I've stated before, the plan has always been to get more top ten picks.
If we come out of this trade period with some combination of 1,2, another top 10 pick, starcevich, banfield, ngas I'd be pretty happy.
Not sure if we have the list spots to do much more than that to begin with?

If I was Essendon with 3 picks in a row (5,6,7), I'd be interested in trading one for 2 late first rounders - allows them to get a sliding tall or mid instead of reaching for one at 7.

Probably gives us Sharp as well as pick 1 and 2.

I'd be surprised if he threw a random number out there without at least a thought process.

Interesting.
Again I think Pyke and Woosha are running list management defacto with Clarke.
They have known what the AFL have been going to offer for a bit and have been planning all scenarios.
I like they are trying to trade up and get 3 top 10 picks.
Puts Cumming/Schubert right in the window at pick 7.

Any plan to get more capital for next year with it projecting as a stronger draft? Guess it'd be a difficult sell to appear to be delaying getting young talent in but I feel it could be the smart move.

CDT isn't a ruck. He's a tall utility who can compete in the ruck at best.

Barnett was a dominant ruck. We've ascertained his ability over his peers was his size.
His issue seems to be workrate and decison making.
What is Barnett now?

A tall utility I suppose.

I still think and I'll die in this hill, our best ruckman the next decade is already on the list.
all of this, A Reid is our next ruckman in 3 years.

That would surprise me, the club want talent in now.

Those an option that hasn't been discussed

Given Vozzo and ROB run Essendon now, they started this split the picks.

Plus the last time Essedon had 3 consecutive top 10 picks....they butchered it. Maybe there scared lol

Trade 15 and 19 for pick 7.

Trade Ryan and Cheeser for F2

Leaves us with 1,2, 7 and first pick night 2

Say hypothetically we trade up to secure pick 7.

Pick 7 is worth 1,543 points.

Pick 17 (Hawks) is worth 879 points.
Pick 24 (AFL compo after Allen, TDK, Silvagni, Draper & Worpel) is worth 621 points.

That's still 43 points in arrears.

We're going to have to offer the Chesser pick or Hawks second as well you'd think to have a chance otherwise why would GC do the trade?

It would also mean splitting pick 2 will be much harder to achieve as we'd have little to offer on top of that top pick and i doubt we split for a top 5 pick and a later first as we just packaged up a few to move up the draft.

Bombers could trade for Pick 1 but i'd expect 5 & 6 outright.

Pick 1 is worth 3000 points, whilst 6 is worth 1659 points and 7 worth 1543 so it's only an additional 454 going by the index but would we really want to give up the number 1 pick?

Is there any way our 2nd round pick is not the first pick on Day 2?

If not, then this pick is no doubt more valuable than our assistance pick given there would be a number of clubs who have their eyes on a player that slid or they wanted?
Every year this discussion point comes up and every year that pick is not valued any higher than the pick either side of it.
Its a Furphy.

Draft picks galore, $5m sign-on pool: Tasmania's list build rules revealed - https://www.afl.com.au/news/1435317

“Four mini-draft selections over two years to on-trade access to star 17-year-olds for following drafts”.

Get on the phone immediately to get pick 1 and 2 in the 2026 mini draft and take Axel and Angus. 2027 1R and 2R should be enough.

Barnett was never dominant in the ruck. Always lacked strength but was good enough in the ruck whilst being super athletic.
Tim English lite. He wasn't playable until 22 and "good" until 25

More likely pushing up for jacob farrow if they think he won't last until pick 15
