My judgement of Rehn's competence will be based on the non-selection of D.Stewart.

I pray that whatever Rehn does over the coming 4 weeks has no bearing on his suitability for the senior coaching role and instead only serves to determine whether he can remain as an assistant coach who understands and appreciates the direction we need to take.

In fact, I hope above all hopes Rehn and the club clearly state his only intention is to spend the remaining 4 weeks settling the group so they are prepared for the arrival of the new senior coach.

Hi there - I haven't posted about this issue before but I feel a need to say this about Primus .

This was his second full year as coach - can't remember a coach being treated the way he has been so quickly in his tenure. Voss has Brisbane 2 wins and 6 percentage points above Port in his forth full year as coach .

Most teams have good times and then bad. He is not responsible for the quality of players at his disposal . Then he gets a terrible run of injuries to the team which makes a huge difference to performance. Injuries screw top teams badly what's it going to do to a bottom half team ?All you can ask a coach to do is improve the team and Port has ,despite a few bad results , improved since last year .

When you have a developing team or one that needs holes filling you get inconsistency - that's going to happen. You can want a team to improve quickly and make finals all you like but usually it takes time. It's not about players letting the coach down like I just heard someone on the radio say - it's just that there aren't enough good one's at Port at the moment . Weren't Adelaide shit last year ? I think they were if I recall correctly.

I guess that's coaching for you .Think the motto is if you are going to get into coaching start with a team that's already good or on the way up.

Anyone who has worked with the players should be asked to leave. No recently retired exPort players either.

I don't want anyone near the club who has it in their thick head that Salter's a backman, or Blee's a defender, or Westhoff's a ruckman, or any of that sort of crap.

Let new eyes come in and judge the list against what they have seen at strong clubs like Geelong, Collingwood, Hawthorn or WCE. Rip it to shreds and demand that every player lift his work ethic, preparation and output to career-high levels.

My mail is that the decision was made weeks ago to not reappoint Primus. That might indicate why our players have been so flat the last 2 weeks. Why play for your coach if you hear rumours he isn't going to be around.

There are a lot of crocodile tears here for Primus. I understand he didnt have the resources other clubs have but he simply hasnt done a good job.

He doesnt have the football nous to be an AFL coach, nor the cold-hearted streak to put the fear of God into a player or sack him on Mad Monday.

His game-day strategy is a mess, he is reactive and runs players out of position. His treatment of Kane Cornes, Jackson Trengove, David Rodan, Darren Pfeiffer, Daniel Stewart has been more than baffling.

The selection committee, which he heads up, has been inconsistent and at times incompetent. There seem to be no targets, no resolve and no accountability until it is way too late.

His media appeal is non-existent, he claims that supporters know "the road we are on" but we dont. We have no idea. Stop selling snake oil.

There have been few repercussions for consistently bad performances and the players now know that they can get away with playing amateur-level football and still get picked and paid.

This isnt all Mattys doing. The rot had already well and truly set in before 119. Matty however isnt the right person for the job, in fact he is the absolutely worst person for the job right now.
