Ben Moloney - (IM) 7 February 1991, 179cm 78kg. Geelong Falcons/Kolora-Noorat

"ant555: Ben Moloney- 181cm, 80kg – Geelong Falcons.
Not even sure if this kid will even get looked at but I have thrown him in based on one game I saw him play early this year. Has hardly played at all this season and is bottom age so he will probably be passed over. What I liked about him was he was good on both sides of the body, calm under pressure and read the game well. His down side would be his average pace.
Not sure if he will even be considered but I liked him."

John Nicolopolous - (SF) 19 July 1990, 180cm 78kg. Oakleigh Chargers/Hailebury College

"ant555: John Nicolopolous – 180cm, 78kg –Oakleigh Chargers.
I have only seen this bloke play twice and in one of those games he hardly touched the ball. Have thrown him in because someone asked me about him and he is an interesting prospect. Saw him play a reasonable game late last year but his kicking was a bit off and he kicked 1.3. Has played mainly as a small forward or winger but has missed a lot of footy. He started the first three games in good form this year and I was looking forward to seeing him play but he got injured before I got the chance.
Not sure where he fits into the draft picture but a small forward who has kicked 5 or more goals 4 times in 10 games may attract interest."

Justin Van UNEN - (SF) 3 April 1990, 186cm 83kg. Oakleigh Chargers/Doncaster

"ant555: Justin Van Unen – 186cm, 83kg – Oakleigh Chargers.
I saw this kid has made the state screening list. He has not played much footy this year and I have not seen any of it. I did see a few of his games last year and he was a good forward/ midfielder who used the ball pretty well. Had some solid numbers mid way through last year and his tackling was very good in the games where his confidence was up. He does have a bit of a problem with his goal kicking and has had the yips in a few games.
Having not seen him this year it is hard to line up his draft prospects."

Jayden Post - (OM) 5 December 1989, 195cm 86kg. Western Jets/Altona

"Snoop Dog: Overage player who is undoubtedly the best contested mark in the comp. had a super year but would have been handly if he could have played more VFL games at Willy. Plays at either end of the ground and whilst a good mark he is also good when the ball hits the ground. Quite athletic and can accumulate possessions."

"Cruiser23: Just like to put forward a name that might think about adding to that long and impressive list, Jayden Post, 05/12/1989, 195cm 86kg - Western Jets/Altona. Small write-up on one of the most impressive games i've seen by someone in the TAC Cup, first week of the finals.
Jayden Post (195cm, 86kg) - Athletic tall defender who can take a very very good contested mark and because of his athleticism, he's very versatile. Was playing loose across half back, at 195cm has a lot of dash for a big man and is not afraid to take people on. Also has a good right boot on him. One of the older plays on the ground, third year in the TAC Cup. Seems to play very much like Jarrad Waite, not as athletic but still moves very well for a big man. Went forward in the final term and took some strong contested marks, showed good ability at ground level, kicked 2 goals 2 behinds in the final term and brought the Jets back (with some help from Mitch Banner) into the game after being 30 down a 3/4 time, very very impressive game.
In this game he had 19 kicks, 16 handballs, 15 marks (6 contested) and 3 tackles."

"Bachar43:
Post had 35 touches, 15 marks, about 10 hitouts and kicked 2 goals, best individual performance i've seen in a TAC cup match. He's been great all year and on the back of that effort on the big stage, should get drafted."

"ant555:
Close to one of the best games a tall has played and a million times better than a few games i have seen him play. If he played at even half that level most weeks he would be touted as a strong first round chance. Based on his overall year i see him as somewhere between pick 30 and 60. Who knows maybe higher after today."

"Vic Crow:
I would've had Post around my Top 50 I reckon, even before yesterday's game (I haven't actually done my full list yet, so I can't say for sure). I've really liked his season and mentioned him a couple of weeks ago in a thread about the Jets potential draftees."

"Cruiser23: Yesterday only reinforced my opinion of him and probably won't see him slide much further up in my rankings. Based roughly on the categories I've sorted players into I'd have him around 40."

CC: Thankyou to Cruiser23 for finding Bachar43, ant555 and Vic Crow's posts.

Taylor Duryea - (IM / OM) 24 April 1991, 179cm 80kg. NSW/ACT RAMS/Murry Bushrangers

"Jason McCartney: Taylor Duryea – He's a left-footer and is a really good disposer of the ball. He's got great composure and because he uses the ball so well, he's got that ability to really influence the game. He's got some really nice poise and balance and he can also win the footy as well. He gave his side great drive, winning 17 disposals, six hard-ball gets and five inside 50s, so it was a very good game from Taylor."

"ant555: Taylor Duryea – 179cm, 80kg – NSW/ACT Rams/Murray Bushrangers.
Bottom aged midfielder with a pretty solid body. Has pretty good pace and can be used in a few different roles from defence to forward and on ball. Skills are pretty good and his run out of the back half is good.
Another who will be looked at late in the draft."
Great summarys CC, it's awesome to see all the opinions on all the players all in one thread.

Just on Duryea, IMO if he doesn't get picked up late in the 08 draft will go top 10 in 09.

Liam Shiels - (IM / OM) 29 April 1991, 183cm 78kg. VicM/Eastern Rangers/The Basin

"Article: AFTER JUST two years of competitive football, Boronia’s Liam Shiels was last week named as one of the country’s hottest AFL prospects.
Having turned heads with his performances for The Basin Football Club, Eastern Ranges and Vic Metro, the 16-year-old’s meteoric rise up the junior football ranks has now earned him a spot in the Australian Institute of Sport’s AFL Academy squad.
As a member of the 30-man squad, Shiels will undergo an intensive 12-month non-residential training program, which will include school holiday camps and an international trip to either Ireland or South Africa.
While the magnitude of the opportunity had not yet dawned on him after the announcement last week, Shiels can be excused for feeling like it has all happened a little quickly for him since joining The Basin two years ago.
Having represented Victoria in indoor soccer, Shiels says he decided to ditch the round ball for Aussie Rules because a lot of his schoolmates at Aquinas College played for the Bears.
While Shiels has played just five games with The Basin this year because of Eastern Ranges commitments, Under 16 coach Mark Pascoe says the versatile young gun has left his mark on the club.
Pascoe lists a strong pair of hands, the ability to recover quickly from a contest and a desire to get his teammates involved as Shiels’ defining attributes.
“I overheard a couple of our boys on our bench a while back saying ‘I just love watching him play’,” Pascoe recalled.
“That’s the sort of player he is, he’s the total package.”
Having played centre-half-forward for the Bears, Shiels, who stands 181cm, excelled in a variety of roles with the Ranges this year.
When Vic Metro threw him into the middle against South Australia in the national U16 carnival, he compiled 27 possessions and kicked a vital goal.
Having been named in the 11th AIS-AFL Academy intake, Shiels has joined some illustrious footballing company.
Names like Chris Judd, Luke Hodge, Lance Franklin and Cameron Ling are among 135 current AFL players to have graduated from the program – which equates to 19 per cent of the league.
Shiels says the prospect of being drafted has entered his mind, but he is certainly not getting ahead of himself. “I just can’t wait to start the program,” he said."

"foj1:: 32. Liam Shiels 183cm 78kg Vic Metro
Bottom aged prolific ball winner who just keeps on getting the footy. Had a very impressive U/16 carnival and should develop into an able AFL midfielder. Isnt super fast but has a good tank which should continue to develop. Is able to play both inside and outside the contest."

"HFF 07: LIAM SHIELS 183cm 78kg MID Eastern Rangers/The Basin
Bottom aged mid, is a prolific ball winner in the juniors and had a standout under 16s carnival.
PROS: - Ball winner, Clearance player, Engine, Nice Size,
CONS: - Younger, Pace,
PREDICTION: 55 - 80"

"ant555: Liam Shiels – 183cm, 78kg – Eastern Rangers.
Midfielder who has pretty good pace and is good at getting in and finding the ball. He is a very strong tackler and he does kick goals when he is resting in the forward line. Has a good work rate and reads the play well. Like a few others his down side can be his kicking. He can spray the ball around a bit or kick to contests on his bad days.
Has been a consistent performer for Rangers all year.
Being bottom age he will look attractive late second round and onwards."
Word is that the dees are very interested on Shiels with one of our later picks....
