i hope they're right when they say there's no such thing as a stupid question. but seeing as the compensatory pick has been a bit confusing and changed somewhat i am hoping to get a bit of clarification.

from what i've read bock's gc salary etc has resulted in us receiving a late first round pick. in a normal year with no gc/gws or priority picks, would this be pick 19. is it presently calculated at 26 due to gold coast's picks and presumably next year as well with gws. if we choose not to use it in either of the next 2 drafts, i presume the replacement player would be an extra pick at the very end of the draft. so we would be banking our pick 19 for 2 years and would be using a 5th round pick until then.

also, is there a chance that we could lose any of our other uncontracted players to gc in the psd. i know we can lose them to other clubs who we can't agree on a trade with. but what is now stopping more of our players refusing to deal with afc and going into psd having already signed a deal with gc. i have heard that gc has the option to secure 10 further uncontracted players before the psd, but there is doubt about whether this applies to 2010 afl listed players. is there a definitive answer on this anywhere.

You must pick the year of use prior to the H&A season, from 2012-2016.

1st bracket: An extra 1st round pick after your initial pick (ie if you take the wooden spoon that year, you would have #1 & #2, or if you finished 4th, you would have #17 & #18) AND a mid-round 1st pick after the non-finals team have their first pick (depending on how the finals system works & priority pick, probably pick 9-12)
2nd bracket: An extra 1st round pick after your initial pick. In my opinion, what we are likely to get for Bock.
3rd bracket: A first round pick at the end of the round, #19 in years without a pre-1st round priority pick.
4th bracket: An extra 2nd round pick after your initial 2nd round pick.
5th bracket: An extra 3rd round pick after your initial 3rd round pick.

Bock will most likely be in the 2nd bracket.

The topic "more importantly...." is also a dicussion about this.

A... Assuming, as most do, that we get a 2nd bracket/category compensation for Bock, that will be 1 first round pick. Its only a LATE first round pick (that is, after all the GC, GWS and other club's normal round 1 picks) in 2010 and 2011.

After that, we get another round 1 pick immediately after the normal pick, that depends on our ladder position that year.

B... Yes, the current published rules say GC can take more than one uncontracted player from any club, either by the device you specify: going into the draft with an understanding that GC will use a draft pick - but would GC give up picks 1, 2 or 3? After that other clubs get into the draft.

The other way is for GC and the club loosing the player to come to a trade agreement, involving current GC signed players or draft picks.

"Gold Coast FC may include on its primary list up to one listed player from each club (or more than one if the other club agrees) provided the player is uncontracted for the 2011 season".
