22 in a quarter yet still managed to have less for the game :p
The refs did their job in an efficient manner. Only took them one quarter.

We'll see if they can back up a strong performance tomorrow ;)

Im actually all for us being taken out of the Queens Bday fixture. A tinpot overrated fixture, one that we've dominated over the last 10 meetings.

Had we won today questions would've been raised about keeping Melbourne in it. Take us out of it and watch the AFL struggle to even get 60k average each season, given it's Melbourne.

No great loss if we're not in it. I'm all for us not being in it. Should be between Essendon and Melbourne now seeing as there is now a Neale Daniher connection.

You realize you've got to play away games in Melbourne at some point? Surely you'd rather play them at your home ground against a team who won't maximize the gate takings due to lower membership numbers? Would you prefer losing to Richmond on QB and seeing them make a fortune?

This is the funniest thread I've ever seen... talk about taking your bat and ball home!

I think the point is about giving you the gate every year. Personally I don't give a crap.

Well this year we play each other twice at the G, you get one and we get one. This year, QB is earlier so its less likely either team's year is shot by then, so will have a bigger crowd. But if its close at year's end, I'll be surprised if close to 70k don't rock up.

If you don't play with 21 men we will destroy you.

No. We already have ANZAC eve which is great. We should play you guys the week after as that gives both teams almost the same rest period.
That would make too much sense for the AFL to do... the fixture is anything but common sense.

The problem is that we are the ones who have to supply the bat and ball so you can play. The QB clash was developed to give MFC a financial leg up during tough times. Now with the inclusion of the Freeze MND campaign - which is a great thing by the way - it really has become MFC's special day. For us there isn't a great rivalry and the day doesn't really pose any more significance than any other game. You could interchange Collingwood with another Victorian club and have the same buildup to the game and Freeze MND campaign without issue.

As a Collingwood supporter, I see no benefit to the club in playing on QB. We already have Anzac Day as public holiday fixture anomaly, but it's approached in a different way. There is an equality between the clubs, whereas with QB there is a clear MFC leaning which is evident throughout the pre game and most annoyingly for me, in the commentary. Also, I am all about winning, so anything that could jeopardize a win be it a compromised fixture, umpiring, financially supporting another club etc, I want the club to do it's utmost to have them removed. That goes for the QB game as well.

This post is what my OP should been. Thanks for the summary Jasper.

That's why we played Essendon the week after this year

wicksy can you edit the poll to see who has voted for which option? I get the feeling that Melbourne supporters have brigaded the poll.
