Yet another comp idea...
What do people think about 'Town of the Week/Fortnight'? Somewhat inspired by this thread - "Why do Aussie rules country/amateur jerseys & nicknames follow AFL more closely than rugby league?" - each round a town/suburb would be announced and people would have to design an identity (jumpers, logos, etc) without blatantly copying one of the existing AFL teams. The winner would get to pick the next town. It'd get to the grass roots of straightforward Aussie Rules jumper design - no crossovers or mergers, just making jumpers. And there is the possibility that the designs could be forwarded to local teams to try to get them to distinguish themselves from the AFL.

Thoughts, comments, questions, suggestions? 10 likes and it'll happen. Less than 10 and forget I asked. Or are people interested but want to shelve the idea for the future?

I do like this idea, perhaps so that it can be adapted to showing local clubs what could be done to their identity, the comp could be modified to local clubs rather than just a town (especially seen some towns may have multiple clubs. This could then allow clubs from all over the country (so long as they are in a local competition not one of the bigger regional comps).

I love the idea of a town of the week. It's got all the good fun of something like the NAFL without having to wait months and months before designing another guernsey.

Plus it's got a good point of difference from Cat Attack's comp because it isn't related to AFL clubs.

So we'd get two new Aussie Rules based comps, one for AFL clubs, one for letting our imaginations run wild.

Would anyone be interested in a sort of re-designish comp, like in soccer how majority of the team change all their jerseys each year. Do this for AFL teams, whole new set of jumpers that can be traditional but slightly different to the current or a completely bold new design.

Lets get this ball rolling!

And that's 10! Here's some potential rules; what does everyone think?

Locality of the Week
  • Each round, a location will be chosen - a town, a suburb, a region - and an Australian rules team will be developed for that location.
  • Each entry must include an identity for the team: it's nickname and/or mascot. Ideally, nicknames and mascots will be relevant to the location. General details about the location will be given each round to help inspire this: significant landmarks, existing sporting teams (Australian rules or otherwise), town colours, etc.
  • Each entry must have a home and clash jumper, preferably together in one image.
  • Jumper designs must not be exactly the same as existing designs in the AFL.
  • If there is an existing Australian rules team in the location that doesn't have an AFL mascot, that identity can be used but the jumper designs must be distinctly different.
  • Each entry should include a logo. Original logos are preferred, but existing logos can be adapted as long as they are attributed. Current AFL logos cannot be used.
  • Maximum two entries per person.
  • Entries will be accepted for roughly one week.
  • Voting will be done with a multi-choice poll over roughly one week.
  • The winner will choose the next location.
  • Round 2 will start as soon as entries for Round 1 close. I'll choose the first two locations, the winner of Round 1 will choose for Round 3.

What would anyone think of bringing back CCCC? I know it was attempted to be brought back earlier this year, but Im sure that with the new influx of designers we're sure to be getting some new ideas

Link..?

IDEA: CFL Corporate Football League

CFL.png

This is sort of like NAFL crossed with the Tri-Cup
The year is 2020. The AFL is one of the last sporting leagues in the world to not allow front sponsors on the chest. The AFL clubs are angry and take action. All 18 clubs form a new league titled: "CFL" and each club must have a chest sponsor. Each designer must bid for a current AFL club, and if chosen, they will re-create the Home, Away and clash jumpers with a chest sponsor. They also are allowed to re-develop the jumper (Like the Jumper Development Comp that's happening now) as much as they want, but it must recognisable etc. You can't make GWS have a white jumper with a red sash. It will go for 3 rounds (Presuming we have 18 entries) and you vote for your top 3 kit designs. At the end of that round the 5 entries with the least votes will be dropped. This will continue until we get 2 entries, then there will be a grand final. The winner gets their username in the signature of everyone who entered the comp for 3 days in text like this:
Congrats to __ for winning the CFL 13/14 Grand Final LIKE THIS POST IF YOU WOULD BE INTERESTED!

1. Please define to term 'chest'.
2. This would be nothing like the Tri-Cup
3. You need to make the idea more specific.
4. And if this goes ahead, please wait till next year to start.

EDIT: 5. Why has ____ (Everton Lions) already won this comp.

We will see what everyone thinks. I just want there to be a reward of some sort

Sort of like this: (This is a jumper for a project I'm working on)
Home.jpg
You pick an AFL team, you design a new jumper for them and put a big sponsor logo on the front like the pepsi logo pictured above and submit it. Then everyones jumpers are put into a poll thread and the 8 jumpers that have the least votes get kicked out. Then another poll thread is created containing 10 entries and the 5 jumpers that get the least amount of votes get kicked out. Another poll thread is created containing the last 5 jumpers and the 3 jumpers with the least votes gets kicked out. Then there is a Grand Final with 2 entries and the winner of that wins the whole thing getting some form of prize. Each person is allowed to vote 3 times per round except the Grand Final, if they vote for more than 3 entries their votes aren't counted.
And it won't get started until next year because people will take time to pm me their jumpers
It's sort of like the Tri-Cup in the sense that it's a knock out comp

Sorry, but adding a logo to the stomach of the jumper isn't going to get my vote.
This is nothing like the Tri-Cup. The Tri-Cup knockout was a completely different format. It was head-to-head knockout.

Everything

Super simple stuff

I like the idea, but I think it needs tweaking. Maybe think on it and try to change the rules a bit

Alright
PS Is there something wrong with me if I read tweaking as "twerking"?
