the trade. We are in the business of winning premierships. Not trading established and critical players for a developing player who will have no influence on winning now.

FWIW I agree, just interested to know why are you prepared to ship off some of our potential stars like Wellingham for O'Meara??????

I've changed my mind on O'Meara.

Could be a franchise player.

But the reason I was initially in favour of getting involved in the GWS action was because up until recently I wasn't comfortable finding 3 delistings (only thought Dick + Stubbs were worthwhile delistings) and I felt the GWS trade idea was a potential work around where we could dish off a couple of players to make some room on our list to retain others.

But now I'm willing to add Buckley + McCarthy to that list if they cannot be traded. View them as only depth and at their respective ages that probably isn't quite enough - even with their respective noted improvement.

Also looking at some of the potential deals other clubs might be prepaired to do for O'Meara.
eg. Port Adelaide: Pick 4 + John Butcher type young player.
Gold Coast: Pick 6 + one of their many young players.

It just isn't worth our time competing for an O'Meara because he likely won't be a bargain as many of us had initially hoped.

Also with O'Meara it would be another year until we add him (assuming we traded into that no.1 spot in the mini draft) and he won't have a particularly immediate impact on winning - which is what we should be looking for with our premiership window open for hopefully the next 3-4 years. Since his impact wouldn't be much greater, if greater at all than Wellingham (2013+2014), then add to that whatever pieces + picks and it's just not worth our while from an immediate perspective.

The reason why a trade of Dawes would be particularly problematic whereas Wellingham would have been less so is because we don't have a like for like replacement. Whereas with Wellingham there are more than enough who could come into the midfield rotation to take his spot (Bolton, Seedsman and so on) - not that I am necessarily in favour of trading him. Would take a fair trade for Wellingham to go since he is a significant part of our best 22.

The type of trade I'd be looking at right now would be Simon Buckley + John McCarthy to GWS for a Luke Brown (can prelist and on trade, Krakouer style) or for a minor pick upgrade.

Not super keen on going for the "big fish" this trade week but happy to facilitate more minor moves mostly.

Re: Dawes

IF we got offered Watts for Dawes I would take it 9 times out of 10. He is going to be a gun, not that I think Dawes won't be great, but Watts is just coming along nicely atm and can take a very, very good mark

I think Dawes is a better player for colllingwood. The way we play is about congestion and close in contests. You dont get a lot of space to work in. Dawes is the sort of player we need for the game style. Watts is not.

I'm not saying Dawes is the better player. But the better player for our game plan.

Melb won't trade Watts.

We won't trade Dawes.

Finding a trade involving Melb for Dawes isn't of relevance.

More attainable for them would be a Tom Hawkins if they want a similar type player.

They could pretty easily trade Lucas Cook for Hawkins + 1st rounder if they want a power forward to go with Watts that badly..

Except Hawkins is shit. He isn't worth a first rounder let alone a player to boot.

I'm probably one of the few with faith in Hawkins still. But if he ever wants to make it at AFL level and be more than a fringe player he needs to become a much stronger mark and not be so reliant on taking it on his chest every time.

But for Melb I wouldn't trade for him either. Cook has shown enough to suggest he will develop into a solid KPF in a couple of years (once he adds some size - which will take some time since very skinny upper body) and Watts is set to explode next year. They will be fine.
They just need a little more leadership and a few more experienced players to get that consistancy they need to take that next step.

Ps. When are you going to release your list management thread? Remember you released it around this time last year. Very much looking forward to seeing what you produce and how it differs from mine.

When will we expect to see the club make decisions on the list? Will they wait until our AFL season is over? Or will we see a few players say goodbye to the CFC fans on CTV now that the VFL season has ended?

Won't be announced till season is over.

But certainly will be in the process of deciding if they haven't decided already.

You need to get through trade week first to see what you have left on the list

Hope the club quickly let Shae know behind the scenes where he stands.

He'd be on a visa which probably means he doesn't have the luxury of simply going with the flow. And if he is leaving, it'd be good to give him as much opportunity as possible to find a gig at another club.

It'd be a big shame to lose him to the game.

He's been very active lately with making training videos and putting them on his website which shows he's keen to stay with AFL.
