Doesn't take a rocket scientist to admit that we are in desperate need of a quality, mature ruckman.
Hampson, Kreuzer and Cloke have been playing as unrapt meat left to be fed to the Sandilands's and the Cox's of the AFL, which results in us consistently getting belted in the clearances game in and game out.

This is where a mature and experienced ruckman like White comes in.
We need someone to help take the burdern off this boys which I'm sure will help speed up their development as they won't be thrown straight into the deep end like they have been this year.

Though he only has another 1-3 years left in him, I still rate him as a quality player and ruckman of the league and having him actually winning taps to Judd, Murphy Gibbs and co will do wonders for our midfield.

Even if you oppose to us recruting White, wouldn't you rather a guy who has 10 times the skill of Ackland and gets payed 10 times less sitting on our list?

He was in quite good form at the start of the season. People forget that he was actually in front of Simmonds for a call up to the Vic's earlier this year.

Common misconception that he's not good enough because he was dropped. Melbourne are looking forward and he clearly isn't in their long term plans.

Would love to get him down for a year, and maybe 2 to help the boys out. But i wouldn't be offering any picks for him. PSD only.

I would also love to take him in the PSD but what are the chances of Essendon taking him? If Hille goes down, they can't have Laycock or Bellchambers rucking all year.

You'd definitely be able to get him in the PSD I reckon.

You have to remember though that he turns 32 at the start of next year, you would get 1 season out of him, 2 if very lucky.

Can't see that happening mmb. Just can't see the Dons picking up White. Reckon they'll be looking for another young ruckman in this years draft.

If we manage to get White, who will get their shot in the reserves. I say Hampson, maybe even Cloke.

But I think we really need White, think we can get him in the PSD too.

Cloke.

Rotate between Hampson and Kreuzer as the other ruck spot, or play White, Kreuz and Hampson together when necessary.

Reason why i think we'll get White if the club is interested in drafting him.

PSD Order..

Melbourne - Obviously they won't be re drafting him.
West Coast - Aren't going to be picking up Jeff White, espeically with the amount of youth coming through.
Fremantle - Already have Sandilands, and then theres Warnock. They'll also be looking toward youth. White would be unecessary
Port - Already have Lade and Brogan. Won't be going there.
Essendon - Have Hille and then Laycock as mature/experienced ruckman. Will be looking toward drafting a younger type in the draft, or trading for one under the age of 23/24 one would think.

Cameron Cloke was a real positive for Carlton this year, yes he might not have been the dominate ruckman that we need but you cant question his attitude, the bloke gives 110% against bigger and taller opposition each week, he shows controlled aggression chips in with goals, is a booming kick and can take the odd screamer, im glad for him and the club that his shoulders held up and maybe in the future could play across half forward and provide another option to goal for our midfield. I hope that the improvement continues in 09 as i have really enjoyed his passion for the navy blue jumper this year.

I think Jeff White has been a good player over his career but he is a bit small for my liking. I believe Brendan Lade would be a better target. He is still under contract so we would have to trade for him. Maybe a 3rd or 4th round draft pick.

I never question his commitment or attitude. Has put in the effort and it's been great to see his shoulders hold up.

However i just feel that he's unable to deliver the ball we require from the center hitouts.

Up forward he's slow, and can be exploited once the ball hits the deck much like he was last night (brilliant move from Clarkson to play Hodge on him)

Not saying he doesn't have a future. He's been very handy for us and i'm sure there's still improvement to come. But his weaknesses will eventually come to count against him I feel.

Jeff White would be a good addition to the team but Dean Brogan would be better overall... solid game yesturday by the big man.
Would also be around a couple years longer

And to cloke being dropped, no chance..the man bleeds blue, he gives it his all for carlton and thats exactly what we need at carlton... guys who play for the jumper not for the paycheck.

How about you trade for seaby. He is a premiership ruckman and a very handy goal kicker has kicked over 20 a couple of times a year and is very accurate 64 goals 27 points over career. 24 years old, played 97 games (had allot of finals experience in those games including a winning grand final) picked up #14 in 2001 draft. Has been down on form this year as cox is so dominate in ruck and can run out games seaby finds it hard to even get a game, as we tend to prefer pinch hitters rather than back up rucks.

Would be first ruck in any other team, only problem is what we would get for him. Would be interested in seaby and #20 for a first round pick. He IS worth it.

Are you a used Car Salesman?

Carlton are only after a ruckman as a stop gap for 1-2 years. Won't be going after Seaby i wouldn't think. Let alone trading our first round pick in a package for him :o

To be truthful, that's all we would want him for anyway. Would free Cloke up for play forward more of the game, and would take some of the pressure off Hampson and Kreuzer.

Playing OK today. 18 hitouts, 11 possessions and a goal

Lade and Brogan are far better options than Jeff White but we can only go after those that are available.

An established ruckman will release Cloke to CHF and two of our problems are solved.

No we have to stick with Krooz, Hammo and Jackobs. They only way they are going to get better is to get a lot of game time. I am happy with Hammo he had a lot of quite games etc but he go experience with another pre season into them they will improve out of sight next season.

He can rack up hit outs, which is what we need.

He has averaged 17.7 hit outs this year. Now while this is not the best in the league, C Cloke has never gotten more than 17 in his career.

This year, White has played 12 games (not including today) and got 20+ hit outs in 7.

He has had 20+ possessions on 7 occasions and 16+ possessions in all but 2 matches.

Now I for one don't normally pay all that much attentions to stats, however, I was surprised at looking at all of these, and to see how competitive he an be.
