Chelsea has had a plain blue shirt for over a century

Besides, how much bias is there towards pre existing identities?

You can do alot with a one colour jumper.

I think, in the case of Chelsea, just as long as you have a blue jumper you'll fit the brief perfectly. You can add whatever design you like after this

It's teams like Arsenal (white sleeves / cuffs), and teams with hoops and stripes that are going to be harder to work with as the designer will need to also incorporate these aspects into the design without just recreating the jumper.

This is probably the only time I'll side with the 'kaps over Dylan. There's heaps of the subtle shit you can do to a plain jumper.

Also, can we not clog this thread with reservations please? Leave it for the dedicated thread if/when it happens.

Fine, I will take the discussion back to the competition itself to smooth out some of the finer details that may help get it across the line as it is now at 9 likes.

Whether or not you have thought about it sjohnson, when it comes to the designs that will be required what will be done with sponsors on the designs? The Premier League only allows teams to have a single sponsor on their kit, so will there be just one on the back with club logo on the front, or small sponsors logo on the front with names replacing the sponsor on the back, or the same sponsor front and back?

Also what logo do you propose for the new competition? The new Premier League badge, the simplified lions head only, or something new? And will it be placed in the same location as the AFL as it is impossible to place it on the sleeves.

And what about numbers, a single font? or any font that people want? And what about positioning of numbers, will they just be on the guernseys or on the front of the shorts as well?

I have a concern about fixturing. I understand that the Premier League has 20 teams and 36 rounds. However I feel that this is too long for a BigFooty competition to run. Interest will down down quickly and will take almost a whole year to run. May I suggest two divisions of ten (Div1 and Div2), and a relegation / promotion of two at the end of each season. This would mean 18 rounds. And it would be up to you how'd you'd like to split the 20 teams into two divisions.

I have done a few mock-up kits for an example of the sponsor positioning. Currently I think it would be best to place the sponsor's logo just beneath the club logo on the left side of the guernsey, unlike the Premier League kits which have the sponsor logo placed right in the middle, which will just get in the way for a footy guernsey. No sponsors on the back, just a number and player's name. The players name will be placed above the number. I think it would be best if the Premier League font is used, which I can put in the OP in the potential thread if it gets through. If anyone is able to download their club's font, then something can be compromised, but it would be better if it was consistent throughout the league.

There could potentially be a poll to decide the new logo if anyone would like to design one. If that doesn't happen, I have modified the new Premier League logo to make it look more suitable for use on a guernsey. The logo will be placed on the right of the chest, where the AFL logo would be. No numbers or sponsors on shorts, the club logo would be on the right, and the manufacturers logo would be on the left.

I was planning on splitting the teams into 2 divisions, because as you said, it would mean it wouldn't go for so long. There are 2 ways the divisions could operate
1. Have a top division and a second division with the bottom 2 or 3 from the top division getting relegated at the end of the season, and the top 2 or 3 from the second division get promoted to the top division. No finals, everything decided on positions on the ladder.
2. The two divisions could run alongside each other, and have a finals series to decide the champion of each division, who would play off for the premiership.

If the first option is used, I would be happy for someone to run the second division.

I'd be more inclined to go with option one as it replicates the Premier League the most.

Just out of curiosity, would it be possible to build a timeline of competitions. One for the design period, and one for the poll period of the competition. It can give us a good idea of how when there's a lot of design and when there's none. This way we can fill gaps appropriately with a competition that suit the time period available.

Aussie Rules Premier League Example:
Here is an example of what Aston Villa would look like (if they didn't get relegated) using the guidelines I have come up with. The sponsor is placed below the club logo on the left side of the chest, and the comp logo is placed on the right.
The Premier League font is used on the back for the number and name, unless anyone wants to find their club's font to use, which may be allowed. The name is placed above the number on the back of the guernsey.
Sorry about the size of the images.
(If anyone is wondering, I used Under Armour instead of Macron as there are rumours that Aston Villa will sign a contract with Under Armour for the 2016/17 season.)

The only change I would make is probably use the full new PL logo (cannot be recoloured), or just the lions head (which could be recoloured to fit designs).
