Apparently the AFL has actually hired a script writer to dictate the outcome now. The umpires failed today if they were to control the outcome of the game discretely.

We should give it up because the game is all about them now and what they have to play for. Gives them a reason to play, unlike the past 20 years. Also makes everyone else sympathise with their club, including the AFL and umpires.

Whilst it isn't a guaranteed loss, it's also a game we clearly care very little about. I wouldn't say we've played good football in too many of these outings since the early 2000's.

To top it off the attendances are never THAT good. Give it to two teams with an actual rivalry and you'd get Anzac sized crowds. The problem is I can think of a dozen teams with whom we've got a more fierce rivalry than the Dees, and there's probably a fair few teams the Dees would rather play as well.

Make it Essendon v Melbourne, that way the meaningful Daniher link has some real relevance to both clubs. As it stands, it's a manufactured event (and even the umps seem to play along to make it a scripted finish rather than a fair contest).

We would eventually win but the effort from melbourne queens birthday compared to the games either side is notable. Pretty sure Malthouse mentioned this a couple of times. Its their Grand Final and for us it's round 12. I hope we stop requesting this so called blockbuster

So I gather by everybody thoughts here I'm not the only one, we owe Neale Daniher nothing, they can piss off and use another club like they use and our massive following, I've had a gut full of this stuff, Collingwood are stupid to let another club to pump them up to the detriment of our team and 4 points each year, the AFL don't want us to spoil the party, those lady 3 mins today told a huge story, it was the BIG FIX, something needs to change, the booing for the maggots as they walked off today was massive, loud and long, we could all see it, yet they treat us as stupid
