I know now may not be the best time to post such a thread, i would have done the same if we had of lost.

But the Hawks and Swans truly played a game worthy of being the pinnicle of the competition.

You can be proud of your efforts today and you shouldn't doubt where your club will stand in 2013. Up the top, competing for the Premiership once more.

You guys played fantastic today, deserved winners. You've been fantastic all year, in fact. Despite the umpires favoring us (which was shocking enough, btw) you did the business when it needed doing. Obviously I am gutted, but we were beaten by a deserving winner.

Ditto to all the above. As much as it will hurt for you guys right now, both teams played in an amazing game.

You were more than worthy grand finalists and a kick away from being premiers. Both teams spoke of their respect for each other, and I think neutral supporters could feel that.

Yep absolute respect for the classiest opposition supporters around. We got a three cheers from a group of them at the end and there was no "in your face" attitude just joy. The original supporters lost their club from lake oval remember and had to wait over 70 years for glory in 2005. Remember how we felt when we almost lost ours?? they deserve to be joyous tonight. On the other hand we had a group of hawks behind us who could not stop attacking Kennedy all day. No class.

He said something to the effect of: We need to put today (the defeat) into perspective and referred to the case of Jill M and the importance of family and friends.......... Some sense at last in the hyperbole that is modern footy.

I think we underestimate how much Clarko is also growing up and developing into a class act, his sense of community and looking after those less fortunate than himself will one day be part of Hawthorn folklore. To be honest hearing about him having the composure to think of what that poor girl went through is making me feel a little emotional.

Hey guys, full commiserations. Either team could have won it today. You played so well but just didn't have it on the day.

You have a great team there and absolutely will still be a force to be reckoned with next year.

The Hawks were brilliant all year and the GF was a dead set toss of the coin.

With a great coach and awesome list the future is bright and hopefully you guys can go one better next time.

Luke Hodge spoke beautifully at the presentation and Clarkson has been equally classy in the interviews and functions since.

The Hawks only won a lot of fans today. Great club.

Agree Bunghole and it's nice to see it cut both ways. Some real maturity being shown by both sets of supporters. Very proud of how our supporters and club are conducting themselves in defeat. Equally, all class by the Swans folk. As for Clarkson, he has grown up a fair bit in the last 18 months. Touching that as a family man he can rank appropriately the loss of a football match compared to a family member and loved one. Class all round people.

Well done swans, deserved winners. Hurts so much to lose a grand final but hopefully we will be stronger next time.

You know how a lost grand final feels like, I think most hawks fans would be happy thre Swans took it if it was not ment to be ours.

Definitely prefer to lose to an irrelevant south melbourne rather than a Victorian club. Red and white worthy winners, and managed to stay under the radar all season.

as much as I would've preferred to be in the GF ourselves, I want to congratulate both teams on one of the great GFs. I didn't get excited all week and only tuned in because it was too cold to do the gardening. Damn it was an awesome match. Small consolation I know (eg I still haven't watched a replay of 2002 even though friends say it was a good one) but all Hawks fans should be proud.
