Trade week we will be wishing for Neale/Ah Chee/A Davies/Starcevich/Butler/T Young.
Most likely end up with Starcevich/Butler/T Young/Robertson.
Geez I hope we pull a rabbit out of a hat that seems to be lurking that no one knows about!

Does depend on what we’re looking for from our ruckman long term.

Do we want a guy that dominates hitouts?

Or do we want to go down the Bulldogs/Geelong route and have a strong midfield that doesn’t rely on a HTA, but the guy playing ruck hurts the opposition everywhere else.
Blicavs didn't hurt anyone yesterday.

Sorry that's a load of BS.

Pick 3 traded landed us Baker (best and fairest, next captain), Bo the highest rated WA kid who actually played unlike Jagga. Plus we landed Gross splitting 14.

The others played and showed glimpses of future promise. None of them played better than Ried who won the rising star and who we could have picked.

We wont know really if the split was a net benefit or loss for another 10 years.
Would much rather have sid draiper righ now instead of bo allan and hawks 1st

Ran into Cox at the airport this afternoon, well he is a massive unit (ignoring some condition). His size reinforced that we need real sized ruckmen who also have ability. Not much point having one without the other.
This is why CDT is a not a ruckman.
Better keeping our draft capital for B Van Rooyen in 2026 or A Walsh 2027 if we want to draft another ruck.
Proper rucks, proper size(above 204cm) and athletic.

I was one of the hottest for the sid this time last year, yet here the crows were desperate for an inside mid to help win contest in finals footy and he couldn't get a game, even with Rankin and Rachelle out. I watched quite a bit of the crows early this year while draper played and he seemed to get lost in his positioning.

Murphy Reid wouldn't have won the RS in our team .

We have no midfield. We need a competitive midfield before anything else will click .

Our best mid is Harley then Hewett who have played 2 seasons

Who else do we have ?

Kelly picks and chooses when to turn up and has 2 years left

Yeo perma injured and rumours he will play back also 2 years left

Who else? 🤷

I thought this as well but Starcevich's finals series was a better version of what Mini was trying with Brady Hough this season

Apart from getting absolutely destroyed in the prelim. A good player who looks better in a very good team. With major concerns about concussion.

Do not want and haven't from the very beginning. He offers nothing the club doesn't already have in defence and if the club think they can turn Ginbey and Hough into top line mids they are beyond delusional.

What ? Crows have a full complement of on ballers and sid couldn't break into the midfield. Sid played very well in the 2nds .
He would have been as good as Hewett was this year if we drafted him

I'm so proud of you boys.

The Eagles have won 11 games in the last 4 seasons combined and you campaigners are still posting minute by minute about CDT's natural position, the merits of splitting picks, and salary cap impacts from medical retirements.

God bless you all

Would he?

We will never know though.

Seems most of your opinions are based on what could have happened or might happen.

Not what has happened.

Apart from the fact he produced a game changing spoil in the prelim then shut down geeomgs most dangerous player from the prelim yesterday yeah he offers not much more than Tom Cole.. minus the spoiling ability and ability to actually shut down a dangerous player…

On another note went looking at McVees Wikipedia page to see at want point he was drafted.. stumbled onto the fact he is a left wing activist who has done work for the greens… we have enough woke fools in our club, fits in better with Pearce at freo.

Yep agreed, likely to only get a few of the middle range fringe types.

Jack Steele would be my left field hope. No obvious links to us, other than fills an area of need, the Liam Ryan trade request and the Saints adding one million players to their list (Sam Flanders to take his mid spot).

The player I’m thinking of is more like an Atkins or Willem Drew. Even Dunkley was a late first, same with Cripps.
I don't think Atkins, Drew, or Dunkley are a Sharp type plyer. Cripps is too far back. Guys like him don't last until 11 anymore. I see Sharp as a Cripps like player.

Legitimately unless he is Tom Green I can’t see it being worth it.
That's my point. Unless they're Tom Green good, or close to that level, they don't cut it and will probably get delisted. That's why you have to spend a top 5 pick on this type of player.

Who are the gun contested players that have gone top 5 who are like him?

Since 2013 these are the players who went top 5 that I’d consider genuine “one dimensional” inside mids.

Rowell
Oliver
Parish
Setterfield
Phillips
Wardlaw
Dow

He’s nothing like Rowell or Oliver and the other 5 (Wardlaw TBA) I don’t want to spend a top 5 pick on.

Everyone else: McCluggage, Taranto, LDU, Brayshaw, Callaghan, Anderson, Rayner. Have much more going for them whilst also being very good around the stoppages.
This is all conjecture pulled out of your arse.

Sharp was the best player in the champs. Therefore, he is as good a chance as any to be able to go on with it.

Show me an inside extractor bull type player who was picked out side the top 5 in the last 10 years. There will be a few, but once you crunch the numbers, you'll discover they are very hard to pick outside the top 5.

Draper was pretty average in the 2s this year. He certainly wouldn’t have performed as well as Hewett. Who’s best game at afl level was better than Drapers best at SANFL.

Some talk of James Rowbottom to the Suns who I presume would take the spot of Alex Davies. I’d be calling his manager again if that is the case.

WEST COAST EAGLES

Players that could leave

Eagles co-captain Oscar Allen will join Brisbane once the free agency period starts, after eight years at Lathlain. It should net the Eagles pick No.2 in this year’s draft. Not far behind him is expected to be Liam Ryan, who while not yet out of contract, has requested a move to St Kilda alongside several other rival players. And just after finding his way back into West Coast’s senior side, Campbell Chesser has requested a move to Carlton in his home state of Victoria. The club has endured three retirements this season, and has delisted three more with calls on several more players still yet to be made.

Players who could arrive

West Coast’s number one trade target in Brandon Starcevich just became a two-time premiership hero at Brisbane, and it might make them slightly nervous he could stay put at Springfield. The Eagles are believed to have offered the 26-year-old as many as six years to move, despite concerns over the star’s previous concussions. After missing out on Callum Ah Chee, the club’s list management may ramp up their bid for Hawthorn’s Sam Butler. Noise on a move for St Kilda skipper Jack Steele continues to simmer, but he remains the exact type of midfield acquisition Andrew McQualter’s side could benefit from. Western Australian Lions midfielder Deven Robertson has long been linked to the Eagles, and now looks likely to be available as a delisted free agent in the coming weeks. Tylar Young is also said to be a player the Eagles are interested in, as he awaits any potential extension at Richmond. AFL Media’s Josh Gabelich reports that delisted Sun Tom Berry is also on the radar of West Coast

Who’s already gone

Jeremy McGovern (medically retired), Dom Sheed (retired), Jayden Hunt (retired), Jack Petruccelle, Loch Rawlinson, Callum Jamieson
